the scene with the members of the pontifix society running around the fire was bone-chilling. especially when they all stopped to stare at james in silence. that was one scene from the movie that was thoroughly scary.

Did you guys know that his last name "Lasombra"
    Means "the shadow"?
So thats a kind of foreshadowing of James not being real, more like a shadow of a person. Nice. Great video guys.

When rolling stone magazine wants to review say a death metal album from some spooky Norwegian band, they don’t ask their resident new country music writer to review it.
That same standard should apply to horror films. I don’t understand why so many of my favourite horror films are given such horrible reviews by the critical community, but I imagine it has something to do with the majority of people in general not really loving or getting what Horror is really all about.
The empty man is a great example of this. I’m a huge fan of Lovecraft and horror in general, and this is one of the best films within the genre that I have seen in years.
    Great video guys.

I'm pretty sure they completely created him - she basically said he was born 3 days ago.
They wouldn't have had to create her or her mother - they wove her into his script, and when he calls the real Nora at the end she has no idea who James is, so his memory of her is false. If you take a look at the pictures of Amanda's dead father at the funeral that James remembers, it's a picture of the man in the coma a representation for the way they all feel about the Empty Man.
They also said that it was manifestation + time = flesh she makes a point of quoting that and saying "your flesh".

    • @strategicpr8293

So his whole life had been a lie? What about his wife and son, what about the cops that he used to work with? None of them were real & just a figment of his imagination implanted by the cult?
What I don't understand is if they made him just 3 days ago and planted those memories into him, then why did the girl said to him that she knew of his indiscretions with her mom?

@@kurumi9714 now I understood the ending somehow, in the end Amanda says to James you are our tupla. So basically James was a tupla created just 3 days ago. He was born out of meditation, his wife, child,Nora, job, police, suicide kids all are illusion, whole reality experienced by James was created by Amanda's sosiety. Tupla is a buddist tiberitan concept where u create physical beings by meditation, these guys hv tr own free will,tr is short film explaning this, see ua-cam.com/video/hoaj2I0p0hg/v-deo.html

Watched this last night and like Joseph, I was drawn in and engaged though the whole thing. I was _really_ rooting for James, and wanted him to be OK. The end was therefore a _bit_ of a let down for me, but a good watch, well done, worth it. Creepy and atmospheric from the start. The Neal Cassady jokes were great 🤗
A lot of attention and care went into it, and I'm going to have to watch it again -- probably tonight. I reckon the whole town and certainly I got the vibe that the police dept. were _definitely_ in on it.

OK - Hold up! Apologies if you're both sick of hearing us commenting on your style of clothing but - DAYUM! Both of those T's are KILLING it. Also? After being subbed to many a movie reviewer on this platform - truth is - the standard (in my humble opinion) is white male..(home less/mountain man styled) beard...black T's.....copious amounts of tattoos...looking like their last shower was in March. You get the drift. You both are definitely the most classic, edgy, highly knowledgeable, 'easy on the eyes' , funny-as-hell reviewers I've come across in a damm long time. That being said: Kudos to Nick. Have always loved the original 'Wicker Man'. When will Hollywood learn to stop making these pathetic remakes? Am about to watch this movie and praying that (given your 3.5 score) it will make Halloween week 2020 worthy, as I havn't seen any other kick ass horror movies so far. Thank you, Sirs 💜

Glad y’all give the horror genre its deserved love! This was a really interesting, and convoluted picture. After it sank in, I ended up loving it. It’s like if The Bye Bye Man was actually good, while also being Hereditary. Y’all did a great job condensing this crazy plot into concise points.
Side note, I’m very envious of y’all! I wish I had a partner, or friend even, to regularly discuss horror movies with via video. I’m sure y’all have a lot of fun doing it. Keep up the good work, dudes. Awesome shit! Ok, I’m done kissing ass now. My bad.

The cult made him.. So he is only 3 days old... His memories and experienced are created by the cult.. He was created, so he can replace the old man who is in coma at the hospital because he was dying.someone correct me if I am wrong.so almost the whole movie he was chasing nothing.. because he was the new empty man... And his memories are not real... So he never even meet the mother etc. . This movie was weird for sure.. Not smart.. Just weird

Paul came into contact with an entity that can use Paul's mind to transmit (like a radio) thoughts to members of the cult. However the strain of housing the entity is killing his body, so the cult needed a new vessel.
Enter the main character, James. He was a tulpa created by the cult and his memories were fabricated and scripted by the cult. His ultimate purpose was to replace the dying Paul as the vessel for the entity. This is why Amanda's mom didn't remember him. She never met him before. It was all an illusion for James as the cult led him down his scripted rabbit hole.

    • @pyxl666
      @pyxl666 3 роки тому +2

@@kimsaabani2600 Its pretty smart. You just need to be open to and have some spiritual, non-Christian knowledge. Tulpas are a real-world concept you can look up. Not saying they are real but the spiritual belief originated long ago in Tibetan Buddhism. The movie has heavy psychological and philosophical themes. Including Nihilism.
