Not hard to believe at all. There’s no retirement plan in the street life. A lot of street dudes wild out while they’re young because they don’t expect to see old age. When they do get older, they tend to end up homeless or strung out on drugs dealing with PTSD from past traumatic experiences.

I read the book too and saw an interview with Monster's mother(Rip) and brother. They visited Monster in prison. The visit was all good until his dad was bought up. Out of all of the toughness, Monster shed a tear; was really like a kid. I wasn't impressed by a sad life. Thug, prison, Thug, prison homeless death in the woods. What a waste.

Years ago I read "Monster", Mr. Cody's story of the violence he found throughout his turbulent life in the neighborhood gangs of south central and in various prisons. I'm an avid reader and sometimes writer who was totally blown away by the intelligence, vocabulary and insight Cody possessed. I'm an older white man who grew up in a safe, loving home. I believe if monster and I had traded childhoods, I probably would have been to prison, and the sky would be the limit with his potential. It saddened me to hear he died

And I do believe that given different upbringings,Kody Scott would have excelled in something positive given his mind. I was a skinny kid at this time. 120 pounds on a heavy day. He assumed I was gonna grab one side and he would grab the other. I was still so fried I snatched the TV up no problem carried it to the curb and dropped it off went home and passed out. On everything I love. I woke up that afternoon, I had 2 straight line bruises on each of my for arms where the edge of the TV dug into my arms it was so heavy. I couldn't even move that thing if I was sober much less pick it up
