Never in my 40 years of working in the restaurant business, have I ever heard the word “ plus “ uttered by a customer nor any kitchen staff or chef when ordering a steak.
The hell is "plus"!?? To many people used to Starbucks 17-word orders. 🙄 Trying to make your steak more special by adding a word to sound bougie just makes you look pretentious and annoying.
Wrong! No ketchup please. I always eat my steak well done. Well done doesn't necessarily mean dried out. I enjoy it cooked just beyond the point of where the meat is pink or red. This way I always get a flavorful, tender, and succulent steak. 😋
Never ever said plus, BUT.... and there's always a but.... I like my steak medium. Like, proper pink in the middle medium. I've ordered medium in the past and gotten rare, or not quite medium. And I hate getting my food and then having to send it back for more cooking time. Hate it. So yes, I order my steak _"Just a little past medium"_ so that chefs in a hurry now make sure they actually hit MEDIUM before serving me my expensive steak.
Best steaks I ever had weren't in an upscale steakhouse, but in a cowboy place in Colorado almost 40 years ago now. They only had a few cuts on the menu -- ribeye, t-bone, porterhouse, and if I recall a ladies cut filet. The tables were just long rows of picnic tables, and you might get seated wherever there was an open seat. Bit old fire pit right in the middle where they did the cooking with lots of steaks going all the time. First couple times I went the only side available was beans, but the added a baked potato option later on. Nothing fancy about it, but the steaks were incredible. Unfortunately, long gone as city expansion took it toll on the countryside.
I honestly thought u were gonna say “Ketchup” Which by all means should be illegal in all 50 states including territories. But I gotta say in my 46yrs of existence I’ve never heard anyone say “plus” Either way ketchup on steak should get u kicked out of ALL steakhouses and locked up in Foodie Jail
I prefer to order actual steak black and blue, which I assure you is worse than rare, medium, or well done when annoying servers. The frequency I order it that way corresponds directly to my faith in the restaurant - which is quite infrequent. If you like rare, and haven't tried black and blue yet, I recommend the experience. I slightly prefer it as a strip steak than any other cut, when I would otherwise order a hanger steak (hardly available due to poaching) or a ribeye.
No plus for this boy. I'm a WELL DONE kinda guy. As for you haters out there. Well done does not necessarily mean dried out like shoe leather. I enjoy my steak 🥩 cooked just beyond the point of where the meat is still pink or red. That doesn't mean medium either, but WELL DONE!! When prepared correctly I alway enjoy a tender, flavorful, and succulent steak. And I don't like anything else on it but what it may already be seasoned with. No thank you to stuff to dunk it in either. I despise steak sauce and ranch dressing too. 😯
Way back in my restaurant & bar working days that was known as "Blue Rare". Slap the steak on the grill, count to ten, flip it, count to ten, serve it still mooing.
No, what we really hate is when you ask for a side of ranch to dip your steak in. These folks are invariably the same who order them well done. Me, I'm a medium man. Used to like it Mid Rare, but not anymore. Dunno why, just a texture thing I guess.

Me too
I agree.
Agreed here.
Same here. Never heard that mentioned.

so does using the word "bougie" 🙄
Medium rare is my go to!
I literally couldn’t care less if the staff are annoyed. If I’m paying $50+ for a steak, they will damn well cook it like I want.
Same. My money, my choices. Plus it up!
I thought the word was going to be "well" as in "well done." To each his/her own, but you might as well put ketchup on a well done steak.
The server does not care, but it makes the chef cry.
Putting ketchup on a steak should count against your credit score.

I grew up in the restaurant business and I have never heard of the plus part. Texas roadhouse does a great job with the stake
STEAK.
That type of order is entitlement plus.

I’ve never heard of this. I thought you were going to say an end piece when prime rip is served.
I bet it's a California thing, like 90% of the oddities on this channel.
@ Gotcha 👋

I love this channel

interesting.... however afraid i must disappoint, I'm paying them for their service, not their preference.
crazy i know.
I have never heard "plus" added to a steak order and I was a cook for a decade. Not sure where this is happening.

Where the heck did this “plus” come from?
Millennials. They ruin everything.
I never order steak any more, because it only comes raw or burnt to a crisp. Eff that! I can cook steaks how I like them at home.

Pondarosa, steak done right
No more Ponderosa's to go to in my area.
Plus = added hawk tuah on your steak 💀💀
Thought you were gonna say "ketchup."
I cook my own.
They hate it when I send a steak back as overdone. When I say rare, I mean RARE! Just wipe its ass with garlic and throw it on a plate.

PLUS ULTRAAAAAA!
I never have a problem ordering my Steak .... I tell the Server "Incenerate it" .... or I order the Ribs!
