Saulo stopped by my school once when he was in town. It was truly amazing watching him effortlessly toy with local black belts. It was like their first day on the mat. So many levels to thus stuff

Xande changed my entire understanding of half guard, now Saulo has changed my understanding of butterfly guard. Can't wait to put into practice some of these details - thanks so much Professor!

Besides their top class bjj skills, what really impresses me from the Ribeiro Brothers are their communication skills. They're very good in cutting the complexity of the techniques and explaining them in plain english -or portuguese-. Lucky ones those who can learn directly from them!

I once went to a seminar with Leonardo Xavier. That man is ridiculously skilled. His technique is smooth, effortless, and immaculate. If I were down in TX, I would definitely train with him.

This is awesome! This video has helped my butterfly game so much in just one class. I was sweeping really big guys easily where they used to give me so much more trouble before. I wasn't posting my arm before, I never realized how important that was until last class. Thank you so much for this video!

Fantastic!! Excellent idea to force the butterfly guard. I struggle with getting into the correct start and I usually get in the position from a mistake my partner makes. I can't wait to try this from now on.

One question, however, what would you do to counter or prevent the opponent from standing up at the point where you establish separation, just before scooting forward into position ready to sweep?

Keep your base low when he is trying to sweep. But, really it starts before he is in there. Don't let him get grips. Make your own grips and stand up.

ok im new to bjj, but i am generaly matched up against a purple belt when rolling as i am larger than most of the people in the gym. this is the exact setup that this purple belt almost always uses against me and i cant find a good counter for it. can anyone send me a vid link or at least message me some stuff to practice so i can stop getting swept and fighting the rest of the time from the bottom of side control.
