I can remember when I was a young kid standing in front of the stage watching him playing the accordion, in Kingsville Tx , where I'm from.Good music to listen to no matter what
I met Mr. Tony De La Rosa in the mid 60's at Salon Calderon in Phoenix, Arizona. I will always remember after a dance he was having trouble getting his station wagon started. My cousins and I helped him push it to get it started as he needed load up and travel to Bakersfield, California to perform. In my opinion he is the best Tejano polka player of all time. He will continue to be one of the masters of Tejano music along with Ruben Vela, Paulino Bernal, Oscar Hernandez etc...
This was my husband's (Jose Hernandez) Tio Tony. When Joe and I were young we attended many a dance when Joe's Tio Tony was playing here in Chicago at American Hall on 18th St. (Pilsen neigborhood). Joe loved his Tio..sadly Tio Tony is gone now and Joe passed away last year. Many fond memories when I hear this music. Joe never forgot his Tejano roots...being born in Texas, raised in Dilly, TX...
El sentimiento del maestro Tony de la rosa nunca pasará de moda porke el maestro lino siempre en su mente y en sus presentaciones lo expone en su máxima expresión ke no dale mas tejano dale mas
