The species Cyclamen persicum, grows well in a mediterranean type climate, so hot dry summers, and winters that are wet, yet not to cold, so no freezes. It loves rocky terrain. What we call ‘Florists cyclamen’ is actually a Cyclamen persicum hybrid. It is not as hardy as the species itself. So think a climate like that of Crete, parts of Turkey and nearby. It is a great little plant in the right climate....
What about Persian Cyclman?

There’s a reddish orange color one too.
That could be part of what they call the 'Ruby Strain'. Cyclamen are a very diverse group.
Does it smell..?
Some of the species ( wild cyclamen) have a pleasant fragrance, although not strong. The florist types have a rather unpleasant fragrance to us.
