  • To mark the 60th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s death, revisit two exclusive BBC interviews with the US president's mother, Rose, who movingly details the family's intense pride and sorrow.
The profound loss Rose felt at her son John's death would be reflected by the shock and grief that would play out across the US, to the extent that a whole generation would be able to remember exactly where they were when they heard that he had been shot.
When JFK’s life was cut short so shockingly, it sparked a wave of grief and mourning that left an indelible mark on the consciousness of the nation.

One can't imagine the pain of the mother. She was an extremely strong woman, to lose so many children, but continued. She must have been grounded in her faith and belief in God. I remember the day so raw, as if it was yesterday. I was an 8 year old child in Sierra Leone, West Africa. The JFK era had touched many lives in the developing nations; with the Peace Corps., American cheese and powdered milk provided at school, etc. I was playing in the backyard of my parents home. ( My late dad worked for the government then, and had even been privileged to visit the US on a couple of occasions, representing Sierra Leone at the General Assembly). My parents were out at a function or visiting friends, when I heard the phone ring. I reached in through the window on the back veranda to pick up the call; and my late uncle (who was head of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service) on the other end asked for my dad. I told him he was out, and he replied that when he got back, I should tell him that President Kennedy had been shot. May his soul continue to sleep in peace.

What kept me going was that I was a mother to a younger son. He needed to see a mom who valued him and was able to keep moving forward. You are both lucky to have lived through a time of great belief in the country and forward thinking towards prosperity and peace. I was still decades away from birth yet, I feel through pictures and seeing President Kennedy speaking, just how amazing he truly was. Too many ppl sometimes concentrate on his personal life and irrelevant to us...his womanizing. Yet if they only knew LBJ had more than President Kennedy could wish for in a whole lifetime. Yes, there is evidence and an illegitimate son as proof too. Lbj had unfortunate for JFK, taken on the VP position under bribery, and Jack didn't want to humiliate Jackie publicly, and so took on the man who from the start had been planning the ultimate "step up" with JFK's enemies.. the ones who wanted wars not peace. JFK is a President which we shall not ever see the likes of again.

*_I'm watching JFK's mother speak for the first time. I truly felt the woman's pain deep in my heart, from miles away. It's really not easy at all. It is a very painful experience for a mother to see her son, of whom she was proud of his achievements, die in this way. Imagine, your son became the president of the USA. He is young and happily married. However, in front of the eyes of the whole world, he is brutally murdered as a result of an unknown assassination attempt. Moreover, the real perpetrators can never be identified, tried and punished. There's really no explanation for this. This scandal is happening in one of the most modern countries in the world._*

Truly hits home when she spoke of 'Jack' being here, rather than ever being a President...heartbreaking. She made sure her children grew up healthy as could be, well mannered, educated and truly honorable young ppl. Sad that fate took it away. And for President Kennedy's situation, a murder from the highest element of powers that be in America and Europe too. Rose was not lying when she said JFK would do the most honorable and truest mind for all ppl in life. Nevermind his personal life due to medical etc. JFK was a good true man. And today, I'm saying what a shame he didn't crush and scatter some secret societies, "to the wind" as it's a pivotal time in history when the power of a not so secret cia had completely transfered and cemented their place in Government, where they absolutely have no place. Her grief is so obvious. She did what she had to do through her religious convictions. She was brought up in politics, so she was perfect to marry Joe Kennedy. Kennedy did what he wanted to do and kept things from her. He ran a tight ship and was ruthless. Rose prayed and prayed yet could not undo damage . Rest in peace dear lady .

The Bible says we have all sinned. I know I have, haven’t you?
God “desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4)
Peter said, the Lord is “not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9)
    God gave us free will.
    The Good news
How can I go up to heaven and have everlasting life ?
“Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ that he died and rose again and you will be saved”
God bless you all in Jesus name.

Yes, President Kennedy gave the finest inaugural address. The speech was inspirational, forward-looking, and strong. Truly, the torch was passed to a new generation.
Sad that we haven't had a real president in these Intervening decades. Today we have only politicians, not leaders.
