So many beautiful begonias. We enjoyed the video so much. I'm going to keep it as a wish list that I will never fill all the way out because I just don't have room. Although I do want the Candy Stripes LOL what is wrong with me Jen loves the turtle shell and I can see why😊😊😊
Hi Gena, as always you look absolutely fabulous. I love how passionate you describe your awesome collection of begonias. A lot of types I’ve never even heard about. I look forward to your next top 24. I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas filled with blessings ❤🎄
Hi Gena! Fabulous collection! Cane Begonias really need to be cut back regularly. Otherwise, they get too big and sort of fall apart. And it's a bonus that they propagate so easily! I grow mainly cane begonias and a few angel/dragon wings. I have a few really large varieties, too big for a cabinet, canes are the least fussy of the ornamental begonias, so that works out well. I keep mine outside unless it goes below freezing, they don't mind temps in the low 40's. My favorite in my collection is Begonia "diner". I got a few cuttings from a begonia in the lobby of a diner. (after asking permission). The funnies thing was that nobody knew who owned the plant, even the owner!😂In the diner it was over six feet tall. I keep mine in a small pot so it doesn't do that. It has plain green, glossy smallish leaves, And it gets loads of lovely pink flowers over a long season.
Hi, Sue! So happy to see you here again :). Your diner Begonia sounds fantastic! What a great story on that one. It is definitely a good idea to chop those cane Begonias down every so often to keep them looking nice. I love how easy they are to propagate too. Really...they are the best genus :D. Thanks again Sue!!!!
Such beautiful begonias. I love them and they are absolutely stunning. I just cannot keep them alive expect for one or two and I don’t want to do the cabinet thing. If it’s too high maintenance I will pass. Super striking collection
Thank you! And I totally get only wanting to keep plants that aren't too high maintenance. They are sort of a commitment. Not just time but special space in the home. Thank you again :).
Nice collection, Gena. I forgot that you grew your begonias in high humidity, and let the ones I bought from you suffer. But it looks like the 2 benigo pinks are coming back. Yay! Gena, that's prob a juncus in the first pot with your Melanobullata begonia. Juncus naturally grows at the edge of bogs, and the reeds were used in basket-making. My favorite type has curlicue tops, making a great vertical accent "thriller" in outdoor pots with plants that also need moisture. Never thought about growing it indoors!
I think that’s it! I know when I looked it up the description was exactly that! I’ll probably forget again though lol. Oh no!!! Glad the benigo is coming back. They definitely do better in high humidity. Even some of mine get crispy in high humidity. I just have to remember that our plants will never be perfectly perfect 😊.
Beautiful begonias. I can't seem to keep them alive, but very fun to see the amazing varieties. Would you ever do a video on your african violets. I used to have a few but not currently. Would love to see them, and I'm sure it would inspire me to purchase one.❤
Thank you! And definitely on the AVs! They aren't doing too much right now. Some are blooming but most are not. I want to try to get them all in bloom or close to all in bloom for a video. Thanks for asking :).
The Molana Bolata , spelling?, is a really fun looking begonia. I LOVE the grassy stuff poking out of it. Your Begonias are so pretty. I just do not have the right conditions to keep them happy.
Hi Gena! Oh boy glad you did not put these in order until the end!I love number 8 the Begonia Chlorostica Red! And was wondering about your begonia chlorosticta x chloroneura...I hope you still have it! Also enjoyed the fireflies and Paulensis! And your hairy ones! Oh my goodness I love them all too....I killed so many in the past years....glad they love the grow tent......I can imagine a whole grow tent filled! Oved this video so much and so happy for you and that you keep them all so happy! Love tina
Hi, Tina! Putting them in order would have been WAY too hard LOL. I do still have that one. It was in the milsbo wide and I just moved it to the grow tent. I felt it was too crowded in the cabinet and wanted to give it more room to grow. It's already pushing more new leaves since the move. Although it's quite leggy and I'm thinking about chopping it down and starting over. I have a lot of propagations of that one too. They can definitely take over a grow tent. I could dedicate an entire tent to Begonia VERY easily LOL. Thanks so much Tina!!!! xoxoxo
@@ThePinkTrellis You are so welcome. It has at LEAST doubled!! Your shop is wonderful, your plants perfectly happy and healthy. I loved that plant too, but you are right. It scared me. I just don't have the terrarium knowledge at all.
I got a Starry Night from Steves Leaves and it is beautiful, huge and growing in room humidity which goes into the 40s. I have had some that do acclimate after a full year, but then they are fine, like Jive which I thought would die many times. It is now doing well and I am raising cuttings. Anyway, loved this video, but then I am a begonia lover.
That's a beautiful Begonia! I wish my lowest humidity went only to the 40s. We are in a very dry climate so with the house humidifier going we are mid 30s otherwise it would be teens and 20s in the winter. I definitely need to use the cabinets and grow tent for mine. I wonder if some of mine could acclimate. I'm pretty certain the paulensis was fine in ambient, it was just the lighting that was too bright. Since I put it in the cabinet, the color is coming back nicely! Glad you liked the video!!! Thanks for watching :).
Love this so much! So many amazing plants! I'm waiting patiently for my melanobullata cutting to start growing! It has new roots but no leaves (above soil growth) yet! 🙄 it is a bummer that most/ so many begonia need high humidity because I don't have it to offer 😢. But I do want to convert my 55 gal to a begonia condominium 😊
I think a 55-gallon Begonia condo sounds amazing! 🤩🤩🤩. Some Begonia just take longer to start sprouting new growth from a leaf cutting. Mine don't always take but for the most part they do. I hope yours grows soon!!!! Thanks Aubrey!!!!
Beautiful Begonias! I’d like to see an update on your leaf cuttings of Paulensis. I read it will root but needs part of the rhizome in order to create a new shoot/plantlet. 💚
Thank you! I actually just went and looked and I only have one leaf cutting rooted. I think I got it confused with the melanobullata (that I have multiples of) which has sprouted new leaves from just an original leaf. So far nothing on the paulensis so you very well could be right. I’m going to continue to let it grow. You know the saying, life finds a way. Maybe others never waited long enough. Could be a fun experiment 😊.
Wow! Beautiful Begonias🥰👏How do you manage to rank them in order?😅🙌They are all incredible. That roseopunctata is amazing😌💖I love your Begonia sinbad. I just bought a begonia juanita's jewel last Sunday, and I have the escargot🐌
Thank you for showing us so rare and nice begonias. I have got some of those, but i,m dieyng for some others you have. I leave in Portugal. Do you sail the babies and is possible to send them to here? Is the price very high?
I love all your begonias! I have a begonia marmaduke, it’s beautiful, but how do you propagate them? I tried by cutting a leaf and putting it in water, it grew some roots but then it died. Not sure how to propagate, any help would be great! Thank you
Thank you so much!!!! I show how I propagate Begonia in this video linked at the end of this comment. It's how I do most of them. If not directly in soil, I put them in sphagnum moss. Both ways work for me. I've never propagated in water. Hope this helps :). ua-cam.com/video/l8hoAXmpgyU/v-deo.htmlsi=gtBPQDEMKv2iGRTO
Hi! Well, probably not soon. I don't have a ferox but the melanobullata is similar and the one that will be available the soonest of the two. I have a few that have sprouted new leaves from a cutting but they are VERY slow growers for me. I haven't propagated the escargot yet so for sure that one will be awhile. Sorry I don't have better news for you! Thanks for asking :).
What a stunning collection!! My favorite is the Begonia paulensis💚💚🌸🌸
It is such a beautiful plant!!! Thank you so much!!! :)
I’ve never seen so many gorgeous begonias in my life. Thanks for sharing.❤
That’s very kind of you!!! They are my pride and joy. Thank you 💚💚💚

Спасибо! Очень красиво!💕

Yeah the grassy stuff is pretty cool. Adds some extra interest to the pot even though the Begonia itself is sooo interesting! Thanks Chris!!!! :)

The melanobullato was my first begonia. It got me started! 😊 your begonias are so pretty!!!!!
That Thelmaeminiture!!!!!!! Eek!!!!!!
The begonia I gifted you is stunning. Gena, I think it is a full doubled in size. I love how compact it is. :) so glad you love it!!!!
Thank you :)
You think so???? I can't tell because I see it everyday. But you would know for sure. I do love it so much. Thank you for the gift :).

Hi, finn :). Begonias can be a commitment of space for sure...and time lol.
