Hah, you picked a good night! Indeed, Weds night races are great, I did foredeck on one of the J105s for years. The finish is right in front of the Spa Creek bridge, hence all the loops there. Glad you enjoyed Annapolis! Happy Holidays 🎄⚓️
There’s even more boat activity there than in Charlevoix! I think our boat would be very at home in Annapolis - lots of Downeast cruisers. (And there was a darned nice Fleming docked next to you!) Glad you found a bit of grass in a park for Ollie.
So glad you had some time in Annapolis! Such rich history. Love the Naval Academy and the Statehouse. Sorry the Statehouse was closed but keep that on your bucket list for a return trip. If memory serves me, it also served as of nations capital briefly before Washington D.C. Sailboats are a daily occurrence. Sometimes small ones with kids learning, medium and large. Naval cadets learn sailing as well so the academy has a large fleet of boats. What a wonderful, beautiful, historic area!l
You had a great spot in Annapolis. Actually, the slip you are in is where the mega yachts are docked. A few slips down from your slip is the slip for Winning Drive, owned by Baltimore Ravens owner, Steve Bisciotti. Usually when we stay in Annapolis, we'll stay on Ego Alley. It's a great spot for boat (and people) watching. You're absolutely correct about being in Annapolis on a holiday. When the Blue Angels practice for the Navy commencement, it's wall-to-wall boats down there. Thank you for the video and I'm glad you enjoyed Naptown.
You have no idea! I keep my Hatteras on Back Creek in Annapolis. About a 5 minute walk to the bridge you went under. Blue Angels in May, 4th of July and the boat show in October are amazing. The 7 story building with the beige brick and the black top on the ego alley waterfront is a hotel. Kinda pricey but a great place to stay if you don't have a boat. The party bar you went by is Pussers but it's closed now and being taken over by The Choptank which you also went by. We've kept our boat there for 8 years now. There's no place better! Great video!
With the exception of a few minor gremlins y'all had to get sorted out, this is the way cruises are meant to be experienced. Enjoyed your walking tour of Annapolis and the dinghy tour of the harbor.
I tried to comment at the end of the last two videos and was unsuccessful, don't know why?! I really enjoyed watching all the sailboats and being an old veteran enjoyed the lowering of the flag. I hope the problems you are having did not begin in Alabama!!! I am really enjoying your trip .😄
When.. I say when because based off our conversations once you finally recover from the fuel bill... lol you will do it again. Take the riding tour at the naval academy... there is so much you just can't see by walking it. Things like Tom McCain is buried there and was never in the navy. Great story.. hope you saw the crypt... it's just An amazing place. We go yearly by boat and I haven't begun to see it all...
Your channel caught my eye since I live in Annapolis. Just a little bit of constructive criticism but maybe you can slow your movements down when panning with the camera. It was causing me to get dizzy because it was moving to fast and wasn’t allowing the picture to focus. Good luck with your adventure.
They say that Annapolis is the sailing capital of America. It is a way of life here for many on the Chesapeake Bay. The Naval Academy has so much history for this country. The town of Annapolis is historic with its culture & building architecture. The State House is the longest operating capital in the USA. At one time is was the unofficial Capital of the USA for a short time. Wednesday night racing is a tradition with AYC. The big boat show in October is sorta world famous. Glad you got to enjoy a little piece of my home state. I've enjoyed sailing on the Bay many times. Deale & Harrington harbor to Kent Island & back. I've crewed twice on unofficial Annapolis to Solomons Island Run race. IF you have ever seen the infamous John Candy movie - "Summer Rental" as Jack battled with his nemesis Richard Crenna as Al Pellet defeating his better boat in the Citrus Cove regatta- we had our own captain- Rip Torn on our "Barnacle" giving the modern day boats a run for their money. He knew how to sail, and he knew the Chesapeake Bay really well. "Al he's flying his pants" as the horn sounds, snapping the handles on the helm wheel. We never did that trick- but sometimes it is fun being the underdog. I've always wanted to see the America's Cup raced off Annapolis/Baltimore ports- and nowadays SAIL GP F-50 series to sail here. Back in the day - long time ago - the Spanish explored the East Shore of the Bay circa late 1570's. The famous English captain John Smith sailed to the top of the Bay- into the Susquehanna River in 1608. From the waterman working the crab pots & clam dregs, the massive container ships in & out of the Port Baltimore, to the many pleasure boating activities enjoyed by so many who do visit this area- it should be on every sailor's bucket list items. July 4th weekend- when things are warm & pleasant. It can get very crowded. However- now,,,, it is cold as hell out there.
Hi guys, very enjoyable...no wonder so many make this monumental journey (the great loop ), it's just so spectacular. I used to enjoy the "twilight sailing" races back here years ago followed by a BBQ and a night on the amber fluids.... 💙🍻🍻🍻🍻🦘🦘
In yachting circles, Wednesday night is the traditional beer can races. Every yacht club in the country has fun Wednesday night races. No trophies, just fun and a beer for the winners.
How very lucky to live a life doing what you’re doing!

Love the boat tips and repair. Know it's not fun, but always gives me something to think about. Love your journey!
Wish I'd found you before you visited my home waters. As aspiring loopers would have loved to show you all the amazing history in Annapolis!

Wow, that evening dingy ride, sun setting and sail boats all around. Magical, thanks for posting!
Edit: Honestly, perfect ride...😊
