Some purists would bitch about grid down scenarios, where you wouldn't be able to recharge the tablet. But there are manually operated chargers available everywhere. And for what you do Lars, this is a perfect addition to your gear. Can't wait to see more winter excursions. Cheers from Canada.
Got the F101PRO phone after you showed it here mostly because of the compass gimmick on the backscreen. Have to get use to the size, but it seem durable and rugged. Kept it outside in minus 5 for two days in my shelter and it only lost 8% battery. Even left it in the snow for 30 minutes and kept it under running water for a couple of minutes just because 😀 It´s got some interesting features, like the "Gloves Mode" that let you use it while wearing gloves (funny enough) and a powerbank function. Not gonna replace my regular phone on a daily basis, but will be an "in the woods" phone. Definately gonna check out the tablet.
I don’t have much in the way of gadgets to use for the outdoors. All my outdoor adventures are with a small trailer and for sleeping in, and my Apple IPad or phone to navigate to and from my campsite. Since I am such a fair weather camper that tablet would be a waist. I’m not saying it wouldn’t be good for someone else, just not me. Good review, and hope it works out great for you. Thanks for being you, and keep up the good work.
Thats actually very very good for its price, Im very suprised, as an utility gadget guy it seems for me way more useful than regular iPad or samsung. For sure great option as an work device or it can be used as control tablet for some equipment in harsh conditions.
I'm so tempted to get one of these for outdoor use (maps & navigation), however I wonder if the 400 nits screen is adequate for daylight use in FULL sunlight (ie, no clouds or gloomy sky). The price isn't too bad for the DT2, about half the price the Hugerock X7 (2600 nits brightness) tablet that I was contemplating on getting. The DT2 battery life is a big attraction.
You're a great Guy. Your channel is so informative. Very interesting and never goes sour. I have learnt lots from you over the years. Take care and thank you.
What I want from a device is that if you drop it it doesn't sound like a maraca when you pick it up. I knocked a router/modem off a coffee table once and it was like... hey macarena! Actually this has happened many times with various junk over the years. Like every tv remote
Leaving electronics in the cold or the hot sun, is a great test. It really is. Because i can not tell you how many times i have had to stop filming due to batterys just not holding a charge due to the cold tenperatures. Ive also had issues with devices not turning on due to overheating.
I strongly recommend enabling Talkback on the tablet. This is a built-in screen reader that allows you to use the tablet if your eyes or the screen stop working. You can toggle it on and off with both volume controls, even in the lock screen. Ask me how I know... Settings->Accessibility->Talkback, shut your eyes and do the basic tutorial that fires up when you enable it.
Merry Christmas , looks like a good unit im up in Northern Minnesota so i know about cold also. Ability to withstand the winter temps is important to me.👍
Looks like a good tablet. Just need to adapt it into a war tablet like NC Scout does for radio work and you have a great coms/nav setup. Knowing how to use a compass and map are important, but in no way can a paper map have all the features of nav apps and the ability to play audio books and read documents. You really need both.
I think some people get too caught up in the whole thing to where they limit themselves unnecessarily. Yes know how to do things the "old" ways. Have those things ready to be used at a moments notice. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with building things up a little bit. Using the technology to do work for you & give you more from your use of them. If they go down then revert to the old ways until you're back up using the tech again.
Look like rugged tab with solid power, performance...but have wish to have more multifunctionality for outdoor device like IR, Thermal, altimer, air pressure, range/distance finder.....
@@SurvivalRussia Yes, right, you've already presented some interesting devices....👍🏻Following you for quite a bit. It would be great if they could combine all the features. The market for rugged phones is already attractive why not combine all outdoor specific specs for let's say 5-8 hundreds bugs instead 200 and have to miss something.
I bought the same compass back in `69 and the first time I used it, I plotted a course from a mountain lodge to a bridge 5 miles away. The course crossed swamp and heavy brush with lots of fallen timber. When I got to the bridge, I was 50 feet to the left. There is no substitute for knowing how to read a map and plotting a course that can be followed. Just like there is no substitute for knowing where you are going to. These devices are junk in my hands, I get lost turning them on. Now, a good topographical map, I can almost smell the trail. I got lost once when I was 8 yr. old and never again. Keep Safe.

£215 at AliExpress, a £175 price drop, now that's a bargain Lars, unfortunately my wife recently bought me a new Lenovo for my birthday so I'd best not buy another tablet. Hope all is well and good your end mate and have a darn good Christmas.
What are you on about, the Fossibot dt2, that you are trying to sell, has little if any relevance to me, or anyone else I can think of. No Christmas gifts here.
Many people appreciate the different reviews I make. You obviously think that whatever content I produce should have relevance to you and you only... There are many names for such personalities :) Happy Healthy 2024!!
He wants to prove that the terrorist state ruzzia does not suffer sanctions and can replace apple products by Chinese stuff. I wonder if the German or American cars can be replaced and if a Chinese car is able to run more than 6 months.

What about Android updates and security patches?
it's not a big problem, if you don't go any sketchy websites or install apps that contains malware/spyware

pity they wont post to Australia ☹ apparently the Southern Hemisphere doesnt exist.
Is it GPS? I had an early GPS and I had to download maps but it told me my position relative to the maps.
It has GPS (US), Glonass (Russia), Gallileo (EU) and BeiDou (China.)
