I remember playing this as a kid, and after escaping the castle, I thought this was the greatest game ever.... Then I hear ganondorfs heavy breathing, that mixed with the music , makes this One of the greatest suprise boss fights in history
Probably not canon, but I have always seen Ganon as the 'pure evil' part of Ganondorf. As Ganondorf, there is still some humanity in him, a small capacity for good. When he transforms here, it is basically the equivalent of selling his soul for power-- he gives up his humanity to become an unholy monster in hopes that this will allow him to destroy Link.

One little detail (along with the lighting) I don't like is how the 3Ds version doesn't have Ganondorf struggling against his own energy when he pulls his body inward 0:27. The 3Ds version of that little detail makes the scene lose some oomph.

Damn, I just watched someone play the final battle on the 3DS version a short while ago, and I am now convinced that I was right when I first said it: A game such as Ocarina of Time doesn't need a remake. It was already good enough how it was on the N64. The huge aesthetic difference in the 3DS remake's final battle proves how they ruined it. The 3DS remake's final battle was far too lit up. On the N64, the darker sky, and overall darker atmosphere that shrouded Ganon made it somewhat unclear just what Ganondorf had become, and you could only catch short glimpses of him when the lightning struck, but the moment you got a good look at him as you delivered the final blow, you knew more than ever before that Link was a badass. If his whole adventure, and the appearance of his final foe weren't enough to convince you, then the way he finished Ganon off most likely did. Why? Because he stabbed Ganon in the fucking *THROAT* after giving him a few slices across the face. But they ruined that in the remake too by changing it to where he just stabs Ganon in the forehead after the face slices. :/ Please, Zelda newcomers (Or OoT newcomers, I guess?). If any of you read this, please heed my advice. Don't waste your money on the 3DS remake. Get a Nintendo 64 and a cartridge copy, or hell, get an emulator and a rom if you can't come across a physical copy. The graphics may not be as sharp, but at least they were done *right*. *Sigh* I miss the old days. (๑ १д१)
Oh come on, that's ridiculous! The 3ds version is superior in every aspect. The 64 game runs terribly, has terrible graphics, and some bad game mechanics which were improved on by the ds version. There are some who think they barely changed anything so it's not even a remake which I slightly agree with but we can also say they didn't ruin anything either. The only reason to play the 64 version over the ds version is purely for nostalgia.

@luckycharmsguy17 check out these three videos for the process. i did not make these videos nor do i know who posted them, but the quest is accurate. the videos did the quest after finishing the ice cavern. you definitely have to at least start the cavern so you can get blue fire to defrost King Zora. just got this game a few days ago now i understand why this game is voted the best game of all time. no game not halo nor call of duty not even mario could even compare to my ineffable feelings of this game. no game beforehand could make feel so sad and happy at the same time like this game. my only complaint is this game rose the bar too high for any other game to attempt such a masterpiece, therefore we are left with the okay but safe games of my time. :(

When you die, if you have a fairy, it automatically brings you back to life.

My friend is playing this game right now, and hes struggling through it. Had to beat the Water Temple for him, was too confusing for him.
I think you can shoot him with light arrows to stun him but idk i havent played it for awhile.
