- The Shoops have landed! Yakkelberry and Jessi join Trän and I for a Memorial Day run on the Haw River. The level was perfect. Jessi tries out her new Tsunami 145 and loves it. This was her first run on any river with notable current. Join us as we kayak on the Haw River! We travel section 6 from Glencoe to Country Park as well as section 7 from Country Park to Red Slide.
Level on the gauge was 2.75'....link below

Nice job Pete
Thanks Randy!
Great trip !
Great video it was good to meat you on the new River hope to meet yackberry some day keep the videos coming
Danny Minton thanks! It was a pleasure meeting you too!
I am jealous of your take outs. Here in SE Texas, Harvey carved a new course in a lot of the rivers here and the take outs are straight uphill. Steep hill take outs! Can't wait to run a river with an easy takeout!
cathlyn205 yes, it does make a big difference! Thanks for watching!
Can't learn without a little constructive criticism, doesn't hurt anyone. Another nicely put together video Pete.
Thanks Tim!
Nice work
tvdirector38 thanks!
Love Haw River
Awesome short run. Looked like you all had a great time! I almost bought the same boat he did. I'm with Yakkelberry, I thought it was more purple. Now I'm glad I got the orange!! Once again, another great video!
Nicholas's Toy Review haha exactly! No way i could have taken a boat with pink on trips and NOT be made fun of the whole time! Haha its all good though, mango colored one comes home tonight! Take it easy brother
Great video
good video my friend I was smiling the whole time, wish I could get my wife to do this I would buy her any boat she wanted... enjoyed
Love the names. My BFF Sally named ours. Mine is Ky and hers is Yak.
cathlyn205 nice!
It was a great first run for Jessi. She was able to experience several things for the first time. She enjoyed it and is ready to go again. She especially enjoyed chatting with Tran while we were setting the shuttle

Royal Krizberger thank you sir! You can always buy used as well.
Hey Pete, I am looking at the Tsunami 14.5 and the Dagger Stratos 14.5. The new Tsunami uses the high back rest and a optional rudder, The Stratos uses a back band and a skeg. What do you prefer, Rudder or Skeg?.. Also, Does the high back rest limit mobility? Plus, I was thinking it would be more comfortable for longer excursions? I've only used back bands from my whitewater kayaks. Keep up the great work! Love the River Kings! Thanks.
Hey man! thanks!
I am definitely in favor of the rudder. The backhand style is far less comfortable for the longer trips. The high back rest will unavoidably have some limitation on overall movement. I have never used the stratos, but have a lot of experience in and around the Tsunami. The Stratos has a lot more rocker than the Tsunami which well lend itself to higher maneuverability on the water. The Stratos is also a bit more geared to performance whereas the Tsunami tends to edge towards comfort. I guess the age old answer is "it depends on what you want to do with it". If you are planning on pushing the limits of that type of boat, I would trend towards the Stratos. If you are thinking longer trips with less craziness and comfort in mind, I would go with the Tsunami.
"Your wife did it better than you!" Classic!
he he!
I was working like a dog I would have been the 1st one to reply. Lol
