  • I have a lot of orks waiting in my display case to be painted. I like layering, glazing and blending as much as the next miniature painter, but sometimes you just have to bust out you Citadel Contrast and produce some quick results.

Hey guys! How do you like this color scheme? Any ideas for improving it?

I think it looks great! Though I used Casandora Yellow Shade as a first layer on the skin and then Contrast Ork Flesh, which I think does bring out a bit more fleshiness. But your model looks fantastic as always 😅

@Adam Snellgrove That sounds like a good method as well, the yellow probably gives it some nice saturation. I was considering my old method of painting some yellow, then plague bearer flesh and finally a bit of coelia nightshade to finish it off. I used that for my killteam and liked it quite a bit, but I thought I should try something simpler :)

Great color scheme, honestly it finally makes these models that I have thought to be subpar in the painting to be really good.
    Good job.

Thanks :) I had the same thought about the original color scheme, and I thought it could use a bit of spicing up. I'm glad to hear it worked :)

Hey - thanks for this video. Your yellow contrast suggested two paints. Is that a 50\50 mix of two contrast paints?

Yep, It is a roughly 50/50 mix of iron jaws and iyanden yellow contrast from Citadel

With your zenithal, I'm assuming black primer from an airbrush then white over top of that?

I really like how quickly you did this. All the colors are great matches. One question. You said you used sigvald burgundy. In the video its a very rich red but i have that same color and it comes out more pink. With a second coat it comes more burgundy than the red you have. Did you maybe use a different red or do something to make it redder?

Hey there! The original idea was the sigvald burgundy, and that is probably why I said it in the video as well, but once I tried it I realized that I needed an actual red. I think I ended up using Blood Angels Red instead.

Love the colours! What is the name of the purple colour on the tongue and wire on the back of the gun? 😊

What was used to paint the tongue?

If I remember correctly, I used Volupus Pink Contrast.

What did you use to paint the red eyes?

Unfortunately, I didn't make any notes about this one, but looking at it, I probably painted the eye white and then used red fluorescent paint over it.

What did you paint the Dinosaur shoulder armour with? Is that "just" the Zenithal highlight with some added highlights? Or a whitish Contrast? Looks really good 😁

If I remember correctly, I painted some apothecary white over the zenithal and then highlighted the edges a bit later :)
