As an experienced gelli printer, I will say that you don’t only need the very expensive Golden Open paints, unless you live in a very warm environment, and need to slow the drying time. 2 really good, inexpensive ones are Amsterdam or Pebeo.

The impressions of the tools are so crisp and clear! I am looking forward to trying this technique.

@@phoebebaker1575 hello Phoebe, oh good! I’m glad you’re going to try it! It’s the paints that help (although they are annoyingly expensive) too much really for what they are but there go.

@dianeoconnor8310 agreed, I love Pebeo products, Golden open is sooo (annoyingly) expensive but I love it! They’ve gone up in price in the last two years. I remember buying a set 5 years ago & they were much cheaper 😮Another alternative which are amazing (& vegan) is Akua x

@@paisley_art_workshops as an artist/printmaker, I use Akua for Collagraph printing, but it dries too slowly for gel printing for me.

@ I know what you mean… I think they are designed to stay wet on the plate until they hit something porous (the paper) … what’s the best acrylic paint you’ve come across in general? I know you mentioned Pebeo before 👍
