Virtua Stick Pro // LEGENDARY ARCADE STICKS
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 тра 2019
- Let's look at the Sega Virtua Stick Pro (HSS-0130) for the Sega Saturn! Modeled after the Sega Astro City arcade cabinet, this 2-player arcade stick is considered to be the definitive holy grail of retro arcade sticks. It doesn't get much closer than this when it comes to feeling like you're at the arcade!

Holy lord what an intro
Instablaster.
How has youtube not recommended me all of these videos? It was a fluke that I happened to go searching for the MAS one, but all of these are up my alley. ...I also hoard arcade sticks--difference is, most of mine are borderline trash 😁
Wow, I’m blown away by your Neo Geo modded design! Killer job!
The “insert coin” buttons for select made me laugh. Very clever
The Virtua Stick Pro is just so admirable and awesome as a console controller. You can play with a friend right out of the box (with the button layout taking that into consideration) and has arcade quality parts for you both to enjoy. What an amazing feeling it must be to have a friend over and whip this bad boy out.
Also great production, Scanline City! Can’t wait for your future vids.
Love that custom Neo Geo stick!!! The insert coin buttons are incredibly awesome!
Quality of production in this video is insane! Love the monitor decor
Your collection is insane.
What a legendary setup! Great video!
Just found your channel and I've been binging these arcade stick reviews. Sadly I don't see much posted outside of the M.A.S. announcement, which is cool, but hopefully there'll be some more videos on these legendary sticks.
I still need to replace the buttons and maybe 1 stick on my hss0130 ! I was thinking to sell it to use money in other arcade purposes , but after i've watched on this beauty videos , i'll keep it ! Thank you very much for this !
I just noticed the older Hori RAPs have a similar body shape to those Sega sticks. Also, that NeoGeo custom is killer! And the 25¢ coin button is just awesome.
Looking forward to another episode!
Thanks! Dude I'm glad you said that....the HRAP bodies look very close to the Virtua Stick Pro body...much more so than the regular virtua stick haha
Hard to find this stick in good condition... I would love to have this one. Another great video.
Sorry kind of late to,the party bit dude...that is by far the most beautiful neo geo stick ever ....its perfect in every way..good deal!!!!!!!!
Thank u so much for the info I been looking for a good sega saturn fightstick and now I'm on the hunt to get one .
Hey how am I only just finding this channel, awesome vid and awesome channel man! I have the same obsession, PVMs and arcade sticks :D
Amazing channel Subbed!
Keep up the great videos!
I freaking envy your collection. Crazy stuff!
Holy crap the amont of sheer money on display here. Three of these sticks. All the buttons and mods.
Wow
Love these mods
Man you should do a video on doing a dual console mod! amazing video btw
Amazing job on the sticks, they're beautiful! Any suggestions on where to buy alternative move lists for the HSS-0130?
Who is doing the custom metal work for you? Great series, loving the content!
dang that neo-geo mod is superb 😍
that yellow stick looks so sexy, nice to see content like this, instead of all the primeraly usual single stick reviews, love what your doing here scanlinecity, keep up the good work, youve earned yourself a sub.
Man this video is top quality, awesome job dude! Do you have a link to that X-Men vs Street fighter movie list design by any chance?
Just bought a Mayflash F500 Elite, online people have recreated an astro city style plate design like this for it and other sticks, if you search online you'll see it as a simple plate mod people have done for razer panthera, madcatz se and others. To get that astro city vibe is the best, but to have this original SEGA stick here is the real deal, so cool
Now I got a New Astro City that's the realest deal but this stick still bangs obviously especially the portability angle
Awesome collection, I love this series of videos, are you also going to review the really old retro sticks? like the Sega Power Stick for the Megadrive/Genesis, NES advantage, Capcom Power Stick Fighter for the SNES etc.
Oldest I'd probably go in this series would be the ascii famicom stick or MAS sticks as I consider those to be legendary. I may do reviews on others like you suggested but I dont consider them legendary in terms of performance like MAS for example. I love to hear these episode ideas though so keep it coming! Thank you!
Nice vid bro, where do you get the panels and case? You make it o buy it?
My dream stick
Impressing
Astro City panels are *always* available online. I'm surprised that the enclosures aren't. It's amazing there isn't an enterprising eBay seller somewhere out there churning out $200 pieces of plastic you could top up with an Astro City panel.
What a great arcade game…
This is the ultimate 1-player stick for playing with on the lap once you replace the panel for a single player one (in my opinion). You don't have to worry about keeping your knees together and balancing a slimmer joystick.
You can't really play it on-the-lap as a 2-player stick unfortunately as it's lob-sided.
What a flex, got 3 of these on the table like it's nothing.
I wish someone would make reproductions of either:
- This gorgeous beast
- The Blast City panel enclosure
- The Boardmaster
Literally anything with an Astro/Blast city panel hole. =D
@Why; Respect It sucks, because there is NO END of Astro City panels I can buy online, but the enclosures are non-existent, short of one of the above options. (I think Blast City was the *only* one of those where the controller enclosure could be removed).
Just gimme an ITX case that has an open top that will fit those. I'm not greedy. ^o^
Hey Man, Love the channel. I picked up a Blaze duel joystick which is essentially a ripoff of the the Sega Metro panel but a couple extra buttons and no room for artwork. I keep ordering neon green buttons and everything keeps going wrong. Gonna get it finished eventually though.
I'ma smack whoever gave this video a thumbs down. As a matter of fact....smack yaself.
Thank you for this video! Picked up a VSP a couple months back and updated the shaft/buttons:
imgur.com/gallery/pcHXzfd
Main PCB and LS-32 were left stock. Picked up a Link-LS from France to swap the shaft out. Feels awesome.
dude I'm so jealous. I need this and that VLX Diamond
I should have bought this while I was in japan..... dammit
Sega should sell this body as a full mini arcade console, kinda like the Capcom one. I'd give them every dime they wanted for one.
4:09 from where can we get the custom panels for Neo geo 😍 am thinking of getting two one for Neo geo and the other for everything else
Hey man,
Was interest in getting a panel cut for my Blast City, wanted a 7 button layout like the Vewlix, but with the same button layout as the Blast City. Did you have the info for the guy who cut your panel for the Neo Geo stick?
Man i have looked EVERYWHERE and cant find it. I have a feeling it was through my business email which got really screwed up due to fraud around that time. Ill keep looking! Need to find that for myself as well
It's unfortunate how those are all yellowing out like crazy. Mine looks like a burned biscuit, nowadays.
Some people tried retrobrite, but that only works for a few months and then it goes even worse than before, and the process makes the plastic more brittle.
I would love to see someone make a replacement case.
Yup. I'm thinking about repainting at least one of mine
Do you know when Seimitsu released the LS-32?
My dream stick :(
This guy is nuts he has three of them it's so awesome and I want one but I saw the price and was like woah
Strong suggestion: if you want one cheap look for a "yellowing" poor condition one and use the retro bright formula to get it looking new again. I got all mine pretty cheap and revived them to look new again
@@ScanlineCity does retrobright really work?
@@jdestroyer9721 yes it does but sometimes you have to do it multiple times. And iv even done it where once I get it nice I add a protective clear coat paint - which even if it's not done perfect still looks good
That said I'm still experimenting with the process to find out what works best
Combo AV please..♡
Back then that was the Maybach..and Neo geo was called the Rolls Royce.
Do you know how to get the plexi glass off? I would love to either retrobrite mine or maybe re-paint it because its yellowed. Right now it is plasti-dipped and it held up decent but its starting to peel from all the rubbing. I'd love to be able to retrobrite/paint under the plexi. Yours look pristine, did you re-paint at all? Awesome channel man, I subbed.
Gosh I have not tried taking that off but once you put a move list in there it should cover it right? All mine were yellow as well but I did retro bright like 4 to 6 times one after another. Just soak the hell out of it...i even put some behind that move list and sprayed it off with hose if I couldn't slip i towel in there
@@ScanlineCity I appreciate you getting back to me so soon! You're right about the movelist. Can I ask just one more question-which retrobrite style did you use? I'm afraid of getting the marbling commonly associated from saran wrap covering Salon40 solution. Was thinking of soaking the whole thing in liquid peroxide but that seems like such a pain. What route did you go?
@@jwhipp I never use saran wrap. I just use an abundance of the salon40 style stuff, lay it on thick and leave in the hot sun for a day, wipe clean and repeat
Would love to know where can I find designs for the move list?
Man, this makes me want to try and mod but I absolutely know I would fuck it up and it would turn into an even more expensive ordeal.
I was finally able to get a sega Saturn Astro city arcade stick a few months back. It’s brand new. My question is how do I change out the buttons.
file or clip off (with a nibbler) the two tabs in each button cutout on the control panel. I was able to add screw-in Seimitsus once the tabs were removed no problem.
Hello !
where did you find your xmen vs street fighter moves sheet ?
May i ask the dimensions on the moves list marquee? And is it in inches or cm the measure it? Or maybe there is a site you can recommend that i can use to get them made? Thank you
Is that a bvm d32 in the background?
Yes sir. D32, D20, 20F1U, 20F1U vertical. And many more professional monitors in storage including xm37 and xm29
Hey man, do you by any chance know if the sega saturn to usb adapter by raphnet work with these?
I don't see why not. Using on pc?
@@ScanlineCity yep, I got an answer from raphnet that they didn't test it yet but that they didn't have any feedback from issues with it too. I guess it must work, I'm gonna buy two when I receive my Virtua stick pro :)
Multiple questions:
1. How did you get the arcade sticks to spin on their own?
2. When you talk about the lever of the arcade stick, why do you tend to use the term "joystick" more often than "lever"?
Anyways, the intro of Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter is certainly not the Sega Saturn version, though you covered a Sega Saturn arcade stick in this video. First, the text is in English (the Saturn port only has Japanese text instead), and the "Norimaro Challenges Impossible" screen does not show up before the gameplay demonstration begins.
Thank you for the feedback!
1. Magic
2. I'm a noob
3. These episodes are not intended to show authentic gameplay. However I certainly plan on doing so in other series. This series is about the sticks not the games - gameplay is just something to keep the energy flowing ;)
My guess for #1 is either a lazy susan topped with rubber feet the same height as the Virtua Stick Pro's (so it rests on those feet) or some insane stop-motion planning (because the camera moves).
Oh Dang! U ever get on Fightcade and jam on alpha2?
I have not tried fightcade yet....is it sweet?
@@ScanlineCity Obviously, give a try
It's like xbox online but free... Just got done playing SFIII with a PS2 Virtua stick with a wireless PS to wiimote adaptor. ua-cam.com/video/0OWehrZfeRY/v-deo.html
Where’s the best place to get fightcade roms? I only have the st grand master challenge rom that a friend emailed me but no idea where to get any other capcom gems.
@@invalidletterdept2662 Search fba 2.96.74 romset
How the fuck do you only have 1.5k subscribers??? Did you get metooed or something. Your content is so fucking fantastic.
I wonder what this man does for a living
Hey man, just received my HSS 0130! You know where to get move lists that fit the stick ?
I had to print my own.
@@ScanlineCity Did you also design the artwork, or are there templates/files floating around?
@@roykincaid3797 probably not. I'm not sure where to get them but we will be making them in the future
@@ScanlineCity Awesome! Can't wait to pick some up!
Can you share contact information for the person who made your custom Neo control panel?
Hey mate, where did you get the art for the move lists at?
Cheers.
Gosh I think I just googled capcom vs snk 2 move list and also samurai showdown 2 move list. Once I found those two I combined them together side by side in photoshop
Scanline City I see. It's just that the art I've found before was quite low res.
Thank you for the reply, though!
@@shocknawe yeah me too. In fact I think that's why I combined two together. That said a lot of times you have to dig through threads of people making custom ones. This may be something I make in the future for people to download
I had this bby!!
How do you mod to play it on all the consoles that you said (PC, PS3, SS, Xboxx etc), hope could you tell me.
Thanks in advance and you have an amazing channel bro
@@israelgonzalezabrego3551swap the pcb for a universal pcb
Could you share the template for the instruction card ?
Do you know any companies that do custom Panels for this?
I would check ebay as it seems a few places make repros
I would install either sanwa or hayabusa parts in the Virtua Stick Pro.
Are there dimensions of the stick or the panels somewhere?
This nigga lit 😂 🔥
was it Jasen's customs who made the panel?
No. It was a guy in Asia somewhere but I can try and dig it up
@@ScanlineCity please do!
@@ScanlineCity Who was him? I would gladly appreciate to also make some panels.
On the arcade-projects forums, there's a guy who does custom HSS panels:

He's VERY slow to respond (weeks/months), but the work is top-notch.
There's also Virtua Arcade in Chile: facebook.com/virtuaarcade/
Why didn't you just put DA-15 jacks directly on the Neo-Geo stick, rather than going through Brook Fight Boards then Brook converters?
I wanted to use it on modern consoles as well. I'll probably dual mod in future but got lazy haha
how much did it cost when it came out? Did it come out in the west?
it sold for 39,990 yen & released only in Japan
Show us how to modify it

where can i order
What's that game @7:49?
Melty Blood Actress Again
@@ScanlineCity cool, thanks! I've never played Melty Blood but damn that game looks beautiful, I'm definitely gonna have to check it out now.
what's the game at 7:49 ?
