Improve your Mustang's Aerodynamics with Underbody Strakes!

- With the new S650 having the highest downforce of any Mustang from the factory to date, there has to be some big changes right? Well one of the changes is actually somewhat small and might go unnoticed to most. On Dark Horse and Performance Package models, underbody strakes come with the vehicle to help with not only cornering but straight-line speed. See how you're able to get the same performance benefits on your S550 in this video!

I would think that slowing the airflow under the chassis would actually increase the pressure. (The Bernoulli equation states that an increase in velocity leads to a decrease in pressure. So decreasing velocity would lead to an increase in pressure.).
I believe any gains in overall downforce would be due to cleaned up airflow under the chassis from the strakes (i.e. front tire wake outwash not hitting the rear tires as much; and less disturbance in the diffuser area).
For the air management, I would be willing to try these on my GT350.
Awesome! 😁
Just added these to my Steeda wish list for my RacingforALS 2020 Mustang GT PP1! 💯
The giant hole above the K-member that lets air in through the fender is likely more a problem than adding strakes. The S650 closed this area off, in fact ford copied a lot of what Verus Engineering had done in this area to include fender liner evacuation kit, belly tray, and strakes under the car. Adding strakes without the fender evacuation/closed fender may not do mucb.
I NEED THIS FOR MY S550
I'll have to grab me these! Great job.
If u want a similar product Verus Engineering also makes these as long as whole body under covers and diffuser to improve aerodynamics
I’m intrigued said my S550
I have an optioned out 2024 Mustang GT premium. Always wonder what was that
I want them but hesitant drilling my gt500
Sweet!
How do I attach them to your roadrace K-Member??? Just added your K-member to my Mach 1 and more downforce is a good thing.
The Steeda Road race K member is tubular do these work on your Steeda K member? It looks like they mount to a flat surface with specific curves.
Are these compatible with either of the S550 Steeda K braces? And will these be available via Steeda UK? Thanks.
yes they will! We're getting our first batch in very soon
On my GT500 I already have the G-trac brace. You mentioned in other comments that the strakes are compatible, do I need to remove the G-Trac to install the strakes in between the G-trac and the k member mounting points or can I just attach the strakes over the existing brace?
The strakes attach over the existing brace. If you find it easier to remove to drill the holes, then feel free. But reinstall the brace between the strakes and the subframe.
Doesnot look it fill fit with 2 point s550 gtrack brace
There's a small gap intended to fit the S650 underpanels between the strake and the subframe. This gap also works for the G-Trac braces.
Will these fit the Mach 1 with two point g trac brace from Steeda?
Yes! The G-Trac brace fits perfectly between the subframe and these strakes. In some of the S650 install shots you can see a G-Trac brace installed.
I did this months ago to my Mach 1, You'll have to cut down the sides of the vortex generators to fit the under tray, think I had to remove about 4 inches of the upper side.
Will these work with the G-trak K member 4 point brace? Looks like these go in the same spot.
They'll work with a G-Trac brace. There's a slight gap between the subframe and strake that the brace fits between.
@@steedaautosports Cool, thanks.
Lol. When i picked up my darkhorse, those were in a bag in the trunk. Salesman had no idea what they were. I guess they are going on during first service.
Same lol
Mine also, I think they are supposed to install these during dealer prep.
I just took mine in for its first oil change and they installed them for me no problem.
That's on the service department. It's a requirement for PID by Ford.
So my car came with these but they were not installed by the dealership. I found them in the trunk about a week after I bought the car. Should they have installed them if I bought a PP GT?
Definitely! It's part of the Performance Pack after all. At your next service you could ask the dealership to throw them on, which they should've done when you picked it up. Or if you'd rather do it yourself, just follow the video.
I just took mine it for its first oil change and they installed them no problem.
y $150 thats so expensive its just plastic and a little rubber?
Take a shot every time he says "strakes".
Sorry but these are doing basically nothing without underbody paneling. Any air in this air is just a turbulent mess going up past the k-member and into the body of the car
Ooo bullshido aerodinamics 🎉😂😂😂
That's what I'm thinking
Those are just another waste of money
