Thanks. Easier than I thought. I didn't want to risk breaking it by using pliers, which I'm sure could easily happen, but this turned out to be just what I needed to do.
Boiling water and citric acid granules is the best way to clean all the limescale off. I use this to clean the aerator from my pressure washer foamlance attachment.
@@fixitjohn I have the same problem and mine is male/female combo according to Home Depot. I took mine off in attempt to connect a portable washing machine adapter and for the life of mine I cant get the silver adapter to twist back onto the faucet
I have the same problem, and it’s so frustrating. I’ve tried a new aerator and even the old one again, cleaned the threads with vinegar, and used WD40. At this point I suppose I need to replace the faucet but actually should get a new vanity while I’m at it. If I’m ever asked how much it costs to clean an aerator, I’ll have to say about $600.
I would first try to clean the threads out the best you can. If that does not work you can try striping it in but you may not get it tight enough and then it would spray out of the side. You can always go without one it is not the end of the world. The best solution would be to replace the faucet. I know that hard water will eat the end of those faucets up. Good luck.
I replaced my bathroom sink aerator today. Working great now, however when the aerator was off and I turned the faucet on, water began to leak underneath? It doesn’t do it with the aerator on works better than ever with the new one on. Is that normal? It was as if the water was going back down the spout and leaking underneath
@@fixitjohnwhat baffles me is with the new aerator on there’s is no leak underneath at all. It only does it when the water is turned on without the aerator attached
@@BryanVGK23 I see what you are saying. When it comes out with the aerator off it is probably running back under the faucet. Because it is not funneling out like it would with the aerator on. I hope that makes sense. Thank for watching. Come back and say hello.
@@fixitjohnok I see. Thanks. Doesn’t seem to be a cause for concern then, just make sure aerator is on before running any water in the future. Thanks for the help and the video
I attempted to remove my aerator in my bathroom sink easy success on the first one, but I attempted to remove the one in the other bathroom and in the process of trying to disconnect the thing broke and and a copper looking cover came out and it look like it broke from a pipe. Is this something I should worry about?
Hi Brad, That does make it a little more difficult. You may need to take the faucet off and work at trying to get the aerator to unscrew. Be careful not to damage the threads. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Glad it helped.
Thank you 😂. Verry helpful. You explained it better than anyone else. Again, thanks.
You're welcome!

Hey John, what are the Phillip Screws under the faucet plate for? I
Thank you for your question. I would think it is there to hide the ugly pipe.
Thank you
I can't get mine to tighten back up I have tried and tried not sure whats going on
Do you have a male or female thread?

What if the new one won’t catch? What if the inside is stripped or broken?

You should be ok if it is not leaking under your sink. I would run the water and look under the cabinet to be sure it is not wet. I hope this helps.
What happens if you break it off before it comes all the way out?

I tried everything and I cant get it off
Are you turning it counter clockwise.
Wow I didn't' t know people did not use a water softener. Myself and everyone I know must be privileged.
Hi Allen, yes you are blessed. Thanks for watching.
Ya think?
@@deniseswift8257 No I don't, there are many reasons to run soft water, softeners and salt don't cost that much.
