Men like this may cost a few quid but his experience/skill will massively shorten the diagnostic time which not only saves money/time, it ensures your cash is spent fixing the problem - not wasted away on unneeded parts and labour.

I had a 1995 FZR1000. Of all the bikes I’ve had before, I wish I had that one back.

Thanks Jim. Great video. No doubt stretched the job out fixing all your kit to the bike but very interesting for us. Excellent.

Jim is a fabulous mechanic and I have learned much from these very informative videos. Better, cleaner, presentation would improve even this fantastic resource.

@Superbike Surgery Ltd i got a CB600F hornet 2006, carb model, been trying for over a year now to get it running right, problem is under slight load between 4k and 5k rpm, it will drop out on 1 cylinder, it fouls the plug on cylinder 1 when it is missing, but when its not missing plug is light gray in midle and a litle darker on the ring, so pretty normal, we had carb sync checked, its spot on, i cleaned carbs several times, i did use a ultrasonic cleaner, but i also made sure all passages where open, i changed float valve, jets, idle jet, o-ring on AF screw, checked membrane, changed vacum hoses, new coils, new plugs several times, it usually run ok for a short while after plug change, and also after disconnecting battery and letting it sit for 15 min it will only run on 2 at first start this is the reason i changed coils, no matter how long you let it run and no matter if you rev it or not it will not wake up on the last 2 cylinders, turn ignition off then back on and it runs on 4, that only happends after battery has been out and never with just turning off ignition, a bit at a loss on this one, im starting to think ICU would be interesting to hear if you got any advice in what to check next, i also checked the position sensor on the carbs, that is spot on 0.5v off trottle and 4.5 v full trottle, no dropouts.

Haha, LM-2 heater procedure, mine is working exactly the same However after few kilometres the logger hangs up and doesn't want to record the AFR anymore. Tested with 4.9 and 4.2. Probably there is a problem with EGT. Lots of fun to set up correctly.

The emulsion tubes wear oval on these Fzr1000 series carbs, causing rich fuelling.

Do Innovate do a battery for the tool simplicity of ease rather than having to remove the seat to take power from the bike battery. I've bought a shop kit for my workshop and had made jetting and needle work far easier

Be interested to c what u find that generation of fzr engine and from 87 right up to the thunderace were somewhat noisy imo due to the fact there’s not tensioner on the starter/ alternator chain a problem I’m trying to remedy on my fz750 based 961 engine 😅

Where can I get a afr meter with the exhaust probe instead of the lamda that goes into the wall of the exhaust ,I can't seem to find one ,I have a 1200 bandit which has had all o-rings and gaskets replaced ,plus ultrasonically cleaned and pressure tested ,but it's still not running right

Given the fact the carbs have been gone through several times....??? if there not the cause, i'd be looking at the EXUP valve, motor and cables , the valves can stick shut, which might account for the odd exhaust noise and getting hot so quickly .
