Lark M2 are a lot louder but as in all reviews, they sound tinny and hollow. Dji much more full and softer. Rode is a no go as they arent mini at all. I have the Hohem Mic 01 and theyre just fine. I record with them in hockey rinks and they do great
I love the DJI Mic Mini. I bought just one transmitter to use with my Pocket 3 and Action 5. It works great! But I still like my DJI Mic 2 so I can plug in a lav mic and hide it. Great video. - Ed
The Lark is admittedly slightly tinnier...but they're so comprehensive, discreet, and option-filled when it comes to connections and looks. I love it. Unless you know you require more...they're more than capable. Good video as usual DM.
Great test David. I was hoping somebody would make a test like this. I only have some of those mics so I was not able to test them against each other. Cheers from LA.
I'm convinced! I'm buying the DJI Mic Mini, since I can buy just the transmitter and mic; because (so far) I'm only gonna be using it for recording at home, so I won't need the charging station or the extra mic just yet. And when I do, I can just buy it separate aswell for less that 20euro extra as opposed to spending more now and not using over half of it.
Great content. I will like to record a service at church with my insta 360 X4 and a mic or Conect to the sound table what/how would you recommend? Thanks
Oh man, that drone is the best! I've got a bunch of drones around here, but almost anytime I go out, I grav the Mini 4 Pro. As for tips and tricks, nothing too crazy, that drone is super easy to use. For sure grab some ND filters for it and if you can do some editing in post, shoot in D-Log M mode for the best quality!
I love the dji mic mini, I use for my motovlog video, size perfectly fit inside helmet, can connect directly to dji action 4, the only issue the wind noise clipping at 70mph, hopefully they can improve wind noise cancelling
I have the DJI Mic Mini and I love it! It sounds great, works well with my iPhone and DJI Action 4, and it is practically impossible to get it to clip!
The DJI Mic 2 isn't in this category, though. This category is about regular folks wanting a wireless mic without needing any of the bells and whistles. Thus it's a simpler and cheaper model.
I always think and the situation I need noise cancelation is in a crowd environment, where everybody talks, but I only want one person's voice..that should be the best condition to test noise cancelation...
I’m waiting for a manufacturer to build a remote lens for an iPhone. Just stick the little lens up on your helmet. Do all the recording on your phone in your pocket.
HL M2 is the winner to my ears. Tone is deeper, audio is louder, and its size beats the other two, it’s unobtrusive, no in-your-face branding and the price is just right for folks like me. 🤑😎🤑 And yet, I wouldn’t recommend the HL M2 due to the flawed wind muff engineering, which is to say it’s practically impossible to get it on.
I'm hoping that after seeing what DJI did with their wind muff on such a tiny mic, Hollyland will redesign a bit and use the same method of a small click on wind muff for future versions!
@@DavidManningvlog Yes! I haven't checked to see if I can leave suggestions on their website or not. But they'd be more inclined to take a suggestion from you over me. 😎
The DJI sounds most natural, but comes out "lower" audio level wise. Holly has that gamer mic kind of "Brightness" to it, where it just sounds more like an announcer, Rode seems in the middle, Rode seems a little "Brighter" then DJI, but it also doesn't sound Raw. The best way I can compare them, is DJI sounds like a studio Microphone in quality, Rode sounds like a professional level gamer headphones, something that if you heard in game chat, you wouldn't have to turn them up, and Holly sounds like you took the Rode headphones, and used an equalizer to increase the audio in it because everyone says "we can't hear you". They all sound nearly identical. Honestly, unless you have a voice made of Gold, Rode or Holly might be better, David has a slighter higher tone voice, and Rode + Holly compliment it like if he was doing one of those mic videos where you hold it up to random people and ask them a set of questions. Those 2 just have that level of quality, while DJI has a better if you want to focus on the "post edit" side of things.
The DJI mic mini would’ve been the ultimate package if it included a dedicated receiver for a smartphone. Their receiver is too bulky and cumbersome for a smartphone.
I never got a feel for its size until I saw it in person. It is much smaller and lighter than I imagined from what I’ve been seeing on UA-cam. Although still no match for the Hollyland.
@ First…he says the pros and cons of each item on every video. Secondly, he doesn’t say buy this or buy that…he explains who would want to buy each product. Thirdly, DJI has taken over the action camera industry and has set the pace for the past 3 years and although Go Pro will always be King and the action camera people mention first (in terms of people that don’t own an action camera), they have forced other action camera companies to keep pace with them. Competition is good for quality and keeping the price low as possible. As for the mic…I have the DJI Mic and love it. Looks a bit odd when connected to my Action 3 but I don’t think DJI was thinking having the Mic connected to an action camera.
Ok, so yes, 99% of your audience is probably going to be using these mics to record their voice... But hear me out on a different video topic: do a side by side capturing SFX. 1. No one else is doing this. 2. This can be a nice segue to introduce and encourage people to a whole new world of sound design as an art. 3. It'll serve as a fun, creative challenge to find the weird and interesting places you can mount the mics to get real world sounds. 4. We can see how these mics hold up in these scenarios
How can the lack of space in a case for wind muffs be a “big note”, yet you don’t even comment on DJIs terrible receiver? This is a well produced review, but holy hell is it biased.
In day to day usage, it's a big deal. Everything inside of the case is key and I've given the DJI Mic 2 a ton of flack in the past for not being able to hold the wind muff on the mic. I'm a huge fan of the Rode Wireless Pro because they CAN keep the wind muff on in the case. So weird that they ditched that feature on their Micro series mics
We're all gonna feel stupid once they add 32bit float + internal recording to any of these form factors, cause you know it possible they're just artificially limiting the feature to sell more units.
The Lark is louder but I don’t think it’s better. DJI sounds fine but personally I think the Rode is more pleasant sounding. It’s clear and not amplified sounding like the Lark sounds.
I think the Lark M2 sounds the best. But I have the DJI Mic 2 that came with my pocket combo. But I use the lark with my 15 pro max and the mic 2 with the pocket. Bug really like the sound of the lark with your comparison.
By the way the Rode wireless pro works with all cameras... I use it with the ace pro 2...worls perfectly... Also, I have dji micro as well... Love both of them... It's just easier to pop out the rode and connect than the Dji mini... But I Love the size of the mini
Thanks David... Watched a short on the Hollyland and then checked in with you... So glad I did... The pros and cons much better here.. ease of use matters, don't know why it isn't always a major consideration... ✊🎄
That's the thing that DJI has always been so good at. Their UI and product setup is always so straight forward and easy. They're very Apple-esque in that way!
Wow! What a useless review. Thank god I actually know about these mics because obviously you haven't got a clue. Over half of the features of these units not even mentioned, let alone evaluated. Half of the stuff you did mention you got completely wrong and a third of the "review" was just an add. Mate, you're probably good at something but this ain't it.
Wow! What a useless comment! I usually don't engage but this is some condescending crap coming from an unhappy person. Eesh. I really wish for you to find other ways to feel seen, validated and important other than writing negative comments.
Interesting. The Lark M2 sound quality doesn't seem to stand up to the other two when you were plugging SquareSpace. There, that's another plug. :) It's worth mentioning that the Rode Wireless Micro (and maybe the DJI mic which I don't have) can be clipped to each side of a baseball cap so the the mics are inconspicuously above your ears, and then you can record binaural stereo sound wirelessly at the next rock gig you go to in clandestine fashion.
Lark M2 are a lot louder but as in all reviews, they sound tinny and hollow. Dji much more full and softer. Rode is a no go as they arent mini at all.

Man!!! Love The Way You Compared The Sound Quality Of These Wireless Mics!! 🎬🎬🎬
To my ears.. DJI MIC MINI wins.. It depends on your sound preference..
I ordered DJI Mic Mini.. 👌
Wait what? Never know about that triangle at the back when using the wind muff I normally ease it off then position it, thanks!👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿
Awesome! Love you reviews! Just got the mini 4 pro drone for Christmas and it is awesome! Do you have any tips on it and any unknown features?

THE comparison I've been waiting for!

Should've done the test on the same input, pre amps are going to be different across all the devices which is going to impact the sound and volume
on the pocket 3 in the video, you have a shorty extension with a mini tripod, whats the goings on with that? im interested...
I have the DJI Mic Mini and I love it! It sounds great, works well with my iPhone and DJI Action 4, and it is practically impossible to get it to clip!
Oh cool! I really like these comparations videos 🙏
Comparing sound quality during the ad read is brilliant.
In this category DJI mic 2 is still the best choice with build in Memory and the option to use a lav mic
The DJI Mic 2 isn't in this category, though. This category is about regular folks wanting a wireless mic without needing any of the bells and whistles. Thus it's a simpler and cheaper model.
Basically the sound test is splitting hairs. It all comes down to price and personal preference.
Can you attach a wired lavalier to any of these, and if you can, which do you think is the best option? or If none of these, which do you recommend.
The Lark M2 also has 2 levels when using the phone app as well.
DJI nails it once again. I'm surprised their competitors are still operating to be honest.
I always think and the situation I need noise cancelation is in a crowd environment, where everybody talks, but I only want one person's voice..that should be the best condition to test noise cancelation...
I tried and returned the Lark M2 it just wouldn't connect to my PC also their announcement to not support PC software put me off by them.
Does anyone know if the Rode Micro is able to bluetooth connect to the Rodecaster Video?
Damn making your comparison the entire ad is smart.
David! T-shirt brand in this video? Enquiring minds are curious.
M2 is a bit harsher on gain levels vs others. Mic mini sounds the best

I actually got the Lark M2 for $100 on black friday so not a bad deal at all
I saw it for $90 bucks on Amazon.
Does the rode mic connect to the gopro 13?
if it has USB-C
I’m a new UA-camr … just started my channel 2 months ago. So THANK YOU!

Another UA-camr called the Hollyland Lark Windmuff the sea urchin. That's all I can see now 😂
Hahhaa! Perfect description🤣
Can the dji mic connect to an Ace Pro, since it has bluetooth connectivity?
It can, but the sound quality isn't as good as the proprietary connection to the receiver and/or DJI cameras.
Wow, you’re good! 👍
The DJI mic mini would’ve been the ultimate package if it included a dedicated receiver for a smartphone. Their receiver is too bulky and cumbersome for a smartphone.
Correct, and the audio is the worst

@@edittide9842 Yeah it is. The bigger concern is that it’s more likely to get knocked or bumped which could damage the phone or receiver.
Totally agree
@@edittide9842mine actually broke because of the high tension and angle the lightning port is under stress. They also have no replacement parts
I don’t hear enough of a difference in sound quality.
There absolutely is a huge sound difference. Don’t be thrown by this video though - this is heavily pro-DJI
