Also, a much higher percentage of Canadians grow up playing hockey than Americans, and there's TONS more snow in Canada than the U.S. ....so yes, their own element (This is coming from an American who's lived 10 years in Canada and can play hockey)

There is nothing better then when the US whips Canada in hockey especially on Canadian ice. I just love the dumbfounded look of 20,000 Canadians who cannot stand losing to America in hockey, the only thing they think that they are better than the US in. Especially because when the world juniors are in Canada and the US is playing other countries, the Canadian fans show up to root for whoever the opposing team is against the USA. I also think Canada has never been able to deal with the fact that the greatest hockey moment and possibly sports moment is owned by USA hockey. I don't think it was a Canadian team that beat the soviets in 1980, a soviet team that beat an NHL all star team 6-1 shortly before the olympics, a NHL team made up of Canadian players.
