In this video, you learn how to make simple songs sound great on guitar.
Strumming the same old open chords over and over again gets boring real quick.
In this lesson, I sit down with Guitar Playing Breakthrough Specialist Tom Hess and Beginner Guitar Specialist Maurice Richard to discuss and demonstrate ways to make simple songs sound great.
Now, there is nothing wrong with strumming open chords, we all do it because it sounds good and is fine to do.
However, it doesn’t sound good if this is all you do.
Both your ear and the ear of the listener get immune to this sound very quickly.
There is no light and shade, and the dynamic range of ones playing becomes very narrow if you strum the same chords over and over again.
You need to discover other ways to play the chords in addition to what you are doing that develop the song and keep the listener engaged.
Keep watching to discover some approaches to this as well as a special free 5 day mini course I have created for you to take your rhythm guitar playing to a whole new level

A lot of talk, with no examples. Pointless. The answer to the question is, "let's take song X, with C, G and Am". Then show it played straight. Then finger-picked. Then selecting notes from chords. Then with ascending and descending runs. And so on. A picture is worth a thousand words. Especially when the words include, "triads", "deeper", "broader". Just freakin' SHOW us.

If you care to look at other videos on the channel Mark you'd find plenty of examples demonstrating concepts discussed in this video, beginning with specific videos linked in the top right corner of the screen :)

@@acousticguitarlessons I have seen one of your other videos by accident (finding same chords at different locations on the fretboard), and it was so informative. The video on making simple songs sound great could have Neen incorporated into this one (or vice versa) to much greater effect.
