Which are the TOP 3 asterisk years?
2016,2019,2007
2019, 2019, 2019.
Sincerely, a Warriors fan. 😅😂
2016 2019 2021
After hearing it: The Kobe and Shaq Lakers years because they were full of controversy and rigging. 😳
2019, 2020, 2021. All 3 years where health was a huge factor for the playoffs
For the 2007 Finals, the asterisk should have been game 4 of the Western Conference Semis, vs. the Suns which Robert Horry had a dirty hit on Nash where Stoudemire and Diaw were suspended from game 5 for leaving the bench to defend their teammate from the dirty hit, causing them to lose game 5, and all momentum, pushing the Spurs to win in 6.
Just came here to say that. That hip check and the players leaving the bench still upsets me to this day. The other thing is that the Cavs had no business getting past Pistons that season. Guess he forgot mention the aliens coming down and zapping the talent from their starting five in the 4th and OT. Sweeping the under talented Cavs would have been easy work for whoever came out of the west.
@@thatcomicguychris4877 Except that sweeping the cavs wasn't an easy task. Each of those games were close despite Lebron's tumultuous performance that series. If Lebron's performance in 2011 was a 4 out of 10, his 2007 finals performance was a -3 out of 10. Yeah you read that right, a negative 3.

1998's asterisk should be Game 6. Not because of the "push-off" which wasn't a push off as Russell's momentum carried him there and got crossed over but because of 2 missed calls in that game that should've given Utah a 5 point lead. Secret Base made a Rewinder video about it.

For 2017, Zaza injured Kawhi in game 1 in the western conference finals when GS played the spurs. The spurs were up 21 in the that game with Leonard, but after his injury, the warriors came back to win it 113-111. After that, the series wasn’t even close.

You cannot put asterisk on a ring just because a star player got sick or injured in the roster, unless it was done intentionally. Sports is about body strength and endurance. It's part of the game.
Luck is also part of the game so when you win, just note that you because of luck.
Not because you’re better
That’s the point of the video.
Not all of it is very legitimate, it’s more just a challenge and an interesting thought experiment
It’s a shame more people don’t understand this and will make excuses for their teams because of injuries. If this person was healthy or that person was healthy a certain woulda lost. It’s apart of the game. Sheesh
@@iamtheonlywilly
Right no, when you’re legit just looking at the validity of a ring and Season run of a team, you have to understand that injuries are part of the game. It really just boils down to a What If, outside of ofc the specific occasions where a player purposefully injuries another player, and it matters what ruling the League comes down with. Those aren’t a What If, but they also are seperate exceptions that don’t have to do with normal injuries
I've always thought a Gentleman's Sweep is going up 3-0 and letting the other team get 1 win before closing out the series. Even moreso if that 1 win by the series losing team is on their own homecourt.
i’ve seen it used that way too, but i’ve also seen it be used more recently to just generally mean a 4-1 series.
I thought it was when 1 team goes up 1-0 and then the other team goes on to win the next 4 thats a gentleman sweep
it generally means 4-1 nowadays doesn't really matter how it got there
A Gentleman Sweep is just Letting the other team getting 1 win doesn’t matter when it is
I hadn't heard that term before, nor had Wikipedia.
2007 has to be the dirty hit in Steve Nash which ended up getting the suns players suspended for leaving the bench
The 1995 asterisk is kind of stupid, before he retired Jordan was averaging 35 PPG in the regular season and it dipped to 27 PPG when he came back. But by playoff time he was back up to scoring 32 PPG compared to 35 PPG before he retired ad the efficiency was practically the same so the only real difference was that he was attempting 2 less shots per game. In all, Jordan was not at 100% in the playoffs, but he was about 95%.
1993 and 2004 shouldn't have an asterisk at all
Yup Jordan always bounces back, just look at '86 after he broke his foot, he gave the Celtics the toughest series they had in their run after coming back and only playing a few games. '95 needs a new asterisk and Hakeem/Shaq/Penny needs more credit.

@@janritz-kun2617I don’t think it’s a controversy at this point. It’s a fact.
@@theonlygoodonehere2259 outplayed? Ok, can you explain on how did the lakers lose vs warriors when freethrows are balanced?
I don't think the Lakers' 2020 path was the easiest path in history. LOL. Guys were calling it done after losing game 1 to the "Best 8th seed in history" according to former players like chuck. And then after losing game 1 to the "Best backcourt tandem that year" a lot of guys were also calling it quits. When the clippers choked, Nuggets would blow past the "Fakers" according to the same guys. And then when they faced Miami, suddenly the narrative changed to the "easiest championship in history". I guess the biggest asterisk you can put to this ring was the layoff were too long and benefitted older and injury prone players to recover before the playoffs.
You are right. It is the third easiest.
2016 The asterisk wasn't Draymond Green's unprecedented retroactive suspension for a foul from a previous game that WAS NEVER CALLED IN THAT GAME?
I just watched the thing to check.
Draymond was getting his around LeBron, and then LeBron shoved it off. Draymond hit LeBron in the nuts. That makes sense being called a Flagrant.
Secondly, Draymond only got suspended because of the build up of fouls, all of which were valid Flagrant calls (throwing around a Rockets player, and then kicking Aquaman in the nuts). Even if it was just called a Flagrant in the Finals, it wouldn’t have been a suspension if the other prior Flagrants didn’t occur.
Thirdly, Draymond still played in Game 6 and Game 7, where he even basically dropped a 32 point and 15 rebound Triple Double, so let’s not pretend as if the single game suspension really was so drastic
@Jonathan-A.C. draymond did not make contact with lebron let's be honest here. And a single game suspension in a 7 game series is huge lmao what are you talking about. Who knows how that game goes with draymond playing.

Im so glad you said 2016 was Bogut and Curry hurt. People always say Draymond suspension, but that was just 1 game. When Bogut got hurt, they lost every game after that.
Bogut was hurt but Curry was not hurt
There is no report or anything documented of any Injuries he got in the 2016 playoffs. All he had was a minor ankle sprain which everyone has a minor injury by the time the Finals roll around cause Half the cavs roster were dealing with minor Injuries too. Love literally missed 2 games in the 2016 Finals and Kyrie's Knees still weren't even 100% from last year. Curry being hurt is such a corny and fraudulent excuse. Only Bogut was Truly injured and Iggy had some back problems in Game 6. Curry dropped 38 Pts in Game 4 of that Finals balling out securing the Warriors 3-1 lead. He was not injured
@MistahJay7 he was definitely hurt. You don't remember after the ankle, he sprained his MCL during the Houston series? I remember watching the play live and you knew his knee was messed up. He still played bad in the finals and I'm not saying the knew was the reason why. But he was DEFINITELY hurt.

2023 Nuggets also played against 3 play-in teams: wolves, lakers and heat
Only play in team that should be considered an asterisk there is the heat as the nuggets were the one seed so we’re bound to play the wolves. lakers we’re a one of the best teams after the trade deadline and weren’t a true 7th seed. The heat though kinda got lucky that Giannis got injured in the first series which if he didn’t maybe they don’t win the series. But props to the heat they still beat the knicks and Celtics.
Exactly weak team
The biggest asterisk year was 1999 for sure. The Utah Jazz had the #1 record throughout the shortened season until the very end as the increased schedule wore on them and the Spurs tied the Jazz for the best record in the league at the very end. If the season was scheduled normally the Jazz most likely would have finished the best record without being tied, had better seeding and position going into the Playoffs and not as worn out. That would have made a big difference.
How the freak were the jazz wornout on a shortened season? Lol 2020 was the biggest asterisk since the season ended and didn't start until playoffs was about too start. 99 they played the entire second half of the season and more.
Hoops Report finally talking about GSW without any bias 🔥🔥🔥🔥 quality quality content right there
Utah hit a huge three in game 6 of the 98 finals but it was falsely called off. They erroneously thought he didn't get it off in time, shot clock violation.
Okay, but the thing.about the 2003 Spurs is that the 1 seed is supposed to have the easiest path.
Going back to the 01 conference finals with the Sixers and the Bucks there was a lot of controversy that went in Philly’s favor
i like how everyone agrees that the nuggets final was fair and square
Yeah I agree.. that could change
Tho
Also, In 08’ Trevor Ariza, (who played an important role on that team) was hurt along with Bynum.
For the 2017 season, Kawhi got injured during the Warriors and spurs match-up in game 1 which allowed GSW to come back from a 20+ deficient and ended up sweeping the spurs.
That berry guy did this type of video and all his videos are bangers
Thanks for the vid, I’ve wanted to know this for a while.
Game 6 1998 Finals of Jazz vs. Bulls bigger issue was a 2 incorrect calls by the refs which resulted in a 5-point difference that should have given the Jazz a 5-point lead. There was a shot the Jazz made before the shot clot ran out that the refs wrongfully called off so it didn't count. Then there was a shot the Bulls made after the shot clock expired but the refs still counted it. A difference of 5 points taken away from the Utah Jazz.
Are Warriors a championship team?
As long as Steph is playing at GOAT-like level and they're all healthy for play-offs, they'll ALWAYS have a shot!

@@rando28-3 uh-huh, sure. 😄
@@dvdv8197 No I’m serious. only using your logic, and btw great content, 1991 Bulls b/c that year's Piston team played and entire season with injuries. But one stands out more and that will be the wrist injury to " Zeek" that happened earlier in the year that he never complained about and just played. that team got all the way to the eastern conference title game and couldn't shoot, dribble, pass, defend, or be his normal self during that series. @@hmm3154 If it changes the fact that you need to win ONE more game that's showing that they didn't deserve that championship in the first place. ONE game is all they needed and they let the suspension get to their head, they were not championship ready (hence 2015 with 2 injuries).
@@Mikey-zi6po Chocked? With a capital "C?" Not sure what that means, maybe you mean "choked." Oh hey that reminds me...speaking of 3-1, that's the Warriors record against the Cavs in the finals. But you wouldn't say it was just Curry who is 3-1 against Lebron right? Since teams have more than one player?
So when a DPOY Draymond Green and another key defense player Bogut go out, along with the back injury to the FMVP from the prior year Iguodala in G6 and Curry himself spraining his *MCL* in the WCF series against the Rockets - that is just "well they lost anyways so cope" BUT in 2015 when "Lebron" loses in 6 (I'd say the Cavs, but you like to word it this way with Curry) then *suddenly* OH MY GOD injuries matter right? oH mY GoD tWo InJuRiEs!!! (Total of 4 players on the Warriors injured and suspended during the 2016 matchup btw).
And here's what you're thinking now: sure, a *DPOY* Green or *FINALS MVP* Iggy isn't as much of a star player as Kyrie or Kevin Love though, right? Of course, magically only *your team's* injuries really mattered when you lost! "But they were out the whole series and the Warrior's mostly came later!" you will say next...oh wait, they came when the Warriors were up 3-1, crushing the Cavs when both teams were mostly healthy (other than Curry MCL issues). It was tied at halftime in game 5 when Bogut got hurt, even without Green it was then an even match, but no Bogut for the 2nd half, and the game ends with the Cavs winning by 15. Two best defenders on the Warriors BOTH gone.

If LeBron had Curry's injury and kept playing but the Cavs had lost the finals every fan of his on planet earth would scream for years about how that's the reason they lost and the Warriors suck. "They just got lucky." But when the Cavs win it's a "amazing, legendary, wow!" moment." The double standards and bias from people like you is just disgusting. Just admit it. Whoever the winner is is the winner, every year in fact. Including the *3 out of 4 the Warriors beat the Cavs.*
And after 2016 when the Cavs get destroyed 8-1 in Finals games the next two years you complain about KD - but lets's be honest, if anything, isn't that just also coping about the fact you lost 4-1 then just get swept 4-0 the next year too? 😂If the losing team is just "cope" no matter what then the 3/4 losses the Cavs had against the Warriors are all just cope.
There's 5 men each on the court. The better 5 men were just by far the Warriors, 3/4 times. Oh but no, of course it's all just about injuries. Or "Lebron needs more superstars." Maybe the players on the Cavs could have just played like NBA players should if they wanted to ever win anything. They had guys just as big or large, nothing unfair there - but KD, Curry, Klay, Dray, Iggy all being more SKILLED and just better in those games. So guess what?
