Passamezzo Moderno danced at the EDC Festival 2019 by Dance Past

Dance Past dancing "Passamezzo Moderno" at the Early Dance Circle Festival in Edinburgh, October 2019. The Passo e Mezo, known throughout Europe, has a structure of sequences and is performed continuously by both dancers in the couple. They dance alternating "mutanze" and "passeggi", which can be taken from instructions by dancing masters such as Caroso and Lupi or improvised according to the dancer's experience and preference. This performance is based on Caroso, 1581. We have adapted it for five dancers and improvised from variations which can be found in the HDS publication: "Princely Masques and Revels" (The book and CD are available on our website)
