Spectra & MirroSky at NEAF 2024

Mirrorsky had and interesting product there that caught my eye. It's a camera that controls the scope through an app on your phone. It works a lot like the DUO Air that ZWO showed this year. With two companies simultaneously coming out with something like this I think we can say this will be a trend tat more companies may fallow.

I have a couple of their refractors, an AstroLite 60, and AstroLite 70 short tube. I really like both, the 60mm because of it’s 500mm focal length. Easy to handle and still enough magnification available for planetary and lunar observations. The 400mm 70 is great for general sky sweeps, especially under dark skies. Both are under two pounds for the OTA and do not overtax a lightweight AZ mount. Both focusing units are plastic but both mine are wobble and lash free, solid and smooth focusing. Especially appreciated are the included RACI diagonals, whereas many brands are now shipping with those neck straining 45 degree diagonals.
Overall, they still represent a good bang for the buck, even though the prices have increased lately.
I have a much fancier AT70ED and honestly, in many instances there just ain’t much difference with the presented visual at 16x to 50x between the two.

Very cool! I can see that camera being useful for visual if you want to be able to easily jump between objects.

Great coverage! Glad to see others are putting computers in the cameras, it's a great concept I just hope they make them more modular/upgradable or provide the ability to use the camera still if the computer gets bricked.

It's a good idea as a stand alone product but it's a bad idea in terms of serious setups. Why do you want twice the risk of it breaking plus the issue that the computer will become obsolete before the camera?

Is it actually MirroSky (not MirrorSky)? That would be the company with that Kickstarter campaign from 2022 that is still not fully shipped. The mounts that were shown in the video are nowhere to be found on their website. Spectrum optical systems has some basic manual Alt-AZ telescopes on their site, but nothing that looks like some advanced products from their booth.

I don't like the concept of computers in the cameras. Bad for cooling. I would rather see two guide sensors around the main sensor to keep guiding even after the meridian fli. I hate switching from oag to guidescope at 2000mm focal length just because the only available guide star is not available after the flip. Or double oag supported by the software
