this is gonna be the longest comment i've ever written, isn't it? pepperman - forlorn not gonna lie i was expecting one of the enemy approaching tracks here so hearing the first chord of forlorn was a jumpscare lmfao. not sure how to exactly explain my thought process with this one though. it fits the "this is the first boss so we're not gonna go too crazy with the music" vibe, and i guess some of the composition swivels around to fit pepperman's pretentious, egotistical personality (as opposed to dalv) it doesn't fit perfectly but it works!!! i'll give it like a uhhh 7.5/10?? the vigilante - showdown! hmmm, a battle against a yellow non-human cowboy who wields a silver revolver. definitely some correlation right off the bat! if starlo had a proper genocide route battle theme, that would probably fit better (like if "the trek" was more upbeat) but showdown still works REALLY well. 9/10 the noise - apprehension absolutely should not work as well as it does. how does it work so well?!?! i dont fucking know!!!!! 10/10 regardless though the noise and martlet (in the genocide route) both have a sort of "game's secondary mascot tussling with the player character" thing going on so that could be one of the big factors, but i dont want to spend an entire paragraph picking out similarities between a shameless noid parody character and a bird anthro whose entire character i'm pretty sure is a pun on the word "birdbrain" so i better stop here lol ALSO BIRDS OF A FEATHER OVER NOISETTE INTERRUPTING THE BATTLE IS SO FUCKING PERFECT I'M GIGGLING LIKE AN IDIOT OVER THIS faker - BEST FRIENDS FOREVER getting into a fistfight with The Horrors(TM)? when in doubt have BEST FRIENDS FOREVER as a backing track! an easy pick, but it definitely fits. sort of an opposite case with vigilante though, because faker (to me at least) feels like a sort of balance between down-right creepy and "creepy but in a silly way" and BEST FRIENDS FOREVER is JUST down-right creepy, but even then it still fits like a glove (also it goes hard). 9.5/10 as for the chase, i was expecting AFTERLIFE or specimen: paper, but specimen: mechanical still ain't half bad!! (best specimen track btw. fight me) final boss: this one's a doozy, so i'm gonna try to keep these pretty short phase 1: pizzaface - some point of no return i feel like some point of no return could fit any relatively-chill-but-still-hype first phase of any final boss. 9/10 phase 2: pizzahead - AFTERLIFE was expecting specimen: clay, but that one's pretty short and AFTERLIFE still works pretty damn well so i'll give it that! 7/10 phase 3a: peppino's fuckin pissed!!!! - a mother's love (first two thirds) sometimes i think about the idea of a "ceroba over peppino" mod, so this is definitely a treat, but i don't know that it quite fits the sheer bloodthirsty blind rage peppino is feeling in that moment. unexpectancy 3 has the vibes of (and i cannot phrase this in any way that isn't just a near direct quote from stash club's lyrical cover because god dammit it hits so hard in the feels) "YOU SENT ME THROUGH HELL AND IF YOU HURT ME I'LL SEND YOU THERE AS WELL!!!" and because of that i say this is a huge missed opportunity to use remedy. still 7/10 because a mother's love still has the final boss hype AND it goes hard phase 3b: pizzahead rematch - a mother's love (last third) not gonna lie (wow we've come full circle), a mother's love definitely fits better here than phase 3a and the "KEEP YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME LOSER THIS IS THE FUCKIN FINALE!!!!!" vibes are definitely there!!!! still feels like a missed opportunity to use retribution though. this is truly an undertale yellow flawed pacifist route 7/10 thanks for listening to me yap im gonna go to bed now bc its 2 am
Retribution actually would work as the replacement of noise's unexpectancy because their structure's is ridiculously a same, i even did mashup of these two themes in rave dj and as the result, these two themes is blend, mashed and fitted to eachother so perfectly, which is the reason why retribution would work only for playable noise at the final boss rather than to peppino because how apprehension worked for noise as the boss so is retribution will work for noise as the playable character (and yes i know what this video out way earlier than noise update but still)and so with remedy which is would work as the noise's lap 2 replacement (even if it's not boss theme)
