Next Top Upcycler is a sustainable fashion design competition where contestants from all over the world share their journey and one-of-a-kind fashion upcycles for the opportunity to win $800 worth of dream #upcycle tools. Each week we watch a new contestant transforms menswear into an original fashion piece for themselves. At the end, viewers will vote for their favorites. The dress couldn’t be better, it’s perfect! She da best.
I love Fer's fight to stay true to her design!! She saw the dress in her mind and placed it into reality. I loved all of her expressions like "Frankensteining" and her avoiding the "1770's Colonial Williamsburg" look, etc. This is all the editing of the design she did. These are the very edits that kept her in pursuit of the design that she set out to achieve. All of this is instructive for me. I appreciate seeing her refining her thoughts. Her finished garment is eye-catching. It is designed for harmonious motion that accentuates femininity. It's not just the asymmetry guiding the eyes, or just the splits and ruffles that make the garment dynamic, it's also the blocks of contrasting fabric and the lines on those blocks that cause illusion and eye movement. So, your eyes are going to move whether you are up close or at a distance. I think her design might have deeper implications than even she realizes that she has conceived of. I love this garment and the creation that it represents.

I relate to her a lot, I also started sewing for my dolls, and I studied business as well and now I am trying to decide my path so I feel inspired by her!

It pretty neat that she showed some local designer's work. Her design had me at hello because we always see jeans turn into skirts but now, she did this with a trouser. I love how this design came off page and into reality and she even added a geometric shape handbag to it. The freaking editing and special effect used during the video reveal was off the chart. It was particular pleasing the wall she used as a background. Question what was the phrase meaning? I figured out the last 2 words I think (high school Spanish still remember very little) our liberty. What the first word? Slept in today it's for my birthday (turn big 60) present to myself so I missed the live airing. Look forward to seeing videos on working thru the self-doubt. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.

The mural reads "trabajamos nuestra libertad" "working our liberty" it's a beautiful piece of street art made by local artists for the female rehabilitation center in my city. I wanted to showcase it since many of the women there find new life, hope and purpose sewing and this work truly changes their lifes and their families.
