I am pulling the trigger today to purchase this exact model and your expert input has helped me finalize my thoughts and decision. Thank you for doing this video.
Started my own flooring installation as a side earner..... best machine I own... so good for the beadings and trim... used to use a hammer panel pins and a narrow nail punch.... so slow... worth every penny I spend on it!!
Just bought one 👍🏽 It’s impressive actually , it does what I need it to do, tho it’s much louder than expected upon firing . I’ll wear earplugs while using .
I just bought the brad nailer, gun, 2 amp battery, charger and bag, $299. Thought it was a good deal. Think it will be handy, tacking boards together, Will also use it with screws to secure stuff in place.
@@hammerandhome You have to add some screws as the brads are not strong enough by themselves. Maybe I also need a finish nailer, too. The brad nailer allows me to lineup the panel and tack it in place, adding screws makes sure the panel is secure.
Hello dumb question. But when depressing the nose does the motor start up…and when you pull the trigger it shoots nail? Or pull the trigger and motor starts up and press nose for nail to shoot?
not a dumb question, when the nose is depressed it makes the noise, then you pull the trigger, if you put it in bump mode then you hold the trigger down and every time you push the nose in it will shoot a nail.
What can you tell us about the firing mechanism? It seems instinctive to me that the reason the angled bradder (for example. I owned one and it's the best bradder I've ever used, pneumatic or otherwise) struggles firing through fibre cement is because it 'pushes' the nail, as opposed to the 'throw' from pneumatics or gas.
Any preference in nail brands? I've been using stainless brads from Hitachi for years, but my packs are getting low, and everything Hitachi is gone, (and Metabo HPT is nothing like what Hitachi once was... I learned that the hard, expensive way.) I use Stainless due to the salty humid environment I'm in and the types of wood I use.
Bought a Ryobi 18 gage brad nailer over a year ago. I worked good for several months and then stopped. Question: Can I use the battery from my Dewalt drill.?
you could, but i wouldn't recommend it. it's better to use a staple when installing shakes, the staple goes over the grain of the shake giving it better holding. A small 18 ga nail can split the shake and not really do a good job in holding it down. but they are good for face nailing if you have to.
Hi Brad, I do have this DeWalt 18g brad nailer and i do like it. I like how simple the gun is and how easy it is to remove stuck nail in the front. My only complaint in all of the DeWalt cordless nailers is the rev up motor. After awhile working indoors it does get annoying. I hope dewalt can change that motor. If they do, this will be a awsome nailer. Don't get me wrong still a great nailer. I also purchased the new milwaukee m18 brad nailer (gen 2) and it pretty cool. Love that you don't have to hear the rev motor. Nice that i have both but i do find myself using the milwaukee more due to it's quite motor. Thanks for the video and i just wanted to share my opinion.
@Scorched Earth If you decide to purchase a new one then get the DeWalt 20v 18g brad nailer. Especially if you have extra dewalt batteries. The new milwaukee m18 brad nailer is also a good nailer but only purchase it if you use that brand of tools. I use both brand so it works for me. I only use a 2ah or the new 3.0ah compact battery (21700 cells) on both of my brad nailers. The 2.0ah can last the whole day depending on how much casing or baseboard I'm nailing. The 3.0ah battery can last me two or 3 day depending on how much I'm nailing up. Good luck with your purchases
Michael C thanks for this, I am kind of on the fence. I have a lot of Dewalt tools and batteries, however I keep hearing how good the Milwaukee is. Plus the Milwaukee seems to be slimmer
I am buying Milwaukee gen 2. They are practically the same price. Milwaukee is much superior product. No waiting for the flywheel, 3 shots per sec, practically no jam. Has been shooting without a fail.
This tool is garbage Doesn’t function properly with nails above 2 inches and constantly jams. Also it leaves A larger hole than necessary. Total crap don’t buy it
If Dewalt doesn't have the technology to make them smaller then they shouldn't sell them: It's huge, way too bulky and ugly. It looks like a tool from the 80s. They probably came up with a new one by now.

You're welcome!
This is the best! Used it actively since day 1. No more leaky hoses, joints, noisy compressors.
I must of got a bad one.... I'm not to happy with mine
@@51-FS an 18 gauge as well? If you're in the us you can easily replace it
Trim is the worst to nail with a hammer. So delicate and very easy to dent. I'm about to go pick one of these up just because of that
Started my own flooring installation as a side earner..... best machine I own... so good for the beadings and trim... used to use a hammer panel pins and a narrow nail punch.... so slow... worth every penny I spend on it!!
Nice! it is definitely a handy gun to have, thanks for watching and good luck with the Business!
Thanks for thinking of us painters!!!!!
my pleasure, we are all in this together. got to help each other out.when we can
Just bought one 👍🏽

Great to hear! Yeah always wear earplugs, I had tinnitus once and it’s the worst

Got one yesterday! Built a squirrel picnic table with it. Love it! Works flawlessly!
249.99 with battery and charger.
Great review👍😀
thanks for watching!!
thats a pretty good deal
Where did you get it for $249.99?
Just A Guy Home Depot. Check the website it’s still 249.99 with battery and charger
Jeremy Green its $299
Yo that’s a deal 2023
Had a wicked jam that is now clear!
Some times those Jams can be crazy!
Very helpful video. I'm ready to finish my trim now. Thank you!
Good luck!! and thanks for watching
Thanks for this video. I just rented this at the Home Depot and didn’t know how to use it- you’re super helpful! I’m also from Alberta! :)
You’re welcome! Go Alberta! 😜

exactly what I needed. Thank you!

Anyone having a misfire problem with this dewalt nailer? My dewalt gun misfires and than fires after trying again. Any advice on fixing this problem??
I actually picked one up today. I like it
For some reason when I use it it fires but the nail just falls out. It doesn’t shoot it into the wood
sounds like you need to return it
Own it. I like it! I love it!
Fully charged battery, when I go to fire, blinking white light on the battery...any ideas? Thanks
I have never seen a white light before, I have no idea. I'll look into it and see what i find
Do you prefer this or the Milwaukee 18 Gauge?
Any preference in nail brands?

Bought a Ryobi 18 gage brad nailer over a year ago. I worked good for several months and then stopped. Question: Can I use the battery from my Dewalt drill.?
all the dewalt 20v batteries are interchangeable, i'm pretty sure they dont fit on the Ryobi tools.
thanks
How’s it holding up after 2 years ?
Great video- very helpful. Thank you!
you're welcome, thx for watching
can the nails be brand interchangeable so long as they are 18 gauge? lets say paslode, bostich or maybe even stanley? Thanks
yes definitely, all nail brands can be used on the gun as long as they are 18 ga nails
I had this nailer and the Ridgid version. It is very very difficult to get into tight corners.
I agree, some times the corded versions are just better. smaller, more power, always reliable
Is this the lastest model .. anyone.thanks
Would you run this for crown molding?
Yes you could. I tend to use my air nailer if I’m shooting into hardwoods. But if it’s mdf or pine , you will be fine
Hey, would this nailer work for nailing cedar shakes in the exterior of a house as well as finish nailing?
you could, but i wouldn't recommend it. it's better to use a staple when installing shakes, the staple goes over the grain of the shake giving it better holding. A small 18 ga nail can split the shake and not really do a good job in holding it down. but they are good for face nailing if you have to.
Bro. I HATE reading instructions. So thank you for the how to video.
your very welcome
great infos! I have a lot of remodeling I’m going to do and this will be a great addition to my arsenal .
Learn to spell.
Great review I want one
GREAT VIDEO!
Thank you
I own 2....they rev and don’t want to shoot. It’s incredibly frustrating. Anybody else have that issue? It revs but won’t shoot
I love mine

Wow, sorry to hear that. I have the 20v not the older 18v. I hope everything works out with your fix.

I didn't see any dents. Some people say it causes indents ....Good video
i havent noticed any, it would depend on how soft a material you are using, also if you are pushing really hard. it works great for me.

i do love Red, enjoy! thx for watching
Bravo 👏
How much is it?
depends on where you live, there are amazon links under the video for US and Canada
I want,
What other person would be more fitting to do a review on a "Brad" nailer 😅😬
This tool is garbage Doesn’t function properly with nails above 2 inches and constantly jams. Also it leaves A larger hole than necessary. Total crap don’t buy it
Also FYI Cherry And Douglas Fir Are soft materials
cherry is not a soft wood
i bought it and love it. Don't know anyone who has issues. Sometimes you can point to operator error
Do the nails need to be inside for it to run? Just bought one and its not turning on without nails
