    I so appreciate your diligence and thorough efforts to do this step as prescribed by OSHA, it is important! Nice to see that you are leading by example. I'm sure that other nail techs are doing this probably off camera, but it's good to see someone give a UA-cam demonstration of how to sterilize their implements before every use. I'm a fan! 😁, THANK YOU!!!

    Good job! Old school manicurist here. I keep up with my license but don't work in the industry at the moment. I wish everyone who patronizes nail salons would watch this to know what to look for in a sanitary nail salon.

    • @donnaw246
      @donnaw246 Рік тому

      You can if you want, but if you are cleaning and disinfecting your implements diligently you shouldn't need a personal set. That's why we disinfect so well between clients because if we didn't, every client would need their own set of implements and even then you would still risk spreading bacteria or infections.

    Oh golly, I'm not a nail professional but have for almost a yr been fighting a toenail fungus. I have a drs prescription for the toenails but even my dr doesn't know what im supposed to clean my clippers, snippers & picker things with. I read online to soak them (& the brush) in rubbing alcohol for 30 min and let dry. It never mentioned rinsing them and i never thought to scrub them. I have 3 infected toenails and so far the same ones i use for those, i use on my fingernails. My fingernails are doing alright but i just cant get rid of the toenail ones. Is the 30 min in rubbing alcohol not enough? Im the only person using them. I dont share them with anyone. I hope you still respond to people.

    • @Jammylita
      @Jammylita  11 місяців тому +1

      Hey! Rubbing alcohol won’t get rid of toe nail fungus. You have to use a hospital grade disinfectant on your implements. I definitely don’t recommend using the same implements on your fingernails. You should definitely ask your doctor 🩷

    • @iscelap9087
      @iscelap9087 3 роки тому

      After having them immersed in 10 min with the barbicide you wash the tools with soap and water again. Dry them. Put them in the pouches. Put them in a uv sterilizer for 10 min with the tools inside the pouch and then take them out and nope that’s it’s. You’re fine. Keep them in the pouches until you have to use it. But also the pouches write down the date you sterilized them.

    This is kind of an irrelevant question with respect to this video, but I have a question! I have an extra fine cuticle bit I use to clean & seal my cuticles, and it works really well but I feel like bc it’s extra fine it gets clogged really quickly and I end up having to clean it multiple times in between using it. Is there like a way I can avoid that so I only have to clean it once I’m done? Or maybe even a quicker way to do so besides soaking it for like 5-10 mins? I usually clean my other coarser drills by spinning it in acetone but that doesn’t work for the extra fine one and I end up having to soak it to really get it all the way clean. I really appreciate any/all help, thank you so much!! 😩🙏🏽🫶🏽🥰🫡

      NOT A NAIL TECH: you may wanna try getting a different bit, if you love that one for the fine details use the “bigger, more corse” one first, then do the small details with the one you already have. Hope that helps!

    If you have 3 clients in one day, do you need 3 sets of drills and manicure items? How can u do all of this in one day 3 times if you only have one set of drills?

      I definitely recommend having multiple drill bits to work with, especially if you have multiple clients a day

    I have a question i clean my tools before the barbicide in the same container then get all of the water out and sometimes there’s bubbles when I put the barbicide inside… do you think it’s because of the soap? And do you think it would affect the barbicide?

    • @Jammylita
      @Jammylita  Рік тому

      Yes! Make sure you scrub, rinse and dry before submerging in the barbicide mixture 🩷

    So do you not need a uv sterilizer machine ?

  • @sandrastreifel6452
    @sandrastreifel6452 2 роки тому +1

    Just a point: abrasive bands to use on mandrel bits are single-use, they can’t be cleaned or disinfected for reuse, they should be removed before cleaning the mandrel.

    how do you properly dispose of baarbicide

    • @Jammylita
      @Jammylita  Рік тому

      Diluted barbicide that’s less than a gallon at a time can be disposed down a drain with water or a sanitary sewer system

    1. Cleaning we are removing germs.
    2. Disinfecting we are killing the harmful microbes.
    3. Sterilization is we are actually killing all living microorganisms 🦠
    you did the first 2 steps very well, but you didn't do the 3rd step. Which means that the tools are not ready for use. Stage 3 is very important too.
