The one idea for a starfield run I have been toying with has been "can you beat it as a Big Game Hunter" where you can only make materials or trade for credits from exotic space creatures you have killed on planets (preferably with the Coachman), see how limiting/fun that can be. Some of the planets have massive spawns of the species and that can be used to flip for the materials to complete the game

Cutter is secretly OP, especially if you pair it with the phased time power. I made a build for the cutter to get me through the NG+ runs quickly so I could get to NG+10 for my extended playthrough.
You can also add a disarming effect to it, though I can’t recall if you can level the hip fire skill it’s part of with just the cutter. I’d think you would, but it all depends on what the code says counts.
I mean the Cutter literally is the most powerful weapon in the game with rank 4 of the lasers perk due to the burn DoT it inflicts dealing percentage based damage which you can stack infinitely. Like this thing is Ahzidal's Ring of Arcana from Skyrim all over again except it's not locked behind an optional DLC sidequest but rather the first weapon you get in the game.
@@BlitzAce1995 Having played a Shotgun - Cutter build, I'd say it's situational. The build was based on close quarters combat with skills that activate well with rapid fire and multiple pellets per shot (so the fire effect, the disarm chance while hip firing skill, etc). If I remember correctly, you can also get staggering effects with the right armor? I might be confusing that with armor that adds another disarm chance (which is, naturally, also broken).
@@danshive4017 some people have run the numbers and in terms of raw DPS the Cutter beats everything due to how it just keeps stacking the burn DoT. That being said all of this obviously only applies if you have rank 4 of lasers, but then again why wouldn't you because the effect of the perk doesn't only apply to laser weapons but rather ANY weapon that deals some form of energy damage including particle beams, as well as ballistic guns with whitehot rounds. And yes that means that particle beam weapons not only scale with their own perk but the ballistics and lasers perks as well, and if that sound broken it indeed is to the point where the big bang shotgun is the third most powerful weapon in the game only being beaten out in terms of DPS by the Arc welder and the Cutter. Also regarding Terrormorphs: they have a very inflated healthpool and get ridiculous damage reststances (especially to ballistics) past level 65 BEFORE the hidden health and damage restistance inflations for subsequent NG+ cycles the game never tells you about... but guess what those doen't matter to the Cutter since the DoT is a fixed percentage of the enemy's health every tick and stacks indefinitely so you're gonna kill a level 1 Terrormorph with the Cutter in the same time as a level 200 Terrormorph which is why the Cutter is most powerful weapon in the game because it essentially completely ignores level and NG+ scaling it gest exponentially more powerful the higher level and NG+ cycle you are.
Hey Guys I just wanted to spread the unfortunate news, the legend MittenSquad has passed away at 27 I was shocked and in disbelief when I heard the news and I thought it was some sicko playing on someone’s misfortune but no sadly it’s real Fly High Mitten to the Squad in the Sky 🕊️🕊️
In honor of Mitten, can you beat Fallout 3 or NV as Grandma Sparkles? You must install 100 random mods from the Nexus, in any random order and attempt to beat the game without crashing.
Maybe you could do a challenge run inspired by Mitten Squad, to commemorate his life, seeing as your contents are very similar, it would fit very well in your channel, as a final adieu to him (sorry for the wonky english btw)
I love your videos. I found this channel because of the inconsistent uploading of Mitten Squad and i cant get enough of the challenge runs. With his passing im hoping the Mitten squad subscribers see the similarities i see and gravitate to your channel
When creating a character, you can also choose Starborn as a trait. While this is not as quick as NG+, you can use the Starborn dialogue options to fast track several quests.
i would argue that for ship combat its the ship fighting not the player character (sort of), and their for ship (or vehicle) combat is still within the scope of most (at least weapon restricted) challenges. that's unless we really want to get technical about this, and yes i know this is could be seen as more of a excuse more than anything else.
I had a great idea a while ago and just realized you can totally do it in multiple games, basically Can You Beat Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4 and/or Skyrim with only crafted healing supplies? Homebrewed Nuka Colas, Bloatfly steaks, handmade potions, etc
Bashing is excellent with the cutter. Unlike other weapons, it effectively doubles as reloading. Alien DNA + Terra Firma traits are a good combination when using the cutter, as you will usually have more than enough oxygen to run around and bash enemies. If in space, the two traits mostly cancel each other out.
-Can you beat Starfield as Abraham Lincoln? -Can You Beat Starfield as Benny -Can You Beat Starfield as Legate Lanius -Can You Beat Starfield as Dragonborn
I would honestly love to see a powers only run. If it's way too hard you might be able to use the way they level up (NG eclusive) and make it work in a single run in some balanced way.
Some of the powers are underwhelming/useless, like Earthbound or particle beam Some are high in utility, like sense starstuff or elemental pull. And some are Solar Flare and Life Forced, which can make an enemy's hp pool evaporate like a snowball on the sun if you have multiple levels of them unlocked. And then there's phased time of course, but there's a reason that's locked behind completing the main storyline.
When Mitten Squad went on hiatus, you truly filled that gap in my mind. I always hoped for the Return of the King, but I would’ve preferred he was happy and healthy. I’ve actually encountered him three times on different hub worlds. I even tried to mow him down with a Revenant once on Akila City, to no success though.

RIP Paul
rip mitten squad the king of these kind of videos
RIP mitten squad
fuck man, this is an actual tragedy
Hey Guys I just wanted to spread the unfortunate news, the legend MittenSquad has passed away at 27 I was shocked and in disbelief when I heard the news and I thought it was some sicko playing on someone’s misfortune but no sadly it’s real Fly High Mitten to the Squad in the Sky 🕊️🕊️
I don’t know if you’ve heard but earlier today Paul of mitten squad has sadly passed away at the age of 27, rest easy Paul ❤.
In honor of Mitten, can you beat Fallout 3 or NV as Grandma Sparkles? You must install 100 random mods from the Nexus, in any random order and attempt to beat the game without crashing.
mitten squad passed rest in peace king you made us all laugh
you will be missed my brother
I watched you and mitten squad hope your doing well rest in peace mitten squad
He died?
@@anthonyjenkins2248 mitten squad did not nerbit
@@Literally_simon_petrokov that's who I was asking about I hate to hear that he was a great person
I appreciate all the Halo background music! 😎 Fitting due to the cutter operating like a sentinel beam, which is what I named mine
Can you beat Fallout 4 as a battleship. Use only the Broadsider (indoors only) and minuteman artillery (outdoors only).
I vote for a mitten squad run. Do a no hit run in honor of the legend.
Maybe you could do a challenge run inspired by Mitten Squad, to commemorate his life, seeing as your contents are very similar, it would fit very well in your channel, as a final adieu to him (sorry for the wonky english btw)
that would be an amazing idea. I can't believe he's dead
I'm sorry to hear about Mitten Squad
I ahve an idea for future runs, gonna require some set up but if it works it'll be great lol
R.I.P Mitten Squad you will be missed
14:19 you can also get a unique cutter if you do the first trackers gild quest. That being the ship disassembler. It just ways less but its still cool
-Can You Beat Starfield as Benny
-Can You Beat Starfield as Legate Lanius
-Can You Beat Starfield as Dragonborn
I would honestly love to see a powers only run. If it's way too hard you might be able to use the way they level up (NG eclusive) and make it work in a single run in some balanced way.
The powers felt underwhelming at best, and useless at most.
For real, they're so BAD.
Youd need a mod to just give you them all during the prolouge cause it would bw a massice waste of time to get them
Some of the powers are underwhelming/useless, like Earthbound or particle beam
Some are high in utility, like sense starstuff or elemental pull.
And some are Solar Flare and Life Forced, which can make an enemy's hp pool evaporate like a snowball on the sun if you have multiple levels of them unlocked.
And then there's phased time of course, but there's a reason that's locked behind completing the main storyline.
“Here’s hoping they don’t just look out a window”
Geth don’t have windows, they’re structural weaknesses
When Mitten Squad went on hiatus, you truly filled that gap in my mind. I always hoped for the Return of the King, but I would’ve preferred he was happy and healthy. Your sense of humor is different than his, but I was hooked on the first video. I know you were a fan of his too. Can you do a video where you repeat a run of his that was your favorite to watch?
RIP Mitten Squad.
rip
I’ve always loved watching yours and Mitten Squads challenge videos. Thank you Nerbit for continuing to make amazing content and like someone said carry the torch.
I had so much of an ammo problem in my first playthrough that I was nearly entirely a cutter run for the first 20 hours, and I didn't even know about focusing it.
Also there's a secret third option during the dimension-jumping lab sequence that involves uniting the timeline to save everyone. It's HILARIOUS to watch them freak out about having 2 of the guy; the corpse and the other-timeline survivor.
Don't really care about Starfield at all, but a Bethesda "Can you beat" is something Mitten Squad paved way for, and I enjoy your content as well, so I'll watch this in full. RIP
I appreciate the ambient halo music in the background, hits me right in the nostalgia like a truck
Before today, I didn't know that hearing Nerbit imitate a laser sound was something that i needed in my life.
R.I.P Mitten Squad. U will be missed
RIP Mitten Squad
"you will be attacked by starborn more if you keep the Armillary on your ship" i.e. when you land on a planet the random landing ship in the distance is more likely to be a starborn ship...
I did my first playthrough almost entirely with the cutter even the uc vanguard quest, i only took a bread doing the cowboy quests with a revolver
I know its not the usual format, but i think it would be really interesting to see how few levels you can gain while finishing a new game
You can finish starfield before level 10
Doing my 9th NG+ with my character with my son sitting here, and he pipes up with "give your guy the Adoring Fan and then avoid him the entire playthrough"... thanks Nerdbit, you have poisoned my entire family now.
This is going to be a challenge.
Can you please do a “can you beat video as mitten squad” I don’t know what the challenge could be but he just passed away and I thought it would be a nice thing to do. 👍 rest in peace Joseph Wilson/ mitten squad
so another thing about the cutter is that its considered a heavy weapon so there's another dmg skill to increase its dmg
Rip mitten squad
For runs like this, in space encounters, you should always invest in the perks that allow you to target the parts and blow up their engines. Then you can board them and use the challenge weapon and not void the challenge.
People talk about the laser perk for the cutter but not the heavy weapons perk. Cutters are listed as heavy so that perk should also work.
This video almost makes me want to play Starfield again... But then I remember how bored I was playing it and that I'll just watch the video instead.
You think an upcoming video could be to commemorate mitten squad?
For anyone who was a mitten squad fan, he passed away on December 14th, somebody who lived in Detroit found his obituary. RIP Paul, now the real game begins.
Right on the drop, cant wait to watch this!
Hope you enjoy :)
@@Nerbit13098 I most certainly did, banger work as always, boss!
Pro tip: if you rename 2 cutters in the weapon bench you can favorite both. Swapping between them gives full ammo.
I know this is unrelated, but RIP Paul from mitten squad!
8:59 I didn't know you could encounter the hunter before the mandatory run in during the main quest
Yeah you can find him in various locations multiple times before hand, he is easily the best character in the game and I find talking with him interesting
Even more so once you realize the Hunter is a meta-representation of the actual player, which cements it more once you reach NG+10 and get the Venator suit: the hunters suit.
I’ve actually encountered him three times on different hub worlds. I even tried to mow him down with a Revenant once on Akila City, to no success though.
@windebiesteultima3317 how does the hunter represent the player again?
Mitten squad has died
My view on ship combat is it's all just one big Radroach in Fallout 3.
I think that from now on, starfield runs should start at new atlantis
You can actually preserve all of the lives in the Entangled quest. It's just a longer and confusing process. But yeah everyone in the facility stays alive, and Rafael gets brought back to the 'living' reality and I think he can join your crew.
