When Regina is "evil" they make her look flawless.
When Emma is "evil" they make her look like she is high and hasn't slept in weeks.

Valerie Baray Regina wasn't the dark one, whereas now Emma is. When Rumple was the Dark One, he looked like a monster with reptile skin. My guess is whoever the darkness chooses, it changes their appearances based on their personality? Whereas Regina just dressed evil through her own fashion choices basically. But I do agree that they have made Emma look quite terrifying, I wasn't expecting Once to go this dark, but it looks like they are. I can't wait! :)

jaijai1468 ....um, it was a recap within a trailer; it is a trailer because it describes or alludes to what is to be expected come next season. The recaps were meant a build-up to the final scene of the trailer, and give mystery to just how dark Emma might become.
Marcus Scott it said promo, which meant that they were gonna show us a preview of season 5, but instead they just quickly recapped the last four seasons

And they did, in fact, give you a preview; it just so happens that it was a preview where past actions and scenes alluded to what would happen in future episodes, not to mention that "THE DARK SWAN SHALL RISE" pretty much tells you a bit of what's going to happen. There's no rule written in stone that states a promo (trailer) must show scenes of what's to to be expected when a season premieres. An allusion is just as valid a form of promotion as a direct showing of scenes, albeit more implicit, which builds intrigue and further tension.

Remember she was a thief, she killed Regina's mother Cora, She's lied to Emma quite a few times. and not to mention the episode where the author turned things around and she was actually evil. so in reality she does know the feel and lure of evil.

Great progression reel. Emma's journey of self-discovery has finally led her to embrace her dark side. I love that they used Snow's voice to narrate it because I think it is Snow's turn to redeem herself. I think she has to be the one to save Emma. Not Hook or Regina. It was because of Snow's choices that caused a ripple effect of events. It was her idea to put Emma as a baby in the wardrobe & it was her idea to steal Maleficient's baby. She was preventing a certain outcome, thinking she was protecting Emma. Maybe in her mind, she thought she was doing the right thing at the time, but it seemed like the cowardly way out. She was afraid of Emma breaking her heart, so she tried to control conditions to control the outcome. Emma turned to Snow & Charming before she got sucked into the vortex, "Maybe this time you can save me as heroes…" Instead of facing their fears, they always chose to run or hide from it. Now, they are forced to face their fears in the flesh. Their worst nightmare has come true, the very thing that they tried to prevent, their daughter is finally "The Dark One."

DAMNNNNNNNN. I wasn't looking forward to Emma be The Dark One at all but after watching this I might be changing my mind. Snow's voice over owned this promo! It was awesome. Amazing. Maybe even epic. I don't think Hook or Regina or Henry is gonna save Emma from the darkness. Its gonna be her MOM! #SnowSwan That's one heck of a mother/daughter team.

Cap. Swan might not have True Love & it doesn't always work anyway. She could always pull away & end the kiss like Rumple did. AND there's different types of True Love. A mother's love for her child. Emma & Regina gave True Loves Kiss to Henry & broke a curse/got back memories. Its Snow's turn. She will save Emma.

This is the point of comic con's trailers, they wouldn't show you season 5, just recaps, and honestly, I love their promos.
I feel like they could have put more to capture it. I feel Graham's death was significant enough to be included or any footage of Neal's betrayal. The time she gave birth to Henry and watched him being taken away, because she couldn't bear to hold him. Since this is Mary Margaret talking, they could have put Emma's speech in Neverland as she was talking about being an orphan. Point is Emma has a tragic past. Every event in her life (whether it was jumping from orphanage to orphanage, being out on her own or trying to re-enter Henry's life) has weighed her down. That's what's appealing about her dark storyline, because in the sense she's free from responsibility. (The feeling that she was born for one purpose (savior) and living under a lie from her parents (her potential to become evil, which was taken at first and put into Lily)) And that's why I am excited.

@@thomasdang6322 It was from this script change that allegedly led Jennifer Morrison to start feeling worn out with Once Upon a Time. It's no wonder that by the sixth season, she made it clear that she wouldn't continue with it.

3 years later and I still get the chills right at 2:10! I'll admit that they could've done more with the Dark Swan arc but what they did already was EPIC & AWESOME!

the dark swan story was really disappointing, the promo made her look like she was gonna become evil and ruthless, but (SPOILERS!!) she didn't actually become evil at all, she just pretended to be evil by pushing everyone away so they wouldn't get hurt

Snow talking throughout this recap may be something she'll say similar in the season premiere to either Emma or the dagger? Or it is what she'll say to Emma or the dagger? Since the dagger was left behind, Snow might be the first to run to the dagger and look and it tear up a little bit, then start speaking? You gotta love Mommy Snow though.

I hope the writers improve this season to have the ratings go up so far this season has a lot of hype to it I hope it lives up to it I have not seen the episodes for this season yet they should make a show like this but a Netflix version where they release all the episodes on demand in unison.
