I believe the edge was machined, and it likely was rough cut quite large prior to machining, which should remove any heat affected area in the machining process

Yes, any solid will act as an abrasive. If the flow rates are high enough it can be quite dramatic.
How would you measure the erosion on the partition plate? And how would describe it in a report? Thank you !
I measured this erosion with a Thorpe gauge, which is what I use almost exclusively. When my Thorpe doesn't fit, I'll get creative.
