If u use quality potentiometers and trimmers and use like 150 -200 -250 ohm pots the variable will not arch at all and not will be solid ...I use 200 ohm variables on mine and there smooth as butter .... It's all about using the best parts. An use big heavy metal film resistors at the variable... 3 and 5 watt pads
