I wish that I will be around in the next 10 years to hear you Jonathan and how your voice will grow with your age. You are truly amazing Jonathan and I can see nothing but wonders for you in the future.

    There is something humanizing about an educated, proper opera singer say fu*king. I also love his enthusiasm for teaching and helping others no matter the genre they end up choosing. I have enjoyed watching Charlotte and Johnathan grow and change. Johnathan is an extraordinary classical singer. I think people forget Charlotte did not start out singing opera and it is a world away from theatre style singing. The fact that she was able to hold her own with Johnathan was great and to see them support each other was inspiring and very endearing.

    Just imagine being 17 or 18 years old, being invited to another country to train with one of the best of your profession, given one bit of advice, and then told you are flawless.
    I wonder how long it took Jonathan to realize just exactly what that meant?

    Interesting voice. Interesting age. I wish him the best. He has the potential, but he will need a lot of work. The raw voice is quite good, it is rich and warm and he seems to have some ability with his softer voice. The voice seems to be somewhat like a baritone (not quite) but with the tenor range, I would love to hear more operatic arias in the future.

    Talking about b flat. There's a recording here in UA-cam that compares the different b flats of different tenors. I accidentally saw it and Jonathan's b flat seem to sound very similar to Caruso..LoL..look for it it's actually the 1st one sang. It was suppose to be a guessing game. But its funny how all the tenor legends stood out among the rest. I meant I haven't really listened extensively to Caruso,pavarotti and Domingo but they are among the 5 I picked out as the beat of 20. I guess b flats says a lot about a tenor as much as a high c

    • @gustavotbf
      @gustavotbf 7 років тому +1

      I absolutely agree with you on the B flat topic. We usually measure a tenor's greatness by the power of their high C's. But it really takes a great tenor to sing perfectly controlled high Bb's, either pianissimo, fortissimo, with crescendo or diminuendo and with different vowels.

He almost breaks down, and is moved and its at that point, he realizes the birthday of Pavarotti's son (the child who died at birth Riccardo) is the same birthday as his own, although of course Jonathan is older. I am sure he will remember that and of course, it almost seems like the door is opened for him.

    Jonathan is at a critical stage though. From the sound of his voice, it seems, that he has had excellent coaching and excellent training so far. His voice has a very deep timber and he is 17. The voice will start to get deeper as he ages. HE will have to adapt and right now, he is laying the foundation. The foundation can't be rushed. I think he should pursue opera, but only he can make that choice.

    Jonathan has a fine voice in the rough, really thrilling but he simply must get his weight under control. there are too many other fine tenors to choose from with such a problem. Philadelphia's Frank Tenaglia in another example. Franks also need training. He sounded the same on everything he sung. I understand a very famous actor tried to help him but Franks could not stay on the weight loss regimen.

      He has actually lost some weight since this documentary and now seems more healthy both physically and emotionally as he was also battling with depression throughout his teenage years. It's rare to find a true bel-canto voice nowadays but Jonathan has it in abundance, he's destined to go down as a legendary Tenor even if he doesn't go into opera as a professional but I really hope that he does but he's perhaps not quite ready for it yet, his voice will be fully matured in the next 5 years or so he's still only 23 at the time of writing.

    This young man has so much natural talent that it is beyond belief. Senor Villason is right I think- he could mature into a tenor of legend if he so chose. But I son't get a sense that he is interested in that. When he says "I just want to sing" I think he means "I just want to have fun." He's 17. The attention and little income he might be making is enough right now. There is still time.

    Someone will get a hold of him and ruin the talent. Villazon seems like a nice guy as for teaching it's a lil suspect.

    No wonder they sing better than before. A good training from a professional can bring out the best.

    Oh my God...that's just from one class of a few hours, from one instructor. Both of you should be coached by some of the best in the business as often as possible, and seriously, there's a rainbow at the end of the journey for you both, and you're blessed to be starting with a legion of fans that will only grow! :) Find a path, stick with it and enjoy the experience!
