- Seems like you can never have too many hooks to hang things on. Especially the coats and sweaters that seem to take up residence in all sorts of odd places every winter. Time for a coat rack

You’re the kind of guy I could sit down and have a few beers with. I’m sure you have kids and grandchildren that absolutely adore you sir
It's like saying goodbye to an old friend. But I do understand. I'll keep watching your videos anyway, keep up the good work and God bless you and your family
I don't know how this ended up on the coat rack video, I was commenting on the video when you're saying goodbye to your coal forge. I'm not good with computers anyway.
ron swanson like chraracter... pure skill beats luck
Nice to see I’m not the only one with a few extra jackets laying around
Man, you got a like for that intro alone.
The Francis Whitaker inspired coat rack video is when I first discovered your channel, and I've been a follower ever since.
Sunday morning Blacksmith Bleuse. Black Bear forge worthwhile inspiration that keep on Hammering 😉
Enjoy watching a simple project (at least for you). 🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇸
Just watched your Historical Blacksmith Videos, excellent, I never would have seen them if you hadn't grouped them in a play list. Thanks for the extra work to create the play lists.
Glad you like them!
Beautiful coat hooks. I do like how you narrate the process, and even if you’ve repeated a tip a hundred times in past videos, it does remind us, and keeps it fresh in our memories.
Wear your safety glasses.
I'm liking because of the dry comedy at the beginning. 😂 (Who am I kidding, I would have liked anyway but thanks for the laugh!)
Really nice. That scroll reminds me of a handlebar moustache.
The presence of mind of not overheating/burning of the delicate parts of your work is something I still need to incorporate in my forge work.
Nice piece!
Using the gas forge with the heat turned down low enough it won't burn the material really helps.
I like the bookmarks/chapter headings. For instance I had to walk away about the time you were doing the back plate so it was easy to get back to where I left off. As always the project was inspirational.
Good to know!
That video work course paid off 🙌
Thanks
Sir you don't need to excuse yourself for needing your hooks.
After your inspiring me now I have 4 sets in my home, Yeah you got my bedroom clothes off the floor and I don't live like a caveman with stuff on my floor, Really enjoy your influence. Made my wife a rake of about a dozen of smaller hooks for scarfs and her stuff, She loves ❤ her set on a steel bracket.
Thanks for teaching myself so many skills
Love Sunday hooks……your a man of many coats. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
Your a damn surgeon with that hammer, when I hit stuff it goes all over the place!
Good morning!
Wow at 4:10 and 13:20 you can see how lightly that hammer floats in your grip!
I have to say, as someone whose been watching your videos for a few years now, I'm very impressed with the production quality. I really enjoyed the intro. Got a good laugh out of me haha. Well done again, Switzer.
Wow, thank you!
Those coat hooks are beautiful, and I'm going to make a pair or two from some iron scrap in my smithy. Yours are almost Gothic in design, and would be perfect for our old farmhouse. And likely see my life out and still be hanging coats for my next generation. Thank you so much for this, John. My daughter and I loved it. 🙂
Looks good and works well, John. Take care.
Bill
Top notch work. Very nice video, too. I wondered about the decorative punch work but it kinda steals the show. It looks like a flower and fits beautifully. Thank you for sharing.
Ok that opening got a laugh out of me.
Thanks Mr. S! 🇨🇦❤️
nice 👍 thanks for sharing may God bless you and yours 🙏 stay safe
Think I'll try it this morning. Thanks John.
That was Awesome John..... After all that work. I would hat to see coats on it to cover up all the beautiful work..😂
Hi John! It's PERFECT!
another nice one
Any coat or shirt would be proud to be hung on such a Lovely set of hooks! I’d be proud meself to hang there as well! Kind Thanks! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
Thank you! 😊
Wow, beautiful hook. Live the beggining of video. Decorative stamping was cool. I got a new job better than before but long hours👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks, Hope the new job goes well
Lovely how the two end scrolls give a start & a finish from the bottom to the top of the bar. I was expecting both on the same side, but this adds a lovely charm as does the aligning of all the horizontal slot holes in the screws with the design. So so much better than a stamped sheet utilitarian piece. Thanks for sharing!
That turned out great. Very nice project and video. Thx.
Hello John
Needfull Hooks that is a good Projekt.
Thank you for sharing your skills
Have a good New Week all best wishes
Yours Frank Galetzka
I love that intro haha. Discovered your channel about a week ago and I've been going through your library and I love seeing how much your production value and skill in making videos has increased over time.
Great looking coat rack John, i really like the way it turned out.
Nice video. Thank you, John.
very nice looking result there John. Might have to make myself one of those soon!
Great video John
I don’t have much knowledge in the field of smithing, but this guy seems like an expert in what he’s doing. Love the video !
that came out very nice!
Very nice John, I especially like that you lined all the slots up round head screws, makes a nice finishing touch.
Another excellent video sir.
What lovely work. I don't have a forge of my own, but your videos are still so nice to watch
I'm amazed that you had a space on the wall lol
Awesome coat rack, and I'm loving the new video skills your employing. Great Video!!
Some skilled hammering, having tried this a little myself I appreciate your talent.
First time I ever saw one of those bigornas I figured it was some sort of a gimmicky thing . . . first time I ever used one I figured it was the greatest thing ever! Have never got one, still waiting to wear my Mousehole out first but . . .
I like You’re teaching technique showing people years of experience and how to do it and then letting them figure it out for themselves if they choose to you do very great videos thank you from AL want to be a blacksmith in Vermont
😊👍😆
Awesome looks really good 👍
Just found your channel today and I really like it here :D
I really like the scroll ends on the back plate. Thank you for sharing and all of your work. 👏👏👏
The end product here is really nice John, watching ya get there was inspiring. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great insensitive John thanks for the kick in the ____
Thanks for another great video John.
Great job John, that coat rack is awesome. Thanks for sharing with us. Stay safe and keep having fun. Fred.
Awesome looking hooks there eh! You make it so easy maybe someday I'd like to try it...
Good Morning ,
I enjoy watching you work the metal on the anvil , you move it so expertly . It shows how skilled you are from the many years you have
Worked at Blacksmithing ! You have helped me increase my work on
The anvil making different things !
Thank you for sharing your wonderful Talent ! Take Care and Be Safe
Thank you for your skill and programming. Always inspirational.
Hahaha love the intro
Wow very nice 😊
Great looking Coat Rack. Thanks for the video, you explain everything very well.
cool and nicely done
Another fun project John. And an interesting video as well. Thanks John...
Glad you enjoyed it
Hooks are my favourite projects John , As you have shown there are so many skills involved . The backing plate on this set really set them off. And John I liked the over head shots at the Anvil . Cheers . :)
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the great video keep up the good work!
Thank you for your videos and all you teach. I blacksmith and bladesmith as a hobby. I work in construction and just turned 40. Do you have any tips to keep you healthy and not wear yourself out as you forge?
Mostly just stay active at it. But don't get tempted to swing too heavy a hammer. With your construction background you probably have reasonable hammer control, but poor technique can cause real problems. As I get older I also find that I embrace power equipment more and more. A power hammer or press can really save wear and tear.
Love te look of the hooks! It's also very nice to see the difference and progress in your presenting and cinematographic skills compared to videos of a couple of years ago, it's gotten very professional! I really liked the intro of this upload.
Glad you like them!
Always excellent combination of inspiration and instruction! Thank you for another great video.
Awesome. Just the video I been looking for. Gonna try this next
Love it. These are exactly the kinds of projects I want to see and make.
I've just moved house and have yet to fit out my new forge, but a new coat-hook will be top of my 'to-do' list.
However, I don't have the same coats as you do; will this matter? 😉
Another great tutorial. 😁
These are some really cool hooks! 🙂
The simple and great design matches perfectly with any kind of furnishing or wall.
Thank you for the videos John! Take care and have a nice evening. 🙂
Glad you like it!
Great job .nice design
Nice John, very well done!
I love this!
That looks so good! And yeah I'm well overdue for following your guide for preparing some screws/bolts so they match the pieces. As always, incredible work!
Love it.
Really nice video this week John. Very nice John I really like how this project turned out this week. I really like this design idea. Hopefully you get great use out of it my friend for many years to come. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work John. Forge on. Keep making. God bless.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@BlackBearForge your very welcome. Forge on. God bless.
Nice design and great craftsmanship. I would like to ask what are your top three most used hardy tools
Guillotine tool, Cutoff hardy and then it gets pretty varied without a clear number 3
@@BlackBearForge Thank you John, just trying to plan some items to make first. Love your channel.
I miss hook of the week, I know you can only make so many hooks, and all good things need to come to to an end. I guess I was just hooked to it 😝 sorry.
“Ron Swanson” from parks and rec tv show was based off of you im sure of it!
Мастер!!!! Спасибо вам!!!!
What are you using to assemble the hooks to the backplate? Great work!
Very nice work John. Your forge is not lit; I suppose you are using induction heater ?
No, I'm working in the gas forge. It puts more heat in the shop during the winter
Too bad you tube does not have 3D. The overhead shot would be great.
guess you need the swage block. I tried mine without it and it looks alot more like a really tight scroll than a ball. not bad but not really a good ball either.
The swage block helps but it can be done at the anvil, just takes more practice. You can also make a simple single purpose swage for use at the anvil.
I’m sure you’ve demonstrated it before, but how would you do that isolation on the end without a smithing magician?
Very careful blows at the edge of the anvil with thew hammer and anvil edges lining up.
@@BlackBearForge thank you!
How would you forge a hog splitter
What’s the name of those tongs you were using to hold the punch on the treadle hammer?
Those are Tooling tongs sold by Blacksmith Supply
What kind of metal are you using? I heard sizes but no mention of the type of iron.
Unless specified otherwise it just plain old mild steel.
@@BlackBearForge Thank you
What size hammer are you using
Its about 3 pounds
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hello
Can you use a small hammer
Up to a point. Trying to use a hammer heavier than you're comfortable with can cause injury. But if you're limited to a very light hammer you will want to work on smaller projects.
Nice work and then it spends most of the time buried under coats. 😜
Very true!
Really Great Work. You should use the power hammer as much as possible. Save your shoulder elbow and wrist. Tenis elbow and carpal tunnel really sucks. That's a lot of stress on your joints.
I agree 😉
While I am not too thrilled about music in videos related to blacksmithing, I think you should have intro music, but not that intro music. I'd love your banjo be the intro.
