Study skills. Review everything early and often. Early is on time. On time is late. People skills. Dale Carnegie type style. Participate in organized dentistry like ADA, AGD, NDA, all of it. You'll learn a different level of skill and subjects in these meetings.
SOOOO GLAD I FOUND YALL !! Being so stressed about finding out info about dental school! And so dope to see my fellow brothers breaking into this field!
I’m so happy I found y’all channel! I’m getting ready to take my DAT and apply to schools. Imposter syndrome has been causing me to shy away from applying. I am ready to get it done now though. I’m so grateful for the advice that is shared by the two of you. I wish you both the best!
Ive been a dental assistant for 12 years, have seen anything everything. Im starting my predental Journey and im a bit insecure AF, Im not the most academically gifted person, but will work my ass off to achieve it!
Hard work is most of the battle! Create the gameplan and it'll all come through for you when you put the work in. Best of luck, let us know if you need anything.
What I remember that I didn't think about prior to dental school( Louisville 83). 1. Touching people- going to the dentist did not prepare me for actual touching and violating personal space. We do it without thinking, but initially it was a big deal. 2. How wet the mouth is- D1, and part of D2 everything is denoforms, you can cut, turn and see. Also how some people have cheeks that hide everything you are trying to see and do. 4. How bad some peoples mouth is dentally. Some people just don't brush their teeth. Keep working I still love what I do.
We applied to a couple of different schools. Here's a combined list: Tufts Midwestern in Arizon USC UCLA Howard Meharry Nova Louisville Detroit Mercy BU Maryland NYU Columbia VCU Marquette

Should I become a dentist at age 50 when I would graduate or become a dental hygienist at age 45 ? I'm concerned about cost of dental school....
We always say.... if you really want to become a dentist , don’t let anyone or anything stop you!
A few things to consider:
-Cost of school
-Age discrimination
