This has been my starter set, and i must say it is excellent. I broadly agree with your assessment, the model selection is good, the cannon and mortar are good, and so far the Churchill has performed very well, though i find that when confronted with an enemy heawy tank it tends to be undergunned. About building the Churchill, it comes with several options, and i found relatively easy to magnetize my favorites to have more choice. For the infantry: excellent sculpts, many options, including PIAT and light mortar. I would suggest painting the models before gluing the helmet on, as reaching under it can be tricky (learn from my mistakes) Sorry for the wall of text, and have fun!
I bought a fallschirmjager starter box, the week after you post your review. Last week I purchased this box! I'm thinking of the Soviets next so I'll be interested in your plans. Thank you for this and all your work. Also I found the Churchill a real pig to build.
I know he and many others don't like gluing weapons into hands but I really like the winter soviets. I found them easy enough to put together, plus it comes with a ton of guys and a KV-2 (or KV-1)! Edit: Also Rubicon tanks are so much nicer to build but no KV-2 :(
Just got this box last week (already have an Italian army), it's a great set! I ended up magnetizing all the weapon options for the Churchill with minor mods (it does come with the heavy howitzer). The infantry carrier basically assembled itself, the infantry go together well. I haven't gotten to the metal models, I've assembled plenty over the years so there's nothing new to say about those I'm sure. I'm eager to get these on the table!
Does this set let you choose between British and Canadian or is it called British and Canadian cos they are a mix of both? I’m new to bolt action so I ay got a clue with this set

I was actually thinking of picking up a British army as a second army. Thanks for helping me make a decision on the starter.
I really hope they release more Canadian units in 3rd edition, like the Ram tank.

I assume Canadians can also field Shermans and other US vehicles that made it into their motorpool?
The British can field them as well, late in the wat the US was supplying many allied armies
