    Such a great video, Love the content that BE is putting out. I love the show down approach, as I watched these, I can't help but think how the Allied BC40, and the Transition Spur fit in the mix. I think they fit somewhere near the Cervelo. looking forward to the next video...good work!!!👏

    Outstanding series! I fall squarely in the trail rider who wants a fast, fun and capable bike and couldn't care less about Strava times much less racing. I've been eyeballing the Blur to add to my Chameleon, but my lizard is so much damn fun that I just can't see myself having any more fun on the trail on any other bike..... and my bank account. I like my bank account.

    I’ve ridden blur TR for Whiskey, Silver Rush, and Leadville this year. Your comment exactly why I picked it. Didn’t feel beat up at all after any these events. Very fun to bomb down decents. I’d prefer a tall boy, but still pretty plush.

    I test rode an OIZ and a Revel Ranger back to back & went with the latter because the suspension was so plush. I hope I made the right decision. I ride XC about 9 months out of the year in Mexico, where XC is huge, and trail ride the rest of the time in central Texas.

    Great review. Now the question would be the SC Blur or the Ibis Exie: Battle of the Nor Cal Brands or The Santa Cruz Rumble. Both great pedaling bikes that won't kill you on the downhills. Before I break down and buy an e-bike, I want to keep my man card and step down from short-travel trail bike to capable cross country to keep up with the youngens

    I really like the idea of this bike but being 100kg I would be concerned about the range on a 40-50km 1,000m climb kind of ride. Would be keen to hear from heavier owners to see what they think. Another great review Will, thanks.

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  10 місяців тому +1

  • @mrvwbug4423

    I'd think the "no intention of racing just wants something that climbs well and won't kill them on the DH" type riders would be better served by a trail bike. A light, comfortable trail bike is going to be easy to ride all day, and confident on downhills as long as you aren't trying to go park or race pace. Something like a Ripley, Trail 429, Trance 29 or Tallboy.

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  10 місяців тому +1

      Sure. A trail bike is much more confident on the DH. They don’t hold a candle to these in climbing performance though. If I constantly rode blues and greens and wanted to climb well, I’d take one of these.

    I know it’s been a long time since you reviewed the cannondale scalpel SE, but maybe you can still remember your riding impressions. It would be very interesting to know how the scalpel se fits into this bunch of xc bikes. The scalpel seems a bit outdated and especially the geo is a bit conservative, but it's seems to be not far from the geo of the Blur.

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  10 місяців тому +3

      I think it's closer to the Oiz than anything. Has a similar, firm suspension feel. The reach and WB are pretty long though (at least in XL) so that does add some stability on the DH.

    Great video series. These style bikes are the type that fit best for a majority of modern riding. Most mountain bikers buy a bike for the riding they wished they did, as opposed to the riding they actually do. For some reason they get really hung up on their image.

    Late comment on a year old video, so no worries if you can't respond. For something like a 50-miler, would you ever consider something like a Trek Top Fuel 9.8? Or would the weight penalty for a bike of that nature outweigh the benefit of having slacker geo and more comfortable positioning?

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  Місяць тому +1

      Not familiar with the top fuel. We don’t carry trek. I did a 50 mile endurance race in some pretty technical terrain. I rode a Trance 29. Personally I prefer a little extra comfort and control especially because I’ve got no shot at winning a race like that.
