very nice video thanks man
Probably worth getting a teleprompter, which will allow for longer takes. And maybe get a prop to hold or something to interact with...like some book.
I'm particularly grumpy with Ancient Aliens in that they have a tendency of pairing legitimately interesting questions such as, "did have ? Here's some possible evidence..." alongside some bag of tools screaming about aliens and lizard people thus completely delegitimizing an otherwise valid point of inquiry.
History Channel could seriously run an entire series of show's exploring exactly those types of questions.
HC was destroyed by progressism.
As for advising us to get our history on youtube, I'd just have to say you can expect youtube to censor out any truth, so it's probably no better. Sadly, A&E didn't just torch history. They torched science, too, and probably more.
When independent UA-cam History channels are more accurate than modern corporate History Channel
The one example of the Internet fulfilling an educational purpose.
Right ? 😂
Can we even call the History Channel modern? They've been around since a decade before UA-cam
None
Also mention Simple History, History Matters, Oversimplified...
Simple: the History Channel stopped being about history. It betrayed its own name. Just like MTV did so long ago when it stopped being about music.
Yeah, look at "The Learning Channel" you learn nothing on that cesspool.
And Discovery Channel. What has happened to History channel is nothing new or unique.
Hawk 1966 it used to be science related before Honey Boo Boo.
Agree. When History Channel still focused on history, it was among my favorite channels. But I had gradually lost interest after they began replacing history-related programs with something like aliens, pawn shops, swarm people, truck drivers etc.
All their shows are fabricated, there’s nothing real, it’s all staged, Fake... It’s worthless now.
I stopped watching the History Channel one year when, on Veteran's Day, they aired nothing but Pawn Stars. On Veteran's Day.
Yeah, they could at least have binged R. Lee Ermey's shows - Mail Call, Lock and Load, etc.
Every Remembrance Day (Canadian Veteran's Day, Nov 11) I always binge watch WWII in HD Color, crappy name, wonderful documentary series!
@@rcknbob1 And with all those old war docs, that have rarely been replayed, with an audience WANTING to watch, utterly shameful and simply bad business.
That moment for me was Memorial Day about 8 or so years ago. Nothing but Pawn Stars and Anerican pickers, All. Weekend. Long. I had originally puchased cable TV for "The History Channel" alone. Sometimes I start frothing at the mouth when I think about it.
Wait, a few years ago the History Channel was infamous for showing nothing but WW2 documentaries. On a day when it would have been appropriate, they didn't?
Well done, The Learning Channel (TLC) went down the same rabbit hole. Nothing to learn there anymore.
You could learn how stupid TLC is
@@strike2000 That's the only thing you learn their.
I grew up on the "old" Discovery/History/TLC back in the day... now they are a shell of what they once were and it is painful since it feels like they have tried to scrub any history of what they USED to have! It is a shame but not surprising...
Don't even get me started on TLC. . .
@@TheRealSuperRabbid "there" 😅
History Channel used to have so many good shows that actually taught you something. Now it's about antiques and ice road truckers.
And ancient astronaut theory
Yep
This my childhood shows i love ww2 documentaries but now there now talking about old things and alien.
I miss Ancient Warriors and Great Battles of History
And about businesses.
I used to live on the History Channel, Modern Marvels, Engineering an Empire and everything Rome related. Then came Pawn Stars (have nothing to do with history), then historical docs fell off the air in favor of shit like Ancient Aliens and I checked out and never returned.
Ancient Aliens SUCKS!
@Adil Alfa it's okay at least now you understand that it was false information. Aliens do exist but attributing historical achievements to aliens is definitely wrong haha
Drawnby1 Precisely why I stopped watching!
Pawns stars tells about the history of the items so you’re are wrong

Forged in fire is the only good show left on the channel
Getting into Oak Island. LOL. Lead Cross? Could this mean bla bla bla. Or could it mean bla bla bla bla. We spent a whole bunch of money to travel to France to talk to some guy and ask him. Guy - Yup, it's a lead cross.
There's a money pit there alright. Taking all of their money.
You gotta ask yourself!
I hate that alien show so much.
@@Lowen264 It said that Steve Jobs was influenced to build the iPhone by aliens.
In their defense, I used to wake up in the early hours of the morning to watch documentaries about the early Soviet and American space programs on the History Channel. Those documentaries were actually very well put together, contained tons of interesting footage and information I wouldn't have found quite as interesting if reading from a book. This is when I was a child in the 1990s, so, before their extreme downfall. But in those days, the History Channel was actually good at doing what it purported to do.
The earlier History Channel doesn’t need defending, as nobody is attacking it. The criticism is aimed at the garbage can it evolved into.
What ruined the channel in one sentence:
“Just let me call a buddy of mine, he’s actually an expert in ancient alien Bible codes.”

Long live History based UA-cam Channels.
Fall of Civilizations Podcast. Doesn't get better than that one.
And these legacy TV execs can't understand why people are cutting the cable. Pretty soon it will be cut on things like Netfilth too.
I can't tell you how much I LOVE UA-cam for the amazing content put out by people who just love the thing they're doing a video on. Like music, aircraft, sports, cars, guns, engineering, photography or any sort of history. Some is just whatever but some is better than anything Network has ever produced.
I just found one on Ice hockey that really focuses on the 1970's which is an era I find super interesting even though I was just a baby when it was happening, I love this stuff. Do you think I would find this stuff anywhere except UA-cam or similar? Nope, wouldn't exist.
Mind you Tiktok is actually pretty good too if you can just scroll past the lip syncing dancing junk there's a ton of cool stuff on there as well. The clips are typically 1min or so but can be longer with multiple parts again on all sorts of topics.
Why would I want to ever have cable or TV when YT and TT can provide so much awesome?
I agree. I also hate the Travel Channel, I don't believe in ghosts, and all their "Ghost hunting" is contrived Bullshit. I would rather watch "Man vs. Food".
they pretty much lost me as a viewer with ice road truckers, and 'ancient aliens' just filled me with contempt for them.
History, Discovery, A&E, Animal Planet, MTV. I remember when they covered the subjects in their names and not reality BS.
I hate "reality" TV. It makes me wish they has a "TV BS" rating for that dreck.
discovery and animal planet was literally the 1st english class, then after middle school i found them filled with reality shows, and reality shows only.
So fo I. Reality TV type programs became popular, so they lowered their standards to 'compete'. I'm sorry they did.
TLC used to be "The Learning Channel" and they had great shows about science... and then for some reason, that started playing all idiot friendly shows and even pedo-friendly shows like toddlers wearing tiaras and Honey poo poo (or whatever the fuck they're called)
My wife and I were avid History and Discovery viewers on cable. Then we got satellite TV in the early 00’s and we got MORE Discovery and History (swoons happily) to feed our addiction!
Then came Ancient Aliens, Pawn Stars etc and the reality TV drek and we are left with HGTV, Guy Fieri and the BBC for news. I can’t believe how lowbrow America has become - it baffles me how the nation which created flight and moon landings has sunk to these levels. 🤦🏼♂️
As a GenXer when the History channel debuted in 1995 it was an instant hit. Tales of the Gun and Modern Marvels were my favorite shows. Drama and reality shows killed it. I haven’t watched it in years.
I liked it when HIstory did shows about life in the Wild West. They could have done shows about life in Colonial Times, (hygiene, how people went to the bathroom, where garbage was taken, how did people bathe etc.)
I loved Tales of the Gun and Modern Marvels. These shows sparked my interest into firearms and construction. I would say growing up as a kid watching the old History Channel made me into the man I am today. I'm very grateful for growing up in the 90s and having good shows to educate me.
I'm in the same boat as you, i was born in 95 and remember watching it as a young fellow while i played with my lil action hero dudes lol. I absolutely loved mail call and got to meet R Lee Ermy (only for a second) and i respected the hell out of the early shows. Shootout was another cool one, loved modern marvels(besides them replaying reruns after reruns on occasion).
What about docu-series like The Food that Built America, The Cars that Built America, and The Men that Built America?
@@tigertank06 I loved American Eats.
Don't you just love how recent history feels historical when you have a good historian telling the history.
I was 25 when the History Channel premiered and I thought it was Awesome. Its wasn't just WWII stories but ancient history(no aliens) Medieval, archeology etc. Then about 2008/10 it Jumped The Shark, and landed into the cesspool. Now I'm a bitter old 50 year old that members' Mtv, the 80's and cable TV before reality shows killed it. I have dumped cable and don't miss it one bit.
Hey there still some good in history channel
Shit i feel you
I really don't understand the people that still pay for cable. Literally everything you might want to watch is available online somewhere, usually for free. There is no valid reason to continue to pay for cable.
Rowynne Crowley some cable companies make you pay $100 for internet alone and then $120 for higher cable and internet. So because of that people are like fuck it it’s only 20 bucks.
Things were bad enough at the history channel but then they had the nerve to produce a little gem called "Appalachia Outlaws". What a piece of shit that turned out to be. Anyone who watches that crap is as ignorant as the hillbillies they portray on that show.

Don't let your index finger look like it's having a seizure while your other ones are bent, don't look like you're having a thumb war with an imaginary opponent or raise them up looking like your giving a villainous speech etc...This can be very distracting to your audience, and shift focus away from the message entirely. Not saying you do this excessively, I just thought I'd offer some constructive criticism. Keep up the good work!

methos1999 funny enough i believe curiosity stream is run by the same guy that started discovery channel. Or it might have been one of those other straming services that always sponsors youtubers, but seems like this guy has a monopoly in the business since no one else is successful, i've used magellan which is really good if you want pure documentaries, with a very limited selection though.
When I was younger TLC actually would air organ transplants. It was awesome.
Modern Marvels was one of my favorite shows as a young adult. I loved their all day long binge specials. I stopped watching HC after my options became reality show 1, reality show 2, or reality show 3.
Yeah MM is the only thing watching now on History...and most of the time, it's barely history, but still a great show.
We still watch Modern Marvels on Quest, which is channel 9-3 over the air in Northern Virginia.

God, History used to have so many good series. From Dogfights and Battle 360, to WWII In HD, Modern Marvels, Life After People, and so many more.
Funnily enough there is a free channel now that has all those shows lol
Wild West Tech
IMO, "Life After People" was far too contrived. It was based on the premise that human beings just suddenly evaporated. This just isn't going to happen, ever. Wondering what would happen if they did is a waste of time. Toss in the condition that whatever got rid of human beings into the equation, along with the consequences of that condition... now you're starting to pique my interest. Nuclear war, pandemic, cosmic collision.... whatever. Each of these will play a role into what happens next, and when.
MAIL CALL!
Dogfights and Battle 360 were good but the transition had begun to "America Eff Yeah!" propaganda pieces. I think my favorite episode of Dogfights was when they actually talked about the Germans ramming B17's, because all the other episodes were about how awesome the American pilots were. They should have had an episode of Dogfights dedicated to each nation's best pilots in WW2
In the 2000s, I appeared on 9 History Channel programs as on-air historian/host. I was also the screen-credited historical researcher on 5 programs (mostly Modern Marvels). Eventually they began caring less about historical accuracy. Sad to see a great history network become a "reality" program host.

@C-Bomb I watched an episode of that. They were so impressed that a bunch of sites made a straight line on a map... completely ignoring the fact that the earth is a globe and maps distort it.
@C-Bomb The first couple seasons were decent but they ran out of material after that and are just BS'ing mostly these days. I'm shocked they are still making new episodes to this day.
@@nonna_sof5889 If that was the nazcar lines, my favourite part on that ep was when they were like "there's no way people in this era could have drawn a straight line this long!!!!!!!" and then literally show footage disproving that of people just putting two sticks in the ground attached by a piece of string between them. The Blizzard of 19-whatever would be fine, but giving EVERY 3" storm a first name, really irritated me.
Scott Michael Naming winter storms is useful.....especially if you live someplace where you regularly get buried in snowdrifts, and it helps to keep track of the different systems. That being said, I'm glad to see how many others detest the reality show nonsense.

@Johnny Rep A few years ago, yes. It was around the time when they started going >the wrong way< that every other channel did, like A&E, HISTORY, MTV, BET, VH1, TLC, TBS, Discovery (off and on), etc...they wanted the quick viewership influx dollars but didn't think about the long term and how their veteran viewers would see the change. It was pandering to the lowest denominator, showing MOVIES...on The Weather Channel. TWC had been known for producing it's own documentary-style movies in the past but when it started showing movies that barely had any relation to weather, that was it. In addition, it happened during a severe weather outbreak and they didn't cut out of the movie to do...you know, what the channel was made to do - show you the severe weather threats!
After this, new leadership was put in place and the direction was changed significantly BACK to just weather, 24/7...what we wanted all along!
My comment above was in jest, as a quick 'yeah, you did that and yeah, we remember!' kind of dig. They've done much better lately but their glory days are long behind them now and they lost a lot of the core viewership that had taken decades to acquire.

@@angrybeavers6695 Truth hurts, bud, I know. When you run into other people that don't stick their heads in the dirt, it can be scary. Take a minute, we'll wait.
@nunya business To be fair, that row boat thing was years ago. I'll grant that they like to hype storms up some, such as the utterly >stupid< insistence on naming winter storms. Not only do winter storms last a heck of a lot longer than a tropical storm or hurricane but winter storms are >not< a singularly defined entity.
When someone says Hurricane [name here], you can point to a satellite map and easily make out where it is. Winter storms can come in multiple parts, they can be caused by multiple things. Lake effect snow squalls can dump more snow than a storm yet are usually highly localized, like afternoon sea-breeze thunderstorms in FL. It might be snowing/raining on one side of the road but the sun is shining on the other. I've seen it many times. NorEasters like the SuperStorm of '93, which I lived through in NW NJ (we got over 2ft of snow in less than two days), are not usually named but are powerful storms nonetheless. It's just an asinine, irritating, confusing and useless idea.
I don't think TWC lies outright, I just think they tend to get over excited and lose sight of their journalistic integrity. I know they've been trying to get back on track these last few years. As I said, their glory days are way behind them at this point but we've seen how bad they can get when the marketing department gets the reins and runs wild...
@@MaraIndigoJade For morons like you to remove your heads from your asses? Your arrogance will prevent that from ever happening. While Making an argument against the idea that pollution is bad would be beyond stupid, the idea that science is ever settled is just as stupid, yet those of us who dare to question or challenge the laughably weak science behind the manmade climate change narrative are the dumb ones? Blindly believing what you are told, regardless of who you are listening to is what makes you mindless and stupid. Is burning fossil fuel bad? I would say yes. But poisoning our oceans with radiation and our water table with strip mines will kill us even sooner. Why don't the climate change alarmists talk about deforestation? No money to be made in planting trees. The fact is we can't quantify the true impact of CO2 emissions on the environment because we still don't fully understand the environment, which is why the predictions the same IPCC computer models that have been repeatedly used to "prove" climate change is almost entirely manmade have been proven hilariously wrong by the climate itself over and over again. in the 70's they predicted a looming ice age. When the climate warmed instead it became global warming. When the warming stopped for a while it became climate change. They haven't made an accurate prediction yet but we should blindly believe the "science has been settled?" The fact that EVERY opposing argument to manmade climate change is shut down immediately without discussion is a red flag that SHOULD implore you to question it. Scientists who are confident their theories are correct, solid and sound WELCOME challenges to their theories. Scientists who oppose challenges do so because they know damn well their theory is weak and doesn't hold water, which is usually the case when you construct data to support your claims rather than build your theories from as much data as possible. It's funny how the weather channel pushes climate change endlessly like all of the other alarmists do by pointing at every single weather anomaly as evidence of climate change whenever it suits their argument yet whenever anyone uses the same criteria to argue against it the response is always "it doesn't work that way." Which is it? Is weather an indicator of whether there is climate change or is it not? Again, I'm NOT advocating that we abandon the development of clean, renewable energy because we MUST wean ourselves off of fossil fuel. But to think YOU aren't the one with your head in the sand because the experts are infallible and ALWAYS know best is pretty damn laughable. Science is NEVER settled. Anyone who tries to convince you otherwise is full of shit.
Same thing happened with every other niche cable channel: Discovery, Animal Planet, Nat Geo/Nat Geo Wild... The majority of their lineups now consist of cheap, vapid reality and hyper-sensationalized programming.
But....but....but the 'cheap, vapid reality and hyper-sensationalized programming.' is so popular and makes more money. Just follow the money. Seems I've heard that somewhere before??? Sad statement on the mentality of the population if the majority watch the 'New and Improved' History channel vs the original old History Channel.
True but it's not their fault. A channel has enough money for one or two quality "hit" shows. And even though they rerun them to death there is just so much to go around so they revert to the cheap stuff which obviously lots of folks like. Like my friend who said, "Remember Jurassic Park? Someone wrote a book about the movie!" LOL
I guess that's why the new media market is defined by cord-cutting. It used to be that broadcast TV was full of mass-market programming, while cable and premium channels were focused on niche markets. Now broadcast TV is focused on local news or paid advertising. Cable is dominated by cheaply produced reality-TV knockoffs and syndicated reruns. Premium original content such as blockbuster movies, niche original programming or live sports is moving to pay-download or subscription streaming services. And then there is patreon and subscriber niches and their UA-cam freebie teasers.
