Thank you for this video. JC is a smart man, if you install them where the instructions say to put them, then they will be very difficult due to support plastic on the underside. So double check your location before you drill. I like JC's location much better. Second I had done the aquarium hose fed into the split in my trunk lid gasket as an initial fix. In my case the gasket was too far gone from years of use, and didn't work to support the lid. I removed that hose, as these are all that is needed to replace that worn out gasket. Third JC mentioned how hard it was when it was cold. Well as a good suggestion i soaked my bumpers in hot water first to get the rubber as soft as possible, and it worked really well with no soap needed I was just able to work them in fairly quickly

I have also threaded a smaller diameter rubber hose inside the the trunk lid rubber peripheral seal. Takes some dish soap but it will go around. This is less invasive and seems to increase the cushion for closure. Looks like your bumpers are working as advertised... happy riding.

Mark do you remember what size hose you used. I used that on my wing years ago but forgot what size the hose diameter was.

@@nicholasj.sucarato4729 Aquarium air hose was recommended on the forums, and with a little Jigaloo i was able to get it into mine. However my gasket was so far compressed it was touching the trunk already, and the hose didn't work. So i went to the bumpers instead. If you do the hose it's done in 2 pieces, one each direction from the factory split at the front of the trunk lid, and should be long enough to meet at the middle back.

Honda has always needed a better solution to keep the lid from rubbing on the body. I fed some air line tubing through the gasket on both my wings to stop that chaffing. I have read those bumpers are hard to put in if it's cold, I guess you could always warm them up in some warm water first. Looks like they work good and they are cheap...

    Bear hug that trunk!

On my 2001 Voyager they used a rubber gasket in the lid to seal the trunk, but there is a lip that stands up on lower portion of trunk to make the seal between lid and bottom. Is there any way the Goldwings trunk could be sealed in that manner? It would seal trunk from weather and stop the rubbing too.

Looks like that would put a lot of pressure on the hinges?

Do you think the bumper may increase or improve the amount of load the trunk rack can handle? It may prevent some lid flex due to trunk rack load.

How is your trunk lid gasket going to seal after adding the bumpers, keep an eye on the hinge mounting points for stress cracks!!!!

Goldwing owners has been using Buggy Bumpers for years, including Brother Cowboy, everyone I know that has these install on there Goldwings give it a 5 star rating and they absoulutely love them. Have you ever installed these on your trunk or have experience using Baby Bumpers to leave that type of comment or are you just making a blind assumption?

My bike is a 2005 and i installed them right after I got the bike and there is no problem at all of the trunk lid sealing as a matter of fact it helps keep the trunk from vibration of the trunk, by giving it a tighter fit. I think Honda should have made it a standard They have been on my bike for over 10 years I Love them and recommend them Highly Brother Cowboy out.

My question is , where you having problems with your trunk , no closing, that you needed to install theses bumpers . Mine closes and opens fine ...or is it through time it wears, open 🤔

    • @SunyJim

Over time the rubber on the lid, gets thinner and weaker, and the trunk lid sits right down on the ridge of the lower trunk with no gap. You'll typically see worn paint at this point where Chris has the soft velcro. No issue opening and closing, but probably not good in the long run to have it banging down wearing paint and sitting so low.
