What surprised me about the mini lathe is the amount of 3d printable accessories there are available for download for it. I printed an apron guard and was even able to print change gears with good results. The 90 and 100 tooth gears slow down the feed nicely.

I need to get a 3D printer. I think they are pretty cool machines. Thanks for watching my video.

Nice video Glenn, especially an American with a set of metric spanners. Ha ha.

Ya, I think most everything is metrics now a days. I had my first set of metrics spanners ( wenches) since 1970s. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Nice video. I am tearing mine down to replace the bearings in the headstock as well as the plastic 2 speed gears with steel ones. I also gt a 750 watt servo motor with controller and new pulleys and belt upgrade. Kinda a 3 in 1 upgrade.

Thank You for the compliment on the video. A 3 in 1 upgrade, wow thats a lot of work. I also need to do everything you just mentioned. But after just getting it back together I think I'll just run it for a while.

Thank You for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed the video as well as the project. I'm working on Part 2 "Bed Extension" Its all but finished. So, until then.

Why is it that there are only 3 mounting holes/bolts for the head stock. It seems to me if there were four there would be less issues with run out and would make the head stock more stable thus your machining more accurate Thanks

You aren't the first person to bring this up. I wonder 🤔 the same thing. I even been told by one person that he put in his own 4th bolt. But you are right to ask that question and all I can say is we may never know. Thanks for watching.

@@GlennNowOnUA-cam sounds like a future video idea.... I hope! I'm still torn between the HF Lather + bed upgrade or go with the Grizzly 9 x 16 lathe for $1500 including shipping.. HF lathes have some horror stories in the reviews with the Chuck being completely out of whack and impossible to align.

@@ChristopherJones16 Hello Chris, You do understand that most all of these lathes are manufactured by the same company in China. This company offers different add-ons to the Lathes and Mills that they manufacture. They will paint them what ever color and apply any labels that the end seller wants. If you're going to buy a mini lathe you get what you get. Its a hobby machine. I had my mini lathe for about 15 years before doing any up grades. It worked just fine. Did it have problems. Yes, But nothing you can't work around. It is your money. I decided to go with a HF lathe and it made parts just fine. Most of the problems that hobby machines have are the people using them. Just my opinion.
