Lulu is such an intelligent woman who has such depth in her outlook. I love her singing voice and so much of the songs she sings now. She is a national treasure and the British need to forget her 60s work and listen to her current music. She is really the Queen of the Mods now that Dusty and Cilla are gone. Lulu always had an incredible range so hear her now and forget the sixties.
Was lucky to see Lulu several years ago at the TCM festival in L.A. giving a great interview before "To Sir, With Love," then singing the title song to the rapt audience. It was very moving and she did a fantastic job- love Lulu!
She looks fabulous Incredible how she always looks so good young and very beautifully looks . AND not a bad word said against her .A FINE MUSICAL TALANT TO OUR NATION of music lovers in the uk.TREASURE WHAT advice would she give to other young talant .
I'm glad there is no interview of me at that age I'd be mortified. She looks amazing now and still has the same voice Olivia Newton John can't hit the high notes anymore but Lulu still has that great raspy voice and can still sing her old tunes. love her then and now.
Thanks for your comment. I believe that Debby Boone's "You Light Up My Life" was the best selling single of 1977 in the United States. In Britain, the single reached only #48 in the charts. Interestingly, the b-side, "Hasta Manana", is an Abba song.
Lulu today with her blond hair makes her looks like she could be Olivia Newton John's cousin. Her reaction to what she wore in 1967 is priceless. Considering that she was copying what other singer Nancy Sinatra was wearing (short dress with long leather boots). Isn't it amazing that her song "To Sir With Love" was the number one song in America for 1967? Even more so, she and Kim Carnes ("Bette Davis Eyes") are the only female singers to have the #1 song for the year during the top 40 era.
Lulu was, and still is, the best female singer and entertainer to come from Scotland. Some of the comments below don't take into account that people actually grow up. Their life changes and they follow a different path. Lulu has successfully achieved more than any of her detractors could possibly hope to achieve.
I think that Lulu looks even better now, it's amazing that she is 60 years old and a pensioner! Her music has matured enormously, check out I'm A Tiger and Boom-Bang-A-Bang from 1968/9.
Thanks for your comment. To Sir With Love was not issued as a single in Britain in its own right, instead it was issued on the b-side of the mediocre single "Let's Pretend" which peaked at #11 in 1967.
You're right, Lulu looks spectacular! Regarding Downtown, at 4:25 Lulu remarks that she often felt on her own, and, appropriately, the opening line of Downtown is "when you're alone and life is making you lonely".
@@MeTube3 Marian Massey was her handler. She sent her for elocution lessons. All this about being working class yes she was born that way but sent her son to Eton. Acting since the age of fourteen. 🤔

I think Lulu... was sweet and adorable in the 67 interview. She seemed far more down to earth, also. I think the 70s and beyond, were a downfall for her. Lulu certainly was searching hard, to bolster the career she had in the 60s. Gotta hand it to her tho, she's still out there doing it!
"I'm A Tiny Girl"! Appropriate, certainly! There's a video of Lulu singing Love Loves To Love Love, recorded in 1967 on Top Of The Pops, check out the hair! My favourite Lulu look (and song) is The Man Who Sold The World, from 1974.
This is the entire interview with Lulu. When I titled the upload "Lulu interviews", I was referring to the two interviews 42 years apart, perhaps the title is ambiguous. I'm very pleased that you enjoy the video!
Lulu wore a suit and tie on Top Of The Pops when she released her version of the David Bowie song "The Man Who Sold The World" in 1974. This androgenous look was in stark contrast to her more fluffy look in the sixties!
Lulu is so devastatingly attractive at 60 that it's...almost disturbing--but the really important thing is exceptional talent, which she had as a teen & still evidences 4 decades later. Interestingly, her wiki entry, tho comprehensive, leaves out 2 excellent PBS perf.'s: on My Music: The 60's, & in Mike Figgis's British Blues doc(segment of The Blues series), both of which show that her talent only deepened over the years, if anything...
Sadly, many editions of Lulu's television show (along with those made by Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield and Sandie Shaw) were wiped by the BBC in the seventies. Hundreds of editions of Top Of The Pops were wiped also.
Sorry, I misunderstood your question. Lulu's performance was broadcast on "Eurovision - Your Country Needs You" which I watched live and didn't record.
Graham, thanks for pointing that out: I forgot that Debbie Boone's song was number one for 1977. Also I think that was a big no-no for Lulu to wear a dress with boots (she should of wear high heeled shoes). It would of had been amusing if Lulu had worn a men's suit with tie (considering that Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton, and other singer Marianne Faithful had done that during the 1960's)!
ok, WHY do they play "Downtown" In the mist of this tv show interview and never say boo about petula clark. Hopefully they know their Lulu's from their Petula's
Maurice Gibb ( her first husband) and The Bee Gees too uncool to get a mention here? Or is there some bad blood with the Gibb family? Weird. I’m suspicious.
She always says they shouldn't have got married, like the Davy Jones thing the publicity did her career no harm! Lucky for Maurice he met someone genuine second time around.

Thanks for your comment. Last Saturday (31 January) Lulu sang live on BBC television in a Eurovision programme, she was great!
Lulu... had it right in 67. Sad to see her cackle at herself, years later.
+mrsteve hartman most definitely
Agreed. Strange she says trying to be middle class but I'm not, yet she sent her son to Eton. Can't get more upper class than that!
I agree with your opinion and thanks for your further information.
She is really something special.
She looks better now than she did back then, wtf??!

"Let's Pretend" was my favourite I had it on 45 rpm.
Yes Raymond, Lulu looks fabulous in that video. Amazing that she is now entitled to a free bus pass!

@yukseleyy Thanks for your kind words, Jimmy. Much appreciated!
where`s her scottish accent? she`s 19 and has this plummy english accent here, strange.
Marian Massey sent her for elocution lessons.
1960s, people used to try and lose their regional accents. I’d rather hear the natural Dennistoun, but she lost it.

I love Lulu
Lulu and Cilla. My two favourite female singers of the 60'sNOT!!!!!!
Try Dusty and Pet Clark for starters.
The whole interview was recorded and broadcast by Channel Five. I recorded it onto my Sky recorder, then I uploaded it to UA-cam.

You're right, Lulu and ONJ have a very similar look. Both are now 60 and, officially, pensioners!
They don't look at all alike and have totally different voices.
Lulu still looks great. The 2009 Lulu looks the spitting image of the 2009 Olivia Newton - John. They could be sisters! What do you think?
Sorry, I misunderstood your question. Lulu's performance was broadcast on "Eurovision - Your Country Needs You" which I watched live and didn't record.
I want a NEW cd by Lulu!

The older Lulu, could certainly take a lesson from the younger Lulu. Stick with what works. Remember... " Something Better Than This "...
No, I meant do you have the Relight My Fire/Eurovision performance.
whats with accent? scottish aye right
No Glaswegian accent? What happened?
Elocution lessons.
Did you tape that performance? Love to hear it if you did, thanks.

Great performer, great career, but the fake English accent grates on most of us Scots.

this era was the start of the "modern western women" and look how good that all turned out... yay feminism
