This little guy is so fun! I only discovered you a few months ago and I have to say that you are a great teacher! I began watercolor painting in the last six months or so and was trying to learn by myself and then I happened upon you and am now working my way thru all of your UA-cam videos. I was looking for inspiration for my granddaughter who visits me daily in my craft room. We’re going to be working in our art journals and I thought your sweet little birdies would be nice. The birds singing in the background had me wondering if they were my birds. We have a nest of baby robins right outside my window up under the decking of the upstairs level of the house. There are four babies, only 10 days old and the mom and dad are busy keeping them fed. They grow up and leave the nest so quickly…it’s been fun to share the experience with my granddaughter (she’s seven😊). Thank you for sharing your time with us, I always feel contented and inspired at the end of your videos.❤

Hi Denorah, and thanks for your cute comment!!! We had to let the hedgehog free and I hope he‘s managed to survive - he decided he was recovered and he let himself out of his cage. But it was fun while we had him, and I had never seen a hedgie up close - they are surprising animals with much longer legs than you think, and huge appetites!!! Yes, that's them! I also love Australian green gold and red gold, but my favourite is the olive green permanent. I also drove a loooong way to buy quinacridone gold by Daniel Smith, which you've used quite a bit and I now love. Thank you for inspiring beginners like me. And I have to say, I also enjoy the way you use other mediums like pens and inks etc. I love using those to pep-up my paintings. And, yes, he IS a great guy! 😊

I just love the Meeden colours they are so bright and cheerful. I do love your whimsical birds Diane they are such a delight and with the colours they just seem to put you in a lovely frame of mind for the day. This little bird could have been a PRIDE bird as I think I read somewhere yesterday it has been Pride day lately and it was these bright colours they seem to use. I got zen doodle books from kindle unlimites. Working my way through them. They really calm me down. Also, using classical music while painting. I found my happy spot. Thank you Diane!
@@DianeAntoneStudio I don't use it as much as I ought. I like it. Usually the suggested books in any subject are excellent, and the subjects are wide. At first it was canning and camping food, then all kinds of art, once it was making gifts of all kind, like wax in a glass jar for scented candles. If you have real eclictic needs, not so much. I got all kinds of beginner books on pastel painting and watercolor, enough that I abandoned my art teacher at the community college. You were real helpful in drawing me to what I want to learn or expose myself to.
It was so neat that I made a bird card for a friend and then turned on You Tube and here you are painting a very cute bird! This LOVE BIRD is a beauty!

Yes Deb, it’s quite liberating! Suddenly everyone seems to be making it, they must have invented a new machine! Meeden are going to be producing new sizes and new surfaces soon, I’ll be letting everyone know when it comes to pass. Meanwhile I’m enjoying the smaller pieces of paper, their price can’t be beaten!

I wonder. Did you do neurgrphic art before someone called I that. I know I did. Some of my favorite doodles while in school. I'm a senior citizen now. It is nice that someone found a name for it.
I'm glad you used the Meeden paint. I like mine but I haven't done much with them... I made a limited palette, I started with sap green and chose pale yellow because it has the same pigment. Then Crimson, Brilliant Purple, and Cobalt. I do believe this is the perfect paint along for me.
Thanks Windy Wednesday! I love the paint, it is so nice and vibrant and keeps all its colour when dry. And I LOVE that I don’t feel bad about washing my brush off between colours. It really helps with the clean and colourful effect! Let me know what you think about them going forward x
@Diane Antone Studio Yes! That was my first thought. I can get these huge puddles of Juicy watercolor and mix to my heart's delight and not feel bad about wiping the pallet clean afterward. Very fun.
@Diane Antone Studio Wow- wow, wow. I wanted to try out a new notebook for paint sketching (Talens art creations), so I thought I'd give this bird a try. I was worried that I had the paint too watery because I'm working from dried pans, but this paint seems to be even more vibrant dry than it was wet! ...even on "ivory" paper! The first layer is beautifully transparent, but you can definitely see the opacity in the second layer. I have seen somebody on UA-cam who works with opaque watercolors (that are Not gouache), but I don't understand what their strengths are or how to use them to manipulate the image. I'm going to try this bird again at least one more time to see if I can't get the hang of these water colors. I'll try using real w.c. paper next time, too. Cheers.
The best white pen I have found is the Uniball signo gel one. My daughter is very grown-up now, almost as old as me! She’s 45 - I was very young when she was born!

I wonder. Did you do neurgrphic art before someone called I that. I know I did. Some of my favorite doodles while in school. I'm a senior citizen now. It is nice that someone found a name for it.
I think I‘ve always tended to doodle a bit like that, but the rounding off of the crossing of the lines is different to mine…
I'm glad you used the Meeden paint. I like mine but I haven't done much with them... I made a limited palette, I started with sap green and chose pale yellow because it has the same pigment. Then Crimson, Brilliant Purple, and Cobalt. I do believe this is the perfect paint along for me.
Thanks Windy Wednesday! I love the paint, it is so nice and vibrant and keeps all its colour when dry. And I LOVE that I don’t feel bad about washing my brush off between colours. It really helps with the clean and colourful effect! Let me know what you think about them going forward x
@Diane Antone Studio Yes! That was my first thought. I can get these huge puddles of Juicy watercolor and mix to my heart's delight and not feel bad about wiping the pallet clean afterward. Very fun.
@Diane Antone Studio Wow- wow, wow. I wanted to try out a new notebook for paint sketching (Talens art creations), so I thought I'd give this bird a try. I was worried that I had the paint too watery because I'm working from dried pans, but this paint seems to be even more vibrant dry than it was wet! ...even on "ivory" paper! The first layer is beautifully transparent, but you can definitely see the opacity in the second layer. I have seen somebody on UA-cam who works with opaque watercolors (that are Not gouache), but I don't understand what their strengths are or how to use them to manipulate the image. I'm going to try this bird again at least one more time to see if I can't get the hang of these water colors. I'll try using real w.c. paper next time, too. Cheers.

The best white pen I have found is the Uniball signo gel one. My daughter is very grown-up now, almost as old as me! She’s 45 - I was very young when she was born!

I almost always use a size 8 and a size 12 round. And if I need something smaller, a size 5 or 6. Hope this helps!
