  • Today, I'm showing you how to remove the front axles from my AWD 325xi wagon, using this special tool which will work for any BMW axles, and is a fraction of the price of the special tool from BMW! To get the front shafts out on the E46, we first need to remove the control arm and some other bits, which doesn't take too long either.

Yep , oil pan gasket at an awd is a pain in the backside. Nice "cheap" tools are a lifesaver, at this point. Have a nice day Chris and thanks for sharing. Dutch regards Nico.

You don't need to remove ALL the stuff you said. Just wheel/tire, lower control arm ball joint, Castle nut on axle, and hammer out cv axle from rotor ...then hammer the axle out from the housing opposite direction. Done!

Whow whow whow. No need to remove all that! Just lower ball joint and calipers. I used a brass pin and heavy hammer to break axle loose from hub. You can Just muscle the assembly out of the way to remove axles. Unless you are replacing all that stuff no need to disassemble all of that.

All wheel drive. Very crap to press back in on most BMWs.

Consider getting the project completed and have part 1 and 2 available for viewing rather than completing part 1 and waiting several days for part 2.

Thank you for saying so! I'll keep that in mind, sometimes I like the sounds of the wrenches and stuff banging, but maybe I need something chill to put underneath really quiet. Thanks for watching Siyavuya.

@@TheBimmerBarn you can do a bit of both. The side of wrenches and music in one video, mix it up a bit
