30 years ago there was an ending, but the music never ends. This evening we were at a tribute performance of Nirvana Unplugged and it was special. Even 30 years later in 2024 the song hits every nerve and fiber in my body! ❤

I've been listening to Nirvana since I was a young girl. I grew up to be 29 yo in August now. And I will keep growing old and he'll be forever young. What a strange feeling, emotional yet hard to describe. Feeling nostalgic...
Not true they performed in Italy and recorded You Know You're Right very shortly before his death. He was depressed and a drug addicted mess in a toxic marriage with a nutter
Yeah, but I can see why he said that Kurt probably would lost his voice, after some time (or maybe just his raspy voice), bc his raspy voice wasn't really healthy
Best Unplugged ever!...and the only real unplugged from MTV, they didn't practice anything, they just sat and played, a true acoustic ... true geniuses !!, since its premiere, I have never stopped listening to this concert, a true masterpiece! ... Nirvana4Ever !! ..
They rehearsed for this a lot. According to the people involved, it was a mess and didn’t really come together until an extended rehearsal the night before
@@seamusmcsorley7638& all in this post: MTV would *never* post this video/concert without multiple rehearsals just for performance 'perfection' and album sales (and even using MTV's name alone signifies a shit ton of work on behalf of the band just to be able to say 'MTV'") ... that being said, there is no reason to call people names for not knowing protocol... Do we need ad hominem attacks to disagree? And before folks try to "denounce" my thoughts, I actually SAW THEM LIVE and not just on a youtube.
Unfortunately the band was taking a break. Kurt's addiction to Heroine left him destructive and out of control. The videos he and Courtney Love are painful to watch.
I've seen this a lot of times and always say that those lucky enough to be in this audience for this unplugged will know that they witnessed something special. Nearly 28 years since his passing - wow. Still listening to such a talented artist now and forever.
Over 25 years later and I still have yet to see a video of Pat playing and he doesn't have a smile on his face. You can tell he's always so happy and grateful to be playing music. 🤘🤘
I imagine you are an ignorant in the singing subject. The " rasp " in his voice obviously wasn't natural, it's called vocal drive, do some research. Joe Cocker's rasp was natural, many others, but Kurt did forced some to fit the style or whatever he meant to by that
I've read multiple times from multiple sources that Kurt was in withdrawal during this because he couldn't cop any dope being from outta state, he was admittedly scared of failing that night,, so he got through it taking Xanax... I mean you can definitely tell he isn't on heroin too, he's totally alert, not nodding out or slurring his speech, and the dead give away...One of his BEST performances of his life. Ever. I met someone a long time ago that was there in like the 3rd row and all he could really say was that people were just stunned in awe of the show and at the very least, knew they attendees to the best & most Iconic MTV Unplugged ever recorded...
He was a hopeless addict......you missed the mannerisms and tells that he clearly had dope for this gig.....if he was strung out this masterpiece would never have happened
@@spike7038 I disagree...he absolutely could've made it through this set on Xanax. I'm sure he hadn't been withdrawing for days prior to this set if it is true. He said he was really excited to to this acoustic set and truly cared how it was received turned out. I don't think he would've called it off except for a legitimate ass reason. However, I suppose we'll never actually know the truth. Just be glad it was made and recorded, I sure as fuck am..
Spike 70 you're 100% correct. Xanax would not help with heroin withdrawal. Anyone suffering from heroin withdrawal would not be able to function, as they would be vomiting cold-sweating, weak and nauseous, in such severe unbearable pain. Totally agree with you Spike 70.
I was born in 88. My mother tells me that I was captivated by this young man whenever she played his album or put him on our TV. To this day, in 2024, I am 35 and older than he can be. He's pure magic and simply wonderful.
Greatest concert ever. I cant stop going back and watching it. Been doing it for years. You can see the hurt in Kurt's eyes and hear it in his voice the entire show.
Started off nervous as rehearsals were iffy but grew into it and killed it. We'd probably have a few solo albums and collaborations if he was still around. 😕
Yeah. He had not only mental but also physical pains because He had a heroin withdrawal but received medication for it (after few songs he started feeling better)
This is the only band where it genuinely baffles me that they existed back in the early 90s, they have such a 2000s vibe its insane that they were way earlier. My brain doesn't comprehend that they were closer to the 80s than the 00s.
Birds scream at the top of their lungs, in horrified hellish rage, every morning at daybreak to warn us all of the truth, but sadly- we don't speak bird. -Kurt Cobain
About a girl had always been a favorite when I got into nirvana about a year ago, this is why unplugged was great, not because of the songs themselves but because of the songs transformed into a different style that sounded amazing
Riley Talerico-Dovel wow ! A year ago ! I was just telling my boyfriend how I remember pulling up to my job in Westerville Ohio , hearing on the radio that a body was found in the greenhouse of Courtney love and Kurt Cobain’s I thought it was just a friend of theirs only to find out it was Kurt I remember back then we wore me and my girls when we went out plaid, cotton button up shirts whatever they called those ( like my gramps lol ) anyway that was a sad time it was a loss way too soon 🥺🥺🥺😐 I was angered.. sad .. mad ... his troubles I Nope to never realize he had pain for sure 😭
Can't stand that guy. This is the one who formed a band of inferior talent and artistry called Foo fighters. Terrible to see ads to donate to the Who besides this vid. Also very concerning to see Foo fighters having concert vaccinated only. Supporters of genocide and apartheid! Kurt would be rolling in his grave!
I can't believe it, 4 months until 2025 and I can't realize how he saved my life and at the same time changed me....Do we all have the same story? 3:16
The acoustic performances by Nirvana are so relaxing, I have the Nirvana unplugged cd, my favorite song on it is The man who sold the world!! I was only 16 when Kurt Cobain died, I am now 44! He was taken from us way too soon.... Only 27 wow!!! He could have gone further had he been able to stay off the drugs, R.I.P Kurt, thank you for the music.
I am a year older than you and with growing up in the 1980's, being exposed to Hard Rock/Heavy Metal, then having it turn into the Hair Bands of the late 1980's, our generation was looking for something different. Bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, etc... brought us the Seattle Sound and it was EXACTLY what we were all looking for. I listened to a WIDE range of music, but at that time of my life (graduated HS in 1995), this was my favorite type of music to listen to. From Beastie Boys to Rage Against the Machine. From NWA to Young MC. From Pantara to Metallica. I love it all but when I wanted to jam and let time slip away, I always listened to that Grunge sound. In regards to Kurt dying at 27, or should I say, being killed at 27..... He was a candle burning at both ends. He was going to burn out anyway. People like him always do. Jim Morrison (The Doors), Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, Brian Jones (Rolling Stones), Jimi Hendrix., Janis Joplin., Robert Johnson and more. Like Chris Farley & John Belushi , we would all love to see them lived out long lives of more great material and comedy, but it just wasn't in the cards. Some candles burn bright for a long time. Some burn and then fizzle out. Some candles are burned at both ends and just can't last. Some of the best were this way....and maybe that's what made them legends? Who knows.
How ironic is that your favorite song of Nirvana unplugged is a song that doesn't even belong to Nirvana... I would have preferred that they played songs like Lounge act, Lithium and Heart shaped box, instead of that "Meat puppets" shit.
At that time I was a shy overachiever at the college. This has been the first ever listened song by Nirvana. After watching this video on MTV channel I literally overturned not only my music tastes but even my lifestyle for ever. Today I'm proud to say I've been listening to Nirvana and most of Grunge bands since 1995. What a turn. Times like these...
396,000 likes for 50 million views? That's not enough in my opinion. Most people don't seem to understand how close to perfection this was, and that there will never be another...
@@sugarfairy1117 I agree. Who cares about a number when you have such pieces of art in front of you. Music is not about the likes at all, it goes way beyond these petty things
But this is without doubt the greatest acoustic album by any band. I have introduced dozens of friends to this piece of perfection. I love and know all the small talk and chord strums - as I've probably watched thus 250 plus times - it was the staple album for me and my wee group of 5 mates - thus was the only band EVERYBODY liked and respected. Nirvana bridged the gap between hardcore grunge and rock as we know it today. Kurt Cubain - RIP brother - we will never tire of your special voice and contribution to the world of music. 💙🙏👌💯

I was 16. ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼 He left this planet so damn fast. It felt cruel.

That’s because he was a time traveler
At the end of “About a Girl”, Kurt finishes the song and he does this crazy smile.
I love how Kris’ bass just melodically plods across the fretboard bringing out little melodies of its own.
I remember watching this on TV with my Father.
He passed away 17 years ago in October.
Gone but not Forgotten!!
I know I’m late but sorry for your loss
His voice is still just so moving and powerful to me. This unplugged was the best by far in the series.
Alice in Chains' performance will always be the best for me. 2nd is by Nirvana.
This is the best unplugged of all imo. Kurt playing and singing live is so refreshing compared to most artists who can't play any instruments, let alone even sing without auto tune.
@@LauraLush0 for me Alice in Chains was the best unplugged performance. No ego involve, just pure band effort. Totally great effort by Layne staley, he is almost as dead as he could be on that point and yet he showed his vocal supremacy out of all supposedly "grunge" bands. Even kurt said that he wished he could sing like Layne.
@@godofredo0409 I thought Jerry did really good, too. I still think it's so weird that Kurt & Layne died on the same date (different years). Nirvana Unplugged was only a few months before Kurt passed.

Whoever is watching this prime work in April, rest in peace Kurt, we love you, thank you for the music ❤

I am watching Nirvana still and I'll watch them too. Forever.❤
I've been listening to Nirvana since I was a young girl. I grew up to be 29 yo in August now. And I will keep growing old and he'll be forever young. What a strange feeling, emotional yet hard to describe. Feeling nostalgic...
I just had that same conversation today with one of my friends. It's a weird feeling to be older than Kurt and Jimi Hendrix.
I am 39 and remember deeply when he decided to go to the next world in my Junior year of highschool, he will forever be young
Same... I’m 43 now. I feel it just the same as I did at 16yrs old. Very strange feeling like no time has passed but decades have.

I'm so sad Kurt died at such a young age. That voice was haunting and beautiful.
It's the reason he killed himself he contracted bronchitis and couldnt sign anymore extremely tragic
Not true they performed in Italy and recorded You Know You're Right very shortly before his death. He was depressed and a drug addicted mess in a toxic marriage with a nutter
Yeah, but I can see why he said that
Kurt probably would lost his voice, after some time (or maybe just his raspy voice), bc his raspy voice wasn't really healthy
incredibly lucky those people be able to attend this concert !
The whole time pat is smiling and he’s like “wow I’m part of nirvana this is amazing”

the rehearsals for this are literally on youtube lol
They rehearsed you dope.
There were no annoying smartphones.
Their band was so tight, yet so loose and chill. It’s rare that every mistake sounds so intentional and so good.

Tiro na mente é show nirvana ...
@@o2xb actually, this entire show was a historic live recording.
Puddle of Mudd disagree
I imagine you are an ignorant in the singing subject. The " rasp " in his voice obviously wasn't natural, it's called vocal drive, do some research. Joe Cocker's rasp was natural, many others, but Kurt did forced some to fit the style or whatever he meant to by that
You never will see a an artist like this. To those that were there. Cherish forever x

How lucky is the crowd to witness one of the greatest live performances ever! :')
He was on Valium.
You're all wrong. He was on cherry flavoured antacids

He was taken from us way too soon.... Only 27 wow!!! He could have gone further had he been able to stay off the drugs, R.I.P Kurt, thank you for the music.

Love that song, too. Been playing it for days.
He'd probably get cancelled for some dumb reason if he was alive today
Rest In Piece Kurt, you were always there for us when we needed it, im sorry someone was not there for you :( you will always be #1 in my heart
