- The first AMSOIL Swapmoto Race Series event of the year went off last weekend at Glen Helen Raceway, and we were stoked to see Marvin Musquin pull into the track to have some fun. We were even more excited when we saw the bike in the back of his truck: a KTM 250 SX two-stroke! Always the gentleman, MM elected to race without being scored, so that he didn't take money out of a local pro racer's pocket. We chatted him up in between motos...

He should lineup for one or two races of supecross on the 250, the crowd would go nuts. Evidently he is going extremely fast on it. Rad video!
That's killer, can you imagine getting to the main on the 2stroke and the crowd.
@@denniswilder3014 I doubt he would, top 15 would be a milestone, now he got a Factory EFI engine that would squeese out more power than a fully modded Factory 250f engine, and would you say a 250f rider on the line against a 450f would so much worse? People tend to forget that the top 250f riders goes faster than the outside 6-7 position of the main class.
He would so just fine, podium? No, but still a solid position and he would go fast. People underestimate the quality of the pro’s. Look at seely and Roczen on 20 year old technology laptimes + modern suspension, the laptimes were about the same for Kenny on Hondas sx track, Seely within 1 second.
Now Marv would have a Factory efi engine, he would be just fine for a solid position and that is what people want to see. He is not in it to win a race, the point is to highlight the two stroke and get fans pumped up.
He'd get smoked. Just facts! I love & own 2-strokes & 4-stroke dirtbikes 💯 👍🏻
@@Davido50 Nah, he would be fine, especially with the EFI, more fourstroke’ish kind of power. But until it happens, we can just speculate, as it would need to be emperical to be fact proven.
If his going to get smoked then let him ride the 300SX.

When I heard Marv + 250 2 stroke + Glen Helen.....I thought , " I can't think of too many dudes on planet earth that would run with that guy."
He didn't get the send off that he deserved. If that is what he truly wanted. He should be SX only , and he would still be up towards the top 10.

Marvin always has the best line choices...even still to this day. Notice how he picked the one clean line on the downhill avoiding all the bumps. The momentum he carries through corners is impressive and the only way to beat a 450 up hills like that.
Awesome seeing Marv again, wish he would race a couple of SC races! I miss the heel clickers and he still has the speed!
How about 500 2t vs. 450 4t and 250 2t vs 250 4t , the old AMA rule is outdated.

even the fastest local cant qualify for outdoors or SX, rode G.H. ton and there were always top pros out there riding.....it is truly amazing to see their speed vs " the fastest guy you know"......in every sport the top peeps are on a different level.....
R.V. blew past me like i was standing still when i thought i was moving @ Milestone yrs ago when they combined both tracks on pro day.....

Too cool! The last dirt bike I raced was a 400 Penton (KTM). That was a long time ago, but it was a terrific bike!

i miss marvin racing.....he rarely wins but he comes close all the time which is kewl......he is an ambassador for the brand and sport

In Europe the EMX250 class is open to any 250 cc bike 2t and 4t it works perfectly. Their is advantages to each on different tracks and different situations. The 2t won the championship in 2022 a 4t won in 2023. Great racing. The AMA needs to get their shit together and take away the idiotic handicap
They won't because theres a lot of money for manufacturers in repairing a 4t vs 2t. But I won't hate on either cause theres no way I want electric bikes.
How is it, that MM25 doesn't have a factory KTM ride???
The dude has been more than stellar, for a long time.
I get that he's getting older.
But so are a lot of these guys.
I think it sucks that he doesn't still get the opportunity to race at the highest level.
Seems to me he can stiil be competitive.
Always enjoyed watching his riding, soo smooth and fast. And.... he has always been a great representative of our sport.

If only there was a media outlet that would use their ability to reach a bunch of people to petition the AMA to change their antiquated late 90s rule and base Pro classes on displacement only regardless of two stroke or four. I’m guessing if you asked 100 AMA members, “are you in agreement that 250 two strokes should be able to race in the 250 class?” That at least 99 would say “heck ya!”

I own an love both 2-stroke & 4-stroke dirtbikes. Been riding /racing since late 80s. Both are terrific! Gotta say tho he'd most likely get smoked by a modern 4-stroke. Just the facts. 💯
There's bikes that sounds like they rip, and there's bikes that sound like they fart, I know which ones I like better.

If they put the same electronic fuel injection and new research into the 250 2 stroke it would be a no brainer. The fact that the 450s are mapped and electronic fuel injections and the 2 strokes are still carbed is a huge deal. If the 2 strokes had the same research and development , a 450 2 stroke would destroy a 450

What ? And this is some kind of big deal ?? Everybody knows a Two stroke is the weapon of choice for many. Y'all just been programed to buy what they wanna sell you. So that's what you do...I can go much faster on a Two stroke ..been riding them my whole damn life..
You think your going faster on a 2 stroke because the rear wheel is spinning and the motor is screaming. 4 strokes are quicker from A to B, and thats why they took over.
He won't race anymore because he's too slow.
