'Mon Jodi Tui / Going Beyond Gender': Parvathy Baul
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 сер 2015
- “We say in the Baul tradition that the male ego is much more fragile than the female. So we say, become strong, as strong as a woman. ... In a way, men are very afraid of women. Because women are very giving. They are ready to offer themselves. Because of this capacity of compassion and love, the motherly aspect, that already exists in women. It's a very special quality. Men have to seek it out in themselves.” - Parvathy Baul

In this remarkable song and reflection on gender, Parvathy speaks and sings about the power of giving, of surrender, of the egoless state, and how it is ultimately more powerful and more spiritually rewarding than the walls created by the personality or ego.

If there is an embodiment of intensity, Parvathy is it. As our friend, as an advisor, as a fiery challenger, she has brought us into deeper touch with ourselves. This recording was made as part of our week-long immersion with Parvathy at her home and akhada on the outskirts of Trivandrum in September 2011. She warmly welcomed us, housed us, fed us, sang for us and spoke to us with great depth and insight about the Baul path and about life itself. An experience that we still carry with us.
Parvathy Baul is a Baul singer and saadhika, painter and storyteller from Bengal and has been a disciple of Shashanko Goshai and Sanatan Das Baul. She divides her time between her home in Trivandrum, Kerala and the Baul ashram she has built near Shantiniketan in Bengal. (parvathybaul.com/)

So much knowledge 🙆♀️🙆♀️🙆♀️
The way she narrated it is awesome! First of all, there is no Gender, it's a social construction. But, if we stick with the concepts of 'femininity' and 'masculinity', then we all share both aspects. My comment comes from reading/studying different philosophers, and different academic theories. But, I feel so small in front of her; her understanding comes from the knowledge she gathered from her life, surroundings, and her gurus. The academia doesn't acknowledge their knowledge, but it should!
There is a gender which is a natural thing of this world, biological fact, covering two out of three pillars of balance. Soul has no gender because is balanced. Man has a gender because is unbalanced. This is very simple. Like different kind of clothing for male and female. The question is whether you are your clothing or the being that clothing hides. "Social construct" is a magical formula from hideous NWO rhetoric to distort healthy concepts and transform them into useless clichés.

Your comment did not make any sense!

So read it first :/
gender is a social construct. sex on the other hand is just the biological difference. therefore we talk oif stupid things like "gender roles" in society - no one has "sex roles" in society - which is precisely why we are all a mix of the masculine and feminine and that's beautiful. and i think the baul philosophy only tries to reunite people to this very basic truth.
and to add one more thing - the sex-less embryo is considered by many to be female (which is not quite co rrect as it is not at the point of completion of its developmewnt but it does "look" more female) and only in time, develops further to be male (or femake). the male organ develops outwards while the feminine develops inwards - literally two faces of the same coin. nature is beautiful and a remarkable system.
what an innocent face and voice!!
Sooooo much knowledge.😍😍😍
i think she has consciously skipped the inner esoteric aspect of the song, which are related to aspects of kayasadhana or seeking using and through the body, and narrated only the outer meaning which in itself is beautiful anyway. I think she was right and discrete in doing so.
Spiritually uplifting. Truely mesmerizing. We do need to find the other gender within our own selves
U r very spiritual women...you deserve both male nd feminine in true sence....of kundalini sakti...it is almighty god who create a cosmic energy...about know bowl sampradaya feel too good..such a true is devotee to divine...universe create a humanbody purpose to free soul.. be a.pure soul......🙏🙏❤️❤️ Parboti soul sister divine bless you more nd more...

SO MUCH LOVE..
মন যদি তুই বিন্দাবনে যাবি।
I am in love with the performance and the narration of Parvathy...
Personally I have an idea that male are the half woman as they have "XY" chromosomes .....
Presence of " Y" and its performance at its Space-Time (Environment... PRAKRITI) is somewhat dummy, and it always come from father side.
Whereas the "XX" the female chromosomes (one from father side and another from mother side) is double in action at genetic level ...
While Parvathy discussed her observation in detail, I could not resist myself to put my thoughts. (...which I acquired from my skill training and after so many years of practice of Clinical Psychology)
Sir fyi one of the X chromosomes are always inactivated in females. I get the hang of what you are trying to say but your logic is flawed.
The song starts at 4:08

urdhwareta also has meanings pertianing to sexual rites .. but i guess it best not to speak them in such a public place . loved the video
What does it mean? Would you please explain? I'd love to know. If you could point out to references that would be fine too. I can read it up then.
Aditi munshir boubhat
This song is about sexual union though, albeit the alternate translation is beautiful.
দিদি তোমার আশ্রম কোথায় বলবে আমরা দেখতে যাবো ।
what an innocent adorable lady.
she is an awesome singer of baul songs but her explanation for this song is not totally correct .If anybody knows about baul songs and aware of the kind of thought " baul gurus " try to convey by their songs can clearly understand that here poet is talking about Physiology here she totally skipped that part and explained it in other way . It may be she didn't want to talk about the actual meaning or couldn't explained it properly . It would have been better if she was interviewed in bengali .
What is the exact meaning according to you?....Can you explain me??...I would be so great ful......
She is way to intelligent to not know the meaning! This was intentional.
দিদি আমি তোমার ভালবাসি।
