In this video, I'll show you how I beat every Pokemon champion as Drake from the Orange Island with there Pokemon. It may not be the most efficient or strategic way to beat the champions, but it worked for me!

Rules:
1: Only use Drake Pokemon In battle.
2: No items in battle or Held items allowed.
3: Cant Be Higher Level Than Champion Ace
4: Not really a Rule But I play on Set battle mode.
Disclaimer : I sometimes modify a Pokémon that I already have obtained in my save file to give me a better move set , changing pound to flamethrower for example.

Drakes a pretty unique guy , practically undefeated except to ash! Another Hardcore Nuzlocke is on the way! Also i showed blues yellow team rather than FRLG my bad

Uhmmm… idk where everybody got that idea that only ash had beaten the guy. But if I remember correctly at the end when Ash beats him they ask to take a picture of ash and his team
For on the wall… that wall has pictures of other trainers and their teams who won
The modifying the move sets was a great idea because canonically it would make sense because Drake would keeping training his pokemon and they would learn new unique moves while drake travels the lands
Honestly wish drake and the rest of the orange island trainers were added to the mainline games retroactively
Completely agree , would of been a cool tournament to participate in.
It would have been cool to see more of them in the show as well.
How are none of them master level trainers???
It would totally work as a little postgame activity since it's just four Gym Leaders and a Champions.
Come to think of it, it sounds similar to the Blueberry League.

Wow this was amazing! Also I love the idea of ryhorn being a substitute for onix in the scarlet and violet games, and ditto being less of a jobber starting in gen 5 was interesting, onix getting the least about of spot light was sad, but the other four Pokémon on drakes team were pretty decent throughout this entire run. 😁👏
Onix is such a frail Pokémon i did manage to get a few knockouts with him, but yeah drakes other Pokémon sure do shiny in a team with ditto and onix 😅
I wish you could battle drake in the games. Another great video as always. Serious note though without Ash’s team coverage, no way he was beating that dragonite!
That would of been cool , if you could of visited the orange islands , maybe in the next gen1 remake 😁 yeah kieran was a absolute pain!
I think there’s rom hacks with him . I think ash gray is going to orange islands . I feel like there were orange island specific rom hacks too

Honestly it was awful , It was alot of attempts , most of them were not too far in as I could barely make it past his third Pokémon so at least I have that haha!

This was an awesome run and I really hope the viewers like it as much as I did. I love this suggestion because while Drake has a strong team there are some wild cards left and right that make a lot of champions in your rule set either extremely challenging like Cynthia or kinda difficult until they were a complete pushover like Leon. Back in the times when I played competetively, I even used his team several times. Really like it. Even Onyx wasn't completely terrible with Eviolite. Was at least a relatively fast Stealth Rock lead.

Elite four promotion!
Taking a gym leaders team (being post game or full game) team and taking on the elite four to see if they have what it takes to be a member!
This idea comes out of the fact that flint and vaulkner were close buddy’s and I’d love to see what would happen if they were to battle.
I also think it would be a really good concept and challenge seeing as certain gym leaders have really bad match ups for elite four members.
I know you have the elite four series but I think adding the twist of trying to see if a gym leader can get promoted is pretty cool
Hey thanks for the comment, While i did try this in can they beat every elite four , this is a really unique twist and something I'm actually going to look into. I think its a cool concept , taking brock to kanto's e4 etc, but would you stop after the elite four? or continue to the champion? Would you do every elite four? or just the regions.
@@Pokehound1 I think it would be a long video if you went through all elite 4 and champion. I believe competing as the gym in there respective Elite 4 and champion match is enough.
If we are throwing ideas out there I think going for cannon characters vs bosses in games would be great as well with things like “can red defeat all evil organisations in Pokémon” probably a bad title but I’m sure that could be work shopped too haha.

I think Drake would have a fully evolved team so you could have tried Electivire, Steelix and Rhyperior for greater damage output.
I also think he would have changed move sets to be more effective with the times so I’m glad you did that.

I agree! I'm contemplating doing a remake eventually using there " true power" teams idea from silphspectre. And seeing how we fare compared to the original runs

If you look at drakes team fully evolved, it's scary.
Oooft yeah, steelix electivire raichu, and potential mega evolution too!
Hopefully there is a redo with a fully evolved team.
I wouldve recommend evolving Electabuzz, and Onix(Maybe utilizing the Megas, and unique gigantamax forms)
While its awesome you stuck to his team, i feel Drake would be someone to keep training and evolve his pokemon

The added red battle is always a fun treat! wish there was a sprite mod to mod the sprite of your trainer to the person you are challenging him as!
This is something I'm potentially looking at , I've seen rom hocks use custom sprites, the only issue is it would mainly be aimed at older games as the newer games I don't think it's possible 😔

Interesting team what can I say. Seriously though half of the team Dragonite Gengar and Venusaur are good mons but the other half of the team is kinda questionable. And lets not talk about Electabuzz moveset. That guy gets walled by any ground type pokemon. Even a tiny Cubone just straight up walls it and could potentially KO with something like Boomerang or Dig. Drake could have at least though Electabuzz something like Ice Punch so it doesnt just become dead weight against ground types. Same thing with Venusaur. Anything that resists Grass type attacks is going to be a problem. As you have seen in Alder fight that Excavalier which is X4 times RESISTANT to Grass type attacks barely felt that stab Solarbeam. It tickled it lol. So yeah other than this questionable movesets and some of the team members the team isnt that bad. With some improvements it would be even better. Anyway great video as always.
Yeah you can really tell that he struggles with the gen1 move sets , honestly just a tiny bit better coverage on venusaur and electabuzz and his team is miles better all though its still really strong. He did have a rhyhorn apparently , so a rhydon would of been a much better Pokémon I think than onix or even giving him a golem , but I imagine they didn't want him to overlap , Thanks for watching!
@@Pokehound1 Tbh I would have preferred Rhydon/Golem over Onix as they are better mons plus they are evolved as well. Would have helped the team. Also to avoid overlap I would just choose either rhydon or golem and use that mon. Maybe switch one for the other for different fights would be a good idea as well.
Yeah I would of loved to evolve them , but Then Im not staying true to his team so to speak. Its for sure feedback I'm open too! If the vast majority would like me to use sort of a "true power" team!@@ugsubslover6243

Yeah would have helped the team. Plus with steelix and electivire this team is way better. However the moveset issues still remain on certain mons.
I'd of loved to use a steelix and electavire would of made some battles a bit more easier 😅

Drake team is pretty- ehh- they really don’t mix well with one another
Do you think so? apart from onix and ditto , It does seem pretty balanced ish , venasaur gengar and dragonite are insanely good pokemon. Movesets are questionable though
@@Pokehound1they really struggled against each champion it is true Vensaur is a great mon but it to slow Gengar is fast but a glass cannon the team really relays on Dragonit more than it really should and has a major weakness to psychic and fire and water types
