Peter Beets Trio with Kurt Rosenwinkel live in Waves at the Kurhaus. Peter Beets - piano Kurt Rosenwinkel - guitar Frans van Geest - double bass Joost Patocka - drums
Years has passed since I got graduated from music school, for many reasons I didn't have much chance for keep studying jazz and listening back to this performances gives me the inspirtation needed to go back to practice and sooner or later I know I'll be able to play this tunes and solo as you guys did here, love this whole presentation with kurt, every time I hear it its just amazing! Greetings from colombia Guys!
Swinging group Kurt has here! Kurt has this tune so internalized that it flows out of him when he solos. He's not thinking about anything other than letting it come out. His solo is amazing on this! thanks for posting!
In addition to everything else great about this series, the way the processed guitar sound blends w/ the acoustic instruments works really well to my ears.
Get out of town RosenwinkeL´ Ujú Maestro Kurt, Half a Mile... Have you done that, 26 2? Oh I was asking that to the kids on the window! Great joke at the end or comment by el Maestro Kurt Rosenwinkel. Great sound Beets Trio. Jaime Andres now from Colombia.
The point is to play slightly ahead of the beat but not faster. Think of time as a circle. In this case I don't care if they rush a bit, it's smoking!!!!
Amazing! Thank you so much! Sorry I can't help it this little pun: As long as Kurt is using pedal effects to get his magic flutelike tone with his guitar, it "counts" as straight ahead jazz... but, if it were Chick or Herbie with a keytar getting a similar sound, or even Kurt himself with a Roland or so guitar synth... they would automatically be dismissed by some snob "purist" criticians as fusion crap or something... am I getting it right? 😮🤦🏽♂😅🤣🙏
He's actually not, he's running it through a pedal called a POG that cuts off the attack. A lot of people make fun of his sound for it or just say it downright sounds bad... Kurt should do whatever he wants I think
i've been working on this tune a few months now--enough so i can keep the chord progression straight in my head--but i'll never live long enough to be able to improvise at this tempo-coltrane's Giant Steps and the tunes based on it (Satellite and this one) will make an improviser out of you
Damn, these guys look like a group of substitute teachers on lunch break. Then they just TEAR IT UP. Love it.
Peter I LOVE your sound, and the way you manifest and break tension in your solos- Geezus dude. Unreal. Thank you!
Giant Steps harmony? The original melody is not that great,so... Great
@@raymondkarlsson9794 yeah what did John Coltrane know. Only changed jazz as a genre like, twice, three times? What a hack, eh?
Gimme a break.
Lmao 😂

He is a master of swing and a modern guitarist like few others, a genius
In addition to everything else great about this series, the way the processed guitar sound blends w/ the acoustic instruments works really well to my ears.
i think it is too much. you almost don;t hear the guitar sound. He should start taking flute/oboe lessons
@@vizzo7 I have to agree but he loves using that effect. Still love the solo. Especially the piano 🎹
Fantastic! Thank you guys! Coltrane for ever!
This video gives me life.
One of the best Piano Solos ive ever heard in Jazz!
minus when he complete misses the que for the drummers solo. RIP
gotta love the dynamic of these totally different soloists!
Peter, Kurt, Frans and Joost.. Thank you!

Listen this and you just want to put you to play!
Giant Steps meets Confirmation
kingofskateop
You said it!!
It's also a reharmonization of "Confirmation"!
although good luck with 26-2 haaa, but I love that tune
head in: 230bpm
head out: 250 bpm
perfect amount of speed up for excitement
The point is to play slightly ahead of the beat but not faster. Think of time as a circle. In this case I don't care if they rush a bit, it's smoking!!!!
That tenor madness quote at 7:27 though.
oh shit!
he is quoting the confirmation intro
Amazing! Thank you so much!

4:33 - 4:45
otro niveeel
Lol if I had a dollar for everytime Kurt bent over during his solo..
Very Metheny-esque. I'm just curious if somebody can tell me if he's using a synth or....?
He's actually not, he's running it through a pedal called a POG that cuts off the attack. A lot of people make fun of his sound for it or just say it downright sounds bad... Kurt should do whatever he wants I think
How do you get this tone????
fucking amazing,

I keep thinking the start of the melody is gonna go into confirmation
If you didn't know, this tune is actually based off of confirmation
The girl dancing at 4:09
+5:11 , 5:33
That is just wonderful, adds to a great video.
Someone knows what the guitar model is?
Moffa

Was curious about that myself
Nice EWI playing Kurt
Piano player is like ‘yeah I can do all that and play chords at the same time’ lol such is the life of a guitarist

Mauricio Rodríguez It's made by Moffa, An italian luthier
4:28 - 4:50 what ?!?!
Kurt likes changing it up with pedals....probably the EHX Hog pedal
No, man, not his sound. His phrasing maaaaan, you dig? ;) Cosmic phrasing... (4:30 = imitating a bird ?)

26-2 it's a Coltrane tune

song?
26-2 a coltrane composition
tnx, at first i thought that was the date x))
0:15
so, he doesn't want his guitar to sound like one?
no, he doesn't
dammm I insist,the piano player.....
Kurt blinks his eyes with too much swing in his solo
IK heb een tip voor je Beets!!!!!!!!!Draai je piano eens om zodat je die jongens kunt zien!!!Groet Remco
O.O
This tune would sound better in a natural guitar sound. 🎸
whats the name of this song?
26-2
