    The mat scrubbers are so cute but I've never seen them before, so it will be interesting to see how they work. Thanks for all your tips regarding the embroidery and especially your thoughts on the frame! If I end up using it, I'll probably use the embroidery hoop screw as my hanger. I've done that in the past when using a hoop as a frame, so we'll see how that works. I love how yours turned out, so I'm eager to get started on mine.

      Thank you! This one was pretty fast. It took about two hours total to make, and I could do it while watching TV, but other projects like the house quilt from Day 4 are a bit more challenging to do! Also, since Sew The Distance is my full-time job, it is part of the gig. ❤️

    Great job on the embroidery. I too like the frame you found. Mat scrubber is awesome for dry cleaning your mat, taking threads off clothes or cleaning the lint off the brush you use to clean your sewing machine.

    Many thanks for the tips for yesterday's gift. I liked the idea of stitching around the edges of the fabric and get a round glass to make a trivet instead of hanging the design. Plus, making a quilt out of embroidery square is also a great idea. Just a great day. Till tomorrow.

    The way I finish my emb in a hoop is once it is finished, I place a piece of material the same size as the pattern on the back of the project and then hoop. Then I trim along the edge of the hoop so that it is flush with the hoop. So when you look at the back you don't see the back of your project.

    • @Pauline_Bees
      @Pauline_Bees 9 хвилин тому +1

      I also do that. Sometimes I use a lightweight fusible interfacing on the back before the final hooping and trimming, especially if I think the fabric can use a little more body.

    So I think if you’re going to use the frame sent with yesterday’s project you should cut the excess fabric away from the hoop and then put the hoop in the frame. Thanks for your videos and keep taking time to sew!!

    • @SewtheDistance
      @SewtheDistance  9 годин тому +1

      That's a good idea, although the frame opening is the exact same size as the hoop, so you may want to leave a bit extra so the edges don't poke through. I hope that makes sense.

      I like to make the projects so I can offer opinions and advice on them. Also, Sew The Distance is my full-time job, so I do work 40+ hours a week at it. That makes a difference. This project was pretty easy overall. It only took me about 2 hours to make in all. It's a fun one! Quilt projects are a lot harder to get done, like Day 4's project. I did get the quilt top finished (shown in Day 5), but I still haven't quilted it yet.

    Never used these cute little scrubbies. I tested the suction cups on back but they don’t work when dry. Maybe they need to have some moisture on them (? ) I didn’t try that yet. How pretty your embroidery turned out! Love it! Worked on mine last night for a bit. Am thinking about trimming some of the fabric off the back afterwards because I don’t particularly like it all bunched up, even though it won’t be seen. And adding some felt to a circle made from some ridged stabilizer I have on hand for a finished look on the back. We’ll see! Very curious about tomorrow’s gift, feels like a box inside the bag, which “puzzles” me since so far the “box” has been the wrapper. haha

    Love Chuck the Duck! I don't scrub my mat; am I weird?

    • @marinaabad4995
      @marinaabad4995 9 годин тому +1

      If you have a self-healing mat, not scrubbing it to remove the lint, threads, fuzz, contributes to its breaking down & having to replace mat for accurate cutting. The mat can't heal itself if it's full of thready stuff so it stays open & breaks down. Also, not removing the stuff, then transfers it onto the next fabric, so you can get loose threads on it & into your piecing. Also dust & dirt accumulate on it, transferring to the next fabric.
      Are you weird? Nah! But spending money on equipment, tools, notions, & not regularly maintaining them, can be stressful when you need an item & it's not fully functional.
