  • Day 1 of our adventure to the Lost Sierra of Northern California. The 204 mile long Lost Sierra 4x4 Trail is an epic adventure through the old gold fields of the Northern Sierra. The route features 32 discovery points including stops at old mining claims and camps, two ghost towns, passes by dozens of looks and 3 lookouts.
On day 1 we begin our adventure on Cal-Ida road, visit saddleback mountain, and then take the first part of poker flat to jump over towards the official beginning of the route near Howland City Ghost Town. We end up camping at the famed Slate Creek Diggings for the night while the kids shake their hands at prospecting for gold.
Be sure to check out part 2 of our adventure in the Lost Sierra.
Adv Badge and GPX files for the route can be found at:

Nice job on the narration and film work! Someday I'm gonna get back out there and make it happen.

I took my 80 with trailer and sister in law in a stock 4Runner the reverse how you guys went. I wasn’t going to go up to Howland Flats, but with recent drive train additions I may give it a go.

The Adult "Fun section" of Poker flats after the stream crossing looked pretty interesting. Not a "Pardo's Jeep Trail" experience but it looked like it had some challenges. :)

Curious what height you recommend for this trail. You mention maybe needing a lift. We’re new to over landing, just got a 4Runner off-road, have the pro wheels and need to upgrade tires. Trying to decide if we should lift or not. This trail would likely be the most technical I could see us doing. I like many of the easy to intermediate trails you’ve put together.

Great video. Would love to see you include ratings for off road trailers such as the OFF grid expedition 2.0. I know you guys don't use trailers but the videos sometimes don't do it justice as to how towing a true off road trailer would do.

If you have to ask you shouldn’t be there lol. Buy’s offroad trailer to look overlandy instead of airstream 😂✌🏻

Google earth doesn't really do navigation like Gaia does. Did you manually draw all the routes with the line tool?

Cool video, I'm new to your channel !! would you do the poker flat run in a 2020 Tundra limited TRD OR with a four wheel camper project M? It will be on 35s....

You should be fine, but iv heard there is some deadfall from this past winter that may make it a bit tight in a few spots.

@@OverlandTrailGuides Right on, went to Meadow lake through Bowman lake and out on some of the offshoot roads were tons of deadfall everywhere. That darn Project M is proving to be too wide and tall for most places I want to go :(
